Fawns and Breezes

Fawnspirit made her way slowly along the branches of the trees in SkyClan territory, enjoying the views, and the beauty of the warm day. She found a good spot in the fork of a branch where sun shone through the trees, dappling on her fawn-colored fur. She lay there, observing the ground below, watching carefully for any movement beneath her.

A sudden noise behind her made her start, leading her to jump up instinctively, and her paws to slip. She reached out with her front paws and grabbed the branch. Dangling precariously, she tried to get a foothold with her hind paws. Her front paws began to slip, and just as they finally slipped off, teeth met in her scruff, pulling her back up to safety.

"Mhhhrr- FawmrSmrrit-"

The greeting came out sounding a bit awkwardly through the fur of her scruff. It sounded a little bad, he thought, but at least he'd been there in time to catch her, otherwise it'd been quite the nasty fall. The gray tabby took a few sharp steps back on the thick branch, helping her back up into the tree. He let out a sigh and a little laugh once they'd both somewhat recovered. "I'm sorry, did I scare you?" Breezestar meowed, his blue eyes glinting curiously. "You're alright, aren't you?"

Fawnspirit sighed with relief when she was rescued and had a firm foothold on the branch again. She turned around to face none other than Breezestar, and chuckled when he did.
"Morning, Breezestar." she answered his greeting, "And it's fine, I was just startled a bit. But I'm okay now."

Breezestar laughed a bit more as she answered, nodding again with a firm smile and getting back up on all four feet. "That's good to hear." He purred, stepping around her and giving a quick glance around the forest. "I wouldn't want anything to happen to you." He almost seemed thoughtful for a moment, seeing a few birds perch nearby before looking back at her.

"Yeah, we can't afford a fall like that, or anything, really." Fawnspirit agreed, following Breezestar's gaze to the birds and looking at them for a while before realizing his gaze was back on her.

The smile didn't leave his face as he glanced back at the prey nearby. Perhaps only wanting to show off just a little bit, Breezestar started to creep down lower onto thinner branches, sneaking up onto the clueless birds nearby. "I hope you're hungry." He called back.

Fawnspirit watched Breezestar make his way slowly towards the birds, stalking them. His question reminded her of the slight hunger that had been growing slowly throughout the day.
"I am quite hungry, thank you." she answered, slightly flattered.

Good, he thought, then he wouldn't be showing off - erm, getting this honest piece of prey for nothing. He narrowed his eyes and move silently, but swiftly, through the trees, as he had done hundreds of times before. He made a quick leap, grabbing a fat sparrow within his paws and ending it's life with a swift bite to the neck. With slight pride, he carried it back and set it gently on the bark by her feet. "Share?" he asked warmly,

"Sure thing, and thank you." Fawnspirit replied and took a bite of the sparrow. Once she took her bite, she moved so Breezestar could as well.

Happily, Breezestar took a bite for himself, looking thoughtful as they shared the small bird. "This is nice." He thought aloud to her. "It's kinda lonely being a leader. You don't get to have many moments like this."

Fawnspirit nodded in understanding. Being leader must be tough. Calling the shots on everything, everyone looking up to you, performing ceremonies, it must be exhausting.
