Mentor-to-Apprentice Adventure

EagleWing sat down by the ThunderClan camp entrance and waited for Blazepaw. He was excited to show his second apprentice around, but he didn't show it much at all. "Blazepaw!" He called to his apprentice and stalked to the apprentice den. The tom flicked his tail before he stood their patiently.

The tom was up and out of the apprentice den and joined his mentor. "Yes, Eaglewing?"

"It's time for an adventure in the ThunderClan territory." The handsome white warrior told his apprentice and stood taller. "Before we leave, I need to tell you the rules." Eaglewing blinked his eyes and looked at Blazepaw to see if he was paying attention.

Blazepaw nodded, he was excited but didn't want to come off as an immature apprentice, even though that's what he was most of the time. He was about to follow his mentor but he didn't move. The tom rocked back and sat down, he wanted to scoff at what was about to come out of Eaglewing's mouth. Rules smules. He thought.

EagleWing was quick enough to see Blazepaw's expression and glared at him. "As long as you are a clan cat, there will always be rules--whether you like it or not. The warrior code is a list of rules." He blinked his eyes and flicked his tail. "Now these rules are simple, so I expect you to follow them. Or you will find yourself staring at fleas and ticks for the rest of the day. The rules are: always stay with me, when something is wrong, tell me and always follow directions. Any questions?"

The young tom sat there blankly and listened to his mentor rant on about the rules. Of course he listened and they didn't seem too hard to follow. He shook his head and waited for what was next.

"Good, let's get started." Eaglewing nodded his head and padded over to the camp entrance. "First, we are visiting the Great Sycamore. It's a big tree with dusty rocks piling around it. Animals like badgers and adders live there." He explained as he went into the territory with his apprentice.

Falling behind his mentor he listened to where they were off to first. He had to admit it sounded a little dangerous, but he ate danger for breakfast but things like that didn't do much to scare him, so he wasn't the least bit worried.

"There is the Great Sycamore--this is all in the Snackrocks area." Before he made his way toward the rocks piled under the tree, he sniffed around for signs of enemies. A very faint smell of a badger came in his nose as he stalked closer. Sniffing again, nothing else came with the badger scent and Eaglewing sighed with relief. His gaze shifted to Blazepaw. "What can you smell?" The white tom asked his apprentice to test his scenting skills.

Taking in all the terrain as far as the eye could see and then listened to his mentor once again. It took him a while to process the question but inhaled deeply. Though he knew it was the wrong answer, "Nothing."

Eaglewing tilted his head in confusion at Blazepaw. "Really? You can't smell anything?" The tom narrowed his eyes in disbelief. Any apprentice could smell that! What's wrong with his nose? He's not kidding, is he?! "Sniff again and make sure you do it carefully. I can't believe you can't smell that. I don't want to believe that I have to teach you how to use you how to use your nose when you had to as a kit."
