Hangin in the Riverclan camp (open)

Shimmerpaw sat In the camp, trying to eat a frozen fish. Most of the food in the fresh-kill pile had become frozen. It seemed like she was chewing into a rock. There was some snow on the ground, but not much. It was not even an inch. Shimmerpaw was glad for the lack of snow on the ground because she hated the stuff. It was always clinging to her long fur and making her paws cold and wet. She finally got a piece of fish off of her meal and tried swallowing it. After she managed to get it down her throat, she tried getting off another piece. Shimmerpaw looked up as she saw a cat near-by. "Hello," she said

"Hello." Wailingkit piped up in response as he approached, his grey fur well groomed, as he had avoided the snow. He disliked the cold wet feeling of snow clinging to his fur. Being a young kit, his fur was yet to fully develop the water repellent nature that helped their clanmates stay dry.  

"Did you catch that yourself, Shimmerpaw?" He prodded the fish with a forepaw.

Icekit decided to follow her brother, Wailingkit, around that day. She saw Shimmerpaw and her catch and sat down near them. "Hi Shimmerpaw." She mewed quietly.

Shimmerpaw's ears perked up as two kits approached her. "Hi wailingkit, hi Icekit." The she-cat nodded to each one as she said their name. "Actually, I just got it off the fresh-kill pile," she replied to Wailingkit. "It's really hard to eat because its frozen." Shimmerpaw took another bite, trying hard to rip off a piece of meat. She had to hold down the fish with her feont paws and pull on it hard before she got e piece. "So, what have you two been up to?" She asked, trying to start up a conversation.

Icekit smiled. "Oh! Okay. What I've been up to? Well, I just saw a big bad Shadowclan warrior and attacked it!" She said proudly, then realizing that had been a game she played by herself with a leaf she sighed. "It was actually just a leaf.. But it was still fun!" Her tail swayed and she smiled big and round.

Wailingkit deflated a little, but perked right back up when asked what they'd been doing. He let his sister speak first, the emphasis on let. Mother said he had to be nice to Icekit because she was his sister, no matter how stupid she was, so he did. He was such a nice brother.

"Well I was practicing my stalk, so when I become an apprentice, I'll be the best. Ever." He mewed with pride, obvious intending it to be a jab at Icekit's harmless fun game. He was too grown up for that nonsense.

Shimmerpaw smiled at each kit's response. "Thats great! So do you wanna play a game or something? I haven't played something for a while! Apprentice duties clog up my time." The she-cat pushed her fish aside and stood up, shaking dirt off of her long fur a she did so.

Icekit nodded. "Do you want to play Hide and Seek?" She asked. The she-cat loved stalking and pouncing on her brother when she wasn't playing with Gingerkit or her other friends.

Despite acting like games were too immature for him, Wailingkit perked up immediately at the thought of a game with Shimmerpaw. Even if it meant getting along with his sister. He grudging had to acknowledge a game of hide and seek would be fun, and mewed.

"Yeah, lets play that!" His tail twitched in anticipation.

Shimmerpaw smiled and flicked her tail. "Okay, but lets play hide and seek this way. When the cat that is seeking finds one of the other cats which is hiding, he or she has to catch the cat that is found while they run away. Its like tag hide and seek." Before anyone could respond, Shimmerpaw whipped around and closed her eyes, counting to twenty. "One...two...three..." She tried to listen to hear where the kits would try to hide while she counted.

"Sue that's sounds fun!" Icekit said, smiling. Her face brightened with the idea of playing tag hide and seek.

Immediately when Shimmerpaw started to count, Wailingkit began to run off, but when he noticed his sister had yet to run yet, he hissed.

"Run, Icekit!" And then he ran off to hide in the Elder's den. He knew at this time in the morning they'd be seeking the winter sun to bask in it. The tangle of reeds offered him a good place to hide.

Icekit blinked and nodded. "Um, Okay.." She said quietly and raced to the nursery. Glancing around, she ran to the back and hid behind a rock.

"...19...20!" The she-cat opened her eyes and looked around. Shimmerpaw first checked the warriors den, peeking in and sniffing for one of the kit's scent. Finding neither of them, she raced to the apprentice den and looked around. Again, the she-cat was unsuccessful at finding one. Shimmerpaw checked the nursery. Finally, she searched the elder's den. Shimmerpaw picked up the scent of Wailingkit and looked around. The she-cat caught a glimpse of his fur through the reeds. "Found you," she yelled as she pounced into the reeds, hoping to catch the tom.

Wailingkit had braced himself for potentially being found, but hearing Shimmerpaw meow that she'd spotted him still sent a thrill of surprise through him which made him squeak. He knew he was backed in a corner, the safe hiding place of the Elder's den also made in a trap, a foxhole from which he couldn't escape. But it wasn't all over yet, she still had to catch him.

So he dug his claws in, crouched down low, ready to bound out once he saw his chance. Although if Shimmerpaw was careful enough, he woukd stand no chance against the apprentice. He was counting on her thinking he had given up.
