Bothering Nightfire

Morningpaw was resting outside of the apprentice den as she watched cats go from one place to the next, but her eyes kept flicking toward the medicine cat den. She had found that the idea of fighting; while it had excited her as a kit, had never been really what she had been expected. While it was true she held distaste for the other Clans, the idea of hurting them wasn't a fond one to her. She had always been a bit excited by what Nightfire had done thought. Healing the cats who got hurt...Talking to StarClan themselves! She paused for a few seconds before she forced herself to her paws and slowly made her way to the medicine cat den, before she poked her head in. "Ni-Nightfire?" she said, hoping she wasn't bothering him if he was busy. "A-Are you in there?"

Marigold and Chervil. Thats what he needed. Pushing the last pile of herbs into their storage place before getting up and starting toward the entrance of the den. A voice and the face of Morningpaw stopped him in his tracks. "Yes I am, I was just heading out though." he moved past her into the camp, his huge form towering over her. "What did you need Morningpaw?"

Morningpaw took a step back, surprised when Nightfire came out of the den. Her gaze shifted around a bit, before she sighed and finally let her gaze lock with the Medicine Cat. "I was just...Wondering what it as like being a Medicine Cat," she said, shifting on her paws. "I just..." she paused for a few seconds, quickly ditching what she was going to say for something new. "W-What are you heading out for?" This question was a bit quick to be asked; but she was hoping that it was something like picking herbs; because that means that maybe she would be able to tag along!

Smirking, Nightfire flicked his tail for Morningpaw to follow him. No cat would just ask about herbs or being a medicine cat without having a certain interest. Maybe he would get an apprentice. Walking out of camp he spoke to the she-cat. "I'm getting Marigold and Chervil for storage. I'm running low."

Morningpaw grinned as she followed after Nightfire, but titled her head slightly as he mentioned the two herbs. "Marigold and Chervil? What do those two look like?" she asked as she padded along him, ready to help him pick herbs.

Morningpaw nodded, trying to picture what they looked like. There was a small spring in her step as she followed Nightfire. She hoped that her mentor wouldn't mind her going out to help Nightfire; but being a Medicine Cat did peak an interest in her. As they walked, she paused as she wondered if she could become a Medicine Cat apprentice, but her ears fell down a bit. She didn't know anything about being a medicine cat; for all she knew she wouldn't like it and she didn't want to disappoint her mentor...She just wasn't sure all that much if she did want to become a warrior.

Stopping at the border of Sunningrocks, he looked to Morningpaw. "Can you point out Marigold?" Looking to the edge of the rocks, he found a little spread out patch of marigold. But, he waited for Morningpaw to guess.

When they came to a stop, Morningpaw was a bit surprised when Nightfire spoke up. Point out Marigold? She froze, her eyes wide. She hadn't even seen any before; she only had what Nightfire had said. However, she shook her head and took in a deep breath. Of course; yellow flower didn't exactly help much because there were a lot of yellow flowers...But it grew closer to the river...She wandered toward the edge of the rocks and near the river, glancing around. A flicker of yellow caught her eye, and she saw a small patch of yellow flowers sticking up from the edge of the rocks. She padded over, and after studying it for a few seconds, she looked up at Nightfire. "I-I think I found some!"

Smiling, Nightfire nodded his approval. "Grab some. And then I want you to point out Chervil after bringing me the Marigold" This one was smart and quick.

Morningpaw grinned as she leaned down and gently picked the small group of herbs. With the Marigold held firmly in her jaw, she made her way back to Nightfire and dropped it gently at his paws. She turned to look back at the rocks. Chervil...Large...Leafy, fern-life leaves...White flowers. She ran that through her mind as she hoped from rock to rock; glancing at the cracks and ground around them. Finally she found a plant that looked like it, and she couched down to study it. She gently poked it with her paw, before sighing.

It sure looked like Chervil; but it was rather small, clearly not fully bloomed yet. It didn't seem right to pick a flower when it could grow more; mostly if it grew more it would be even more useful. So, she stood up and started  her search again. For some reason; this seemed more right than learning how to fight, and more fun. Trying to find plants just from what Nightfire had told her, she kinda liked this part of being a medicine cat.

Of course, she knew that maybe when they were done picking herbs she would have to ask Nightfire more about what a medicine cat did; she wasn't clear on that. She also wondered that maybe if Nightfire liked her enough, if Dewstar would let her become her apprentice if she wanted too. She knew the Clan needed more warriors, but surely having a medicine cat apprentice wouldn't hurt as well?

All these thoughts ran though her head as she moved around the rocks, but she stopped when she spotted another clump of what she figured was Chervil. This time, the plant was large and fully bloomed, which caused her to smile. She hopped down and gently picked it in her mouth before hopped on the rock and looking at Nightfire. "Is this it?" she called; but she was much more sure than she had been with the Marigold.

Nice, the apprentice had sense to not pick a non fully bloomed flower. "Great job Morningpaw. Find another and catch up to me. I trust you to find the right one" he mewed before picking up the marigold and taking the one chervil from Morningpaw. Walking slowly back to camp, he knew she was right behind him and he went back into his den.

The apprentice nodded, happily going back to looking for another Chervil plant. She quickly found some, and after picking it; went racing after Nightfire. When Morningpaw caught up; she slowed down to the pace he was walking. Even as they reached the camp and he ducked into his den, she followed after him. Mostly for two reasons; she still have to give him the clump of chervil she had gotten and the fact she still wanted to ask him questions.

Putting the marigold and chervil in place, Nightfire pointed towards the pile of chervil for Morningpaw. "If any of the elders complain about stiff joints, tell me to get them Marigold. It helps with that. Or if anyone complains about a bellyache, tell me to get them Chervil"

As she dropped the Chervil into the pile, her ears perked as she listened to Nightfire. Stiff joints...Marigold. Bellyache, Chervil. She could remember that...She hoped. She sat down as she let all of the different scents run over her, enjoying the scents. However, she paused as she glanced at Nightfire, her tail flicking as she placed it over her paws. "Hey...Nightfire, what is it like being a Medicine Cat?"
