Fighting the Fox

Lightningpaw opened his yellow orbs and looked around, a sly grin on his face. It was around moonhigh, and it was the perfect time to sneak out of camp. He quickly and quietly stood up and leaped out of his nest and out of the den. Stopping in the moonlight, the tom arched his back and flexed his claws, scoring deep marks in the earth. Lightningpaw looked up at the moon and a starlit figure was staring at him with dark green eyes. Mom! The sight made memories flood back into his mind. The cat winced as he saw his mother and father's dead bodies. Shaking it off, he focused on leaving the camp. He trotted out of the entrance and climbed a tree, looking around. His gaze flickered over a pair of menacing eyes in a bush and circled the clearing again, thinking it was another ThunderClan cat. A snarl ripped through the trees, echoing slightly. Only then did the cat realize that this was no Clanmate. A scent floated over him and it dawned on him that it was a fox. The figure stepped out of the trees, glaring at Lightningpaw. Once again, a deep snarl came from the fox. Its jaws snapped and the bushy tail lashed angrily. Since the tom was still in the tree, he took the time to scan the fox. Its muzzle wasn't flecked with silver, but replaced with long scars. There were gashes on its flank and some claws were missing. The perfect thing to satisfy his needs and to fight. Before he could leap down from the tree, he heard some heavy paw-steps emerging from the camp. He didn't care. The cat leaped down from the tree and added more gashes to the fox's already scarred face. "Take that, fleabag!" he hissed and continued fighting. The two fought for a while, until the fox slashed the back of his neck and chewed on one of the gray cat's ears. Three memories flashed through his mind: Coalheart's dead body, Minnowflash's dead body, and the spirit of his mother next to the moon. He felt life fading from him, until he woke up feeling severe pain. "Wha- where am I?" he mumbled. The cat was laying inside ThunderClan camp.

Duckpaw woke up with a start, was that a dream? Then he yowled in suprise as he saw the fix. He hissed in its face, watching it scamper away. With tears filling his eyes he looked at the cat before him. "Lightningpaw, wake up. Please wake up!" His yowl echoed as he nuzzled his friend. "Why? You lost everything and then you die?!?" He said eyes burning and anger filled. Then he sighed as he saw him open his eyes and ask, "You are in Thunderclan camp." He told the tom.
(Wasn't sure if he opened his eyes in StarClan or living so I guessed :P)

Lightningpaw smiled weakly and looked up at Duckpaw. "Thanks," he mewed.

Maplebloom rushed into camp and to Lightningpaw's side. "What happened? Do I need to get the medicine cat?"

EagleWing rushed in after Maplebloom. He narrowed his eyes and tilted his head at Lightningpaw. "Who did this?"

Duckpaw turned around to face Maplebloom. "Yes now go!!" He told her eyes wide with fear. "A fox, yes your welcome. Now stop talking to save your breath." He said to each before looking around scared.

Maplebloom ran as fast as she could to the medicine cat's den, not taking a breath until she got there. "Nightfire! An apprentice got attacked by a fox! He needs help!"

EagleWing stayed with the apprentices to protect them. He paced around and looked around a lot of times.

Lightningpaw smiled once, and closed his eyes and twitched his tail back and forth gently to let the other cats know he wasn't dead.
