A Badgered Patrol [SkC]

Breezestar sat outside of the camp entrance, waitimg for the other members of his clan to come outside. He was rather excited about the evening. It'd been sometime since he'd been able to go out of camp and go on a simple patrol with his clanmates.
He sighed a bit. The gray tabby knew the job of a leader was demanding, but he never knew it'd be /that/ demanding. He'd lost his name, his friends, his family - all for the sake of the clan. The old rogue in him wanted to run off and hunt alone, sleep alone, hide away in the forest - but that wasn't him anymore. He had to love and accept little pleasures like this.
And so, he smiled and greeted the first cat to appear. "Good morning." he meowed.

It was a bit shocking when Breezestar had wanted to go on patrol, normally leaders run things in camp. The deputies were in charge of the patrols, Rockfall pushed past the grassy entrance of the warriors den. Blinking at how beautiful the day was, faint stars still twinkled in the dawn's rays and clouds drifted apart. What could go wrong today? With a huff the deputy approached the apprentices den, all of his kit's would be going on patrol with him today. "Badgerpaw, Stormpaw, Orcapaw? You'd better be awake it's time for the patrol today." The deputy spoke strictly, he had told his kit's to get some good sleep for this day. Even though he was not their mentor, he wanted to impress Breezestar after all the tom would be going on patrol as well. "I'll meet you three outside of the camp, don't you even think of holding us back." Rockfall spoke with a slight hiss, his amber eyes narrowing outside of the den as he attempted to peer inside of the darkness. Before trotting out towards breezestar, he haulted in surprisement of his daughter speeding out of the den. His amber eyes blinking with amusement.

Orcapaw shifted in her nest, feeling the sun pierce directly towards her eyes. Groaning she shifted positions, hoping to get just a few more minutes before she would wake up. Though the sound of her fathers voice had told Orcapaw otherwise. The fluffy apprentice jolted awake, her head snapping up blinking rapidly. "Late!?! Did Rockfall just say we were late!?!" Orcapaw said frantically shoving her siblings rather brutally. "Come onnn! let's gooo!!" The apprentice called out, rather annoyed. Sighing with irritation when they didn't move that much, "I'll meet you guys outside then!" Orcapaw mewed quickly bolting out of the den and sprinting past her father. Before skidding to a hault when she saw Breezestar. "Heh.. Morning.. Um B-Breezestar.." Orcapaw had mewed nervously, dipping her head in respect towards the old leader. Blinking as she noticed that she was the first one out here, was she even late? With a gulp, Orcapaw looked towards Breezestar, it was going to be awkward talking to the tom since they never actually talked before. Hopefully the others won't take long to come out here, "S-So... where are we patrolling today?" Orcapaw meowed, curious.

"Yes we are mouse-brain." Be-grudgingly meowed Stonepaw as she stumbled tiredly out of the den. Flicking her ears with annoyance as she walked out into the clearing and gave Orcapaw a playful swat of the paw before sitting down and wrapping her tail around her paws, her body quivering with excitement.

Fawnspirit padded from the warrior's den, yawning. She was to go on patrol with Breezestar and others today. She made her way over to her mate and the few apprentices that had already gathered over near the entrance of the camp.

Orcapaw's obnoxious voice filled the apprentices den, and felt as if the whole clan had heard her. At the same moment Orcapaw was going off, a paw poked him endlessly until he finally opened his eyes. In front of him sat a black apprentice who looked rather impatient. Oh, that's today. Groggily the apprentice rose. With his sister firmly pressed against his side, they followed the other apprentices out of the den, and joined the meager crowd that had begun to form.

Silently, a brown tom trudged from the shadows of the warriors' den. He had been assigned the morning patrol with various other Clanmates. He eyed Breezestar, green eyes gleaming. "Breezestar, don't you think this is a bit much for a simple morning patrol?" Larktalon's eyes scanned the cats gathering around them. A total of 10 cats. Was Breezestar up to something, or was he just not familiar with assigning patrols since that was the deputy's duty? Either way, the bustling of cats so early made the SkyClan warrior flatten his ears in disgust.

Blazepaw emerged from the apprentice den and padded over to the group of cats. "Why so many cats?"

"Good morning." Breezestar purred at his deputy, then the small apprentice, and everyone who showed up there after. His amber gaze rested on Orcapaw, amused by her shy nature. "We'll be patrolling the border along ThunderClan and RiverClan today." He meowed, glad that she'd asked him - even if he wasn't her mentor, it still seemed nice to him.

His ears bent backwards once Larktalon had approached, his tongue as sharp as ever. "You speak as boldly as a deputy. Rockfall must be wary." He muttered, teasing passively. He just wanted his entire lovely clan to get together and bake cakes and have a good time, okay? God. ;_; "We're still the newest clan in the forest. We should come to appreciate our company in each other, as a whole." Breezestar muttered with a smile. If they didn't learn to find family in one another then, well... Look at what happened with Softsong... "I've heard of tensions along the river borders as well. It's best we be prepared if anything were to happen with ThunderClan."

The gray tabby gave another glance at all the cats there before turning around and heading off. "Lets go!" He called.

"Why was Skyclan driven off? I had heard elders talking about it but I didn't hear the reason." Blazepaw asked his leader.

Breezestar blinked in surprise at Blazepaw's sudden question, but didn't stop walking. It wasn't a story he didn't mind telling. Sometimes it was easy to forget not everyone made the journey to the forest. "SkyClan was never driven out. It died out." He meowed, staring ahead as they patrolled. "The leader before me, Silentstar, was one of the few SkyClan cats left in the forest. StarClan sent her on a great journey to rebuild the clan, leaving the forest behind and looking for those who would join her." He explained, thinking back on it. It wasn't that long ago, but at the same time, it felt like forever. "She found cats, like myself and Rockfall, and we came back a fully formed SkyClan." He suddenly went quiet a moment. "Of course not everyone welcome us back. ThunderClan and WindClan had taken our land and tried to drive us out, but we had help, and we're still here - thank StarClan."

Blazepaw thought for a moment. "Why would they keep us off our territory? They have their own territory. What use would more land be? Besides tiring out your border patrols."

Crud, crud, crud, crud. The sound of pawsteps started to grow louder until Badgerpaw came bursting out of a bush behind them, before attempting to silently fall in step next to his sister Ocrapaw, hoping that nobody would notice that he had just arrived. So he might of overslept a bit, shush. He really should of listened to his sister when she attempted to wake him up...He was sure that somebody would notice him, but he could deal with that later. He just didn't want to miss this border patrol...His ears perked as he attempted to hear the words that Blazepaw and Breezestar were exchanging, feeling like it could be important.

Fawnspirit slowly padded with them, scenting the air every so often, checking for any signs of intruders. She listened to Breezestar's story about SkyClan dying out and coming back. She hadn't been a part of that but it sounded cool, but harrowing and scary at the same time.
