Let's get cracking [PikaCHUUUUUUUU]

A large grey warrior bulked with muscles had approached Skyclans territory, a new morning was already starting birds flew from branch too branch trying too settle into a new home themselves. Rockfall sighed, he still wasn't able too get over his dear mates death having too pause his training with his apprentice for awhile. Although now he was ready too move on and get back onto his paws, he knew Whitefur would want that for him. Giving a small glance behind his shoulder too see if his apprentice was following behind him his ear gave a slight flick. Pausing for a bit too have a small chat with the apprentice, "So hows your day been Rabbitpaw? Enjoying yourself?" The deputy mewed normally as he continued too walk forward. "Ready too begin your training again?"

"I saw a robin catching a fly? It was amazing. It swooped down like we do when we pounce. It was so cool..." Rabbitpaw spoke rapidly, keeping in pace with his mentor, not noticing if the deputy was actually interested or not. But he had enough to sense to not ramble on too much, he didn't want to bother his mentor. Then he wouldn't like him and wouldn't teach him all the cool moves. "But yes, I'm ready to learn everything, Rockfall."

He really was. The youthful curiosity and burning desire to be the best was still bright within him.

A purr rose from the deputy, finding it quite amusing on how Rabbitpaw was amazed how prey catch their own food. "Why yes, even the prey need to survive after-all." The tom had said with a small chuckle, glancing towards the trees too see the birds hunting right at the moment. The forest was lively as ever, it was a good feeling. Rockfalls ear flickered glad too hear that Rabbitpaw was ready too learn, the apprentices seemed to have so much energy these days. Maybe it was the season of green-leaf that fired up their spirits. "I'm glad too hear it." The grey tom mewed, his tail twitching as he stopped. "We're gonna be battle training today, show me what you got." The deputy had said his tone becoming more serious and the look in his amber eyes changing as Rockfall turned too look at apprentice, his tail twitching paitently.

Rabbitpaw's ears twitched and claws shifted beneath his fur as he watched the deputy get ready for a tussle. Instinctively, he sensed the strength and potential threat the older, and much strong tom posed. It was chilling how small and insignificant he felt in comparison with the knowledge that Rockfall could easily take him out with a stray swipe of his paws. But he wanted to impress his mentor, and sitting around contemplating wasn't going to do that.

So he circled the tom, trying to find the perfect point to strike from. And then he leapt, going from crouch to airborne within seconds. It looked impressive, the way his muscle curled and unfurled, but the pounce was more designed for hunting smaller or weaker prey. He had yet to understand how to apply it with something stronger than him.

"Grahhh!"

His deep amber eyes had followed Rabbitpaw as the apprentice had started circling him. His tail twitched in the intense moment, battles were hardships and no one knew what to expect when they happened. You always had to prepare for the worst, to die in honor of serving your clan. Acting like this was a battle simulation or a practice battle which it practically was, the deputy found it difficult to breath as he studied his apprentices every movements. Over the past moons when Rockfall had trained Rabbitpaw his progress was indeed noticeable one day he would turn out to be a fine warrior he was sure of it.

The deputy's eyes widened in a small fraction as he felt the tom leap at him, Rockfall had skidded backwards, dust and and grass spluttering up into the air as he felt his sharp claws sink into the earth under him. It wasn't that hard of a hit, and the tom only went back a few inches, he was impressed but he showed no emotion on his face or in his amber eyes.

Moving quickly the grey Tom had launched himself at the apprentice softly sinking his fangs at his spine, his paws stepping onto him so he wouldn't be able to move or counter. His whiskers softly twitched before the deputy had stepped off Rabbitpaw, "Attacks like that are ineffective against me." The tom had said with a soft sigh, "You out of all people should know that, Rabbitpaw." Rockfall had newer glancing away, looking around at his surroundings. "This time I won't you to hide and attack me. " Rockfall had said finally before turning and padding away. "Make sure it's strong and powerful."

"Ye- yes, Rockfall." The apprentice said shakily. He wasn't afraid, or concerned that he wasn't doing well since he was trying his best. But the cause of his concern was the fact he'd put all his strength into that pounce, but it seemed to barely phase the deputy, who looked on stoically. As the deputy let him up and hide, he tried to think what he'd done wrong. And then it occurred to him. That he was jumping too high to get real momentum. Leaping above worked for prey since they were generally smaller than him. But an older tom who was bigger than him, the sheer strength required to jump above was preventing him from striking properly.

With this in mind, this time the apprentice hid in the bushes, sliding along the pine undergrowth like a serpent. Silent as he possibly could, before attempting to bowl the deputy over. He didn't bother pouncing or anything that would take away from his attack. It was a pure strike of speed and momentum.

He only hoped that he'd impressed his mentor and it worked.
