Fishing in the Dark

Shallowpaw sat in the bushes, trying to escape from Clan life. He leaned against the tree and thought of a certain cat. He heard rustling in his hiding place, and a figure approached him. "Shimmerpaw?" He whispered, wanting to hide from any other cat.

As Shimmerpaw padded through Riverclan's territory, a familiar scent came to her, and she tried to follow the smell. It led to a bush. Soon she heard the voice that matched the sent. "Shallowpaw?" She asked a she moved closer. "What are you doing?"

He sighed. "Thinking about things.. I can't seem to get you out of my mind! Plus, I'm trying to hide from any other cat," he admitted.

Shimmerpaw entered the bushes and sat down next to her mate and best friend. "Aww, Shallowpaw! I cant get you out of my head to! But...whats wrong? Why are you hiding from other cats?" She suddenly felt really worried and concerned.

Shallowpaw sensed her concern for him and grinned reassuringly. "It's okay! I just wanted to see you, that's all! And I don't want to go hunting or do apprentice duties."

Shimmerpaw nodded. "Same with me! I don't like being an apprentice...it's so much work!" She was grateful for this time alone with her mate. "I wish that there was more time for us to be together!"

An idea formed in Shallowpaw's head. "Want to go tell the warriors that we're 'going fishing'?" He grinned and winked.

Shimmerpaw giggled. "Yah! Lets do that! We'll finally have some time together!"

"Anything for you, sweetheart!" he purred and looked over at Shimmerpaw.

Shimmerpaw's stomach tingled and she was so happy. "Aww, Shallowpaw!" She nuzzled her mate's flank

"So, shall we go tell a warrior that we're going 'fishing'?" he meowed.

Shimmerpaw giggled and nodded. "Come on, let's go!" She got up and started walking.

He leaped up and trotted closer to her. Shallowpaw didn't even have time to take his place next to her side.

Shimmerpaw looked back. "Hurry up Shallowpaw, wouldn't want to be left alone without me," she teased as she brushed her tail under his chin.

He stopped mid-step. Staring at her with his toungue hanging out. Not thinking, he sunk to the ground.
