What is dead may never die [OPEN TO ALL TC]

Duskfall struggled through the bramble bushes that made up the entrance to the camp. Behind him he dragged the now cold body of his son, Redpaw, killed before his time. It had been a long and painful journey to the camp entrance with the bitter knowledge he was bring more grief and pain to his clan. But Redpaw deserved better than to become crowfood, he deserved a proper burial, as he was a true warrior.

Pulling his corpse to the centre of camp, he laid his son to rest. Grooming Redpaw's ginger fur back into place.

Shinepaw padded out of the apprentice den, only to see her grandfather ( right?) grieving. "What happened?"

Softsong had just been padding out of the nursery when she noticed her mate and her son and she froze. The she cat's icy blue eyes widening before she went over quickly. She looked at her mate almost on the verge of tears. True, Redpaw along with his brother Soaringpaw were her adopted sons but she loved them just the same and it broke her to see Redpaw laying dead in front of her."w...what happened Duskfall " She mewed voice cracking.

Thornfang padded out of the den at the sound of the comotion happening outside. "whats going on?" the senoir warrior asked only to see the motionless body off Redpaw. he new the apprentice was obviously dead when he touched the apprentices fur to find it unbearably cold. "another life lost. the cat died too soon. I shouldve died instead." he spoke. he look up at Duskfall who was Redpaw's father(?) and said "im so sorry for your loss. he wouldve made a wonderful warrior."

"I don't know, I found him like this at Sunningrocks." Duskfall spoke quietly, as if each word was paining him to speak, his paw rested on his son's shoulder. He couldn't bring himself to look away to face his mate, he'd failed her by not keeping their son safe. He'd only been an hare's leap away, chasing a sparrow near Owl tree, but he had failed to hear Soaringpaw's cry for help or save Redpaw. "Thank you for your words, Thornfang. I'm sure he would have been."

Frostpaw came out to see her Grandfather and Grandmother in mourning over a body lying on the ground. She padded up to her sister, Shinepaw and asked. "What's going on?"

Soaringpaw padded into camp soon behind Duskfall. "What's going on?" He asked, even though he had seen Redpaw's dead body at Sunningrocks. "Redpaw's not dead." The tom was in denial. Redpaw was his brother and they had been together since before longer then Soaringpaw could remember. He could rack his memory back to being found alongside his brother by Duskfall. "Redpaw's not dead," he repeated, padding into the apprentice den. "The medicine cat is treating his broken leg and cut from when he had fallen chasing me at Sunningrocks. He is perfectly fine." Tears welled up in the tabby's eyes and his voice cracked. Denial was hard. He collapsed into his brother's nest and cried.

Softsong had tears rolling into her cheek fur as she began to cry. She gently licked her sons cheek quietly tears still falling. She felt like wailing.

Coalpaw heard the commotion and padded from the Medicine cats den just in time to see Soaringpaw go into the apprentice den. She looked to the body of her adopted brother body. She followed after Soaringpaw knowing he was probably taking this the hardest. As she came into the apprentices den she found him crying in Redpaw ' s nest. She padded to him and quetly sat down before laying beside him she gently rested her tail on his back.

"Redpaw is dead," Shinepaw quietly mewed. Although she never got to meet the tom, she cried anyway. He was a family member that wouldn't be forgotten, EVER.

Duskfall barely spoke, merely sitting next to the body of his son. He didn't even have the strength to go comfort his mate or Soaringpaw. All he could do was stare blankly, responding to words of condolences automatically but not really taking it in. He would never be the same.

"Redpaw? As in Redpaw who is technically our uncle?" Frostpaw asked, unable to comprehend the idea of some cat actually dying. They weren't even at war, what could have possibly killed the ginger tom? The she-cat rejected the sheer premise something like that could possibly happen.

Frozenflame padded out of the warrior's den, disturbed by the sound of wails and cries. "What's wro..." he froze right then and there, jaw dropped. He had never seen a dead cat before. "Redpaw, no!" he ran over, pushing through the cats and cried, hovering over the body. "He...he was so young. Who would do something like this? The work of a demon!"

Blazingheart came into camp, seeing a crowed of cats gathered around he walked up inbetween his son and Duskfall. He stayed silent, but rest his tail on Duskfall's back. "I'm sorry, Duskfall. I know how much you love your kits...adopted or born." He bowed his head and said a silent prayer to Starclan that Redpaw would be accepted and be happy in his new home. "He's in Starclan's paws now. He is safe and happy. We should be joyful that he's in a better place." Despite his words, Blazingheart let tears slip from his eyes.
