I Am A New Kit Needing A Friend!

Amberkit woke up and stretched. She ran outside excited to be first seeing the sight of ThunderClan. "Wow! This is a big camp!" Amberkit meowed as she peeked into all the dens. Amberkit noticed a smell that drew her attention. She turned to face a pile of meat. "Wouldn't mind one myself!" Amberkit shouted excitedly. She ran over and took a fresh mouse from the pile and ran back into the nursery.

Amberkit layed the mouse down on her bed and chewed it up quickly so she could have time to explore the camp more. She sniffed the air breathing in the warm scent of ThunderClan and then ran out of the nursery eager to find adventure or maybe even a friend.

Russetkit, who had been sitting by the fresh-kill pile, spotted Amberkit racing around camp, eyes wide. Feeling bored and with nothing else to do, Russetkit padded up to the new kit. "Hi there!", Russetkit mewed, trying to sound all happy-and-excited-like, though she was really not. "I'm Russetkit, what's your name?". She didn't know why she asked that, she already knew the kit's name. Russetkit shrugged to herself. Whatever, if it made the younger kit happy, then that's all that mattered.

Amberkit turned to face another kit calling her name. "Hello! My name is Amberkit. I am new to ThunderClan! What is your name?" Amberkit asked, excited to meet another cat of her age. Amberkit licked her paws briefly then looked at the kit wondering if it could be a sign of a new friendship.

Russetkit was pretty sure that she had just told the kit her name, but she once again shrugged to herself. "I'm Russetkit", she told Amberkit, whose big eyes seemed filled with happiness and possible admiration. Russetkit shifted uncomfortably under the kit's gaze, and they continued to stare at each other. Finally, Russetkit decided to break the silence. "Err........do you, um....... wanna play a game?" Russetkit asked, then waited for the kit's reply.

Amberkit tried to contain her excitement. "What type of game?" Amberkit said quietly to Russetkit. Amberkit felt a bit nervous but she liked how nice the kit was asking her. "I will play any game!" Amberkit said a little louder and looked at Russetkit with a smile.

Russetkit shrugged (AGAIN) and glanced around, hoping to find some inspiration in her surroundings. Her flitting gaze finally rested on the elders den, which gave her an idea. She knew that the apprentices sometimes had to clear the elders' spoiled moss......... Russetkit turned to Amberkit. "How 'bout a game of moss-ball?" she offered.

Amberkit was a little confused but she nodded her head at Russetkit. "Sure! I will play moss-ball." Amberkit mewed. She nudged Russetkit eager to play.

Russetkit looked around to spot a scrap of moss laying off to the side. She quickly raced over to it, waded it into a ball, and said to Amberkit,"All you do is toss the ball back and forth" She then tossed it to Amberkit.

Amberkit pounced on the ball and wacked it back to Russetkit with her paw. "Here you go!" Amberkit said.

Russetkit quickly caught it before it could sail past her, then batted it back to Amberkit.

Amberkit grasped the ball of moss in her paws and pushed it back towards Russetkit. "I hope this does not go out of camp!" Amberkit meowed loudly.

Russetkit chuckled as she leaped forward to grab the ball. "Don't worry", she called to Amberkit,"I don't think it can go high enough to go over the camp walls". Lashing her tail, Russetkit flung the ball back to Amberkit.

"Thats good." Amberkit said as she pounced on the ball in mid-air. She laid it down in front of her and went into a crouching position. Amberkit shook her tail and pounced on the ball in front of her. She then wacked it hard with her front paws back to Russetkit.

As Russetkit, pounced on the moss ball, she sighed. She was getting kind of bored of just tossing the ball back and forth. Ears flat, she gazed around camp, noticing that no warriors were around. As her olive green gaze settled on the camp entrance, she smiled. There was no one on watch, which meant no one would see a couple of kits wandering around. Perfect.
Stumbling on her big paws, she padded over to Amberkit. "Hey", she said, dropping her voice to a whisper. "Do you wanna explore outside the camp?" She smiled, eyes gleaming, as she waited for an answer.

Amberkit's eyes widened and stared at the camp entrance. "That would be awesome! Just be really quiet and make sure we don't get caught!" Amberkit whispered to Russetkit excitedly. Amberkit loved the idea of venturing into the forest but she would be in big trouble if she got caught. But who knows? This adventure could lead to some fresh-kill for the clan.

Amberkit nudged Russetkit eager to set a paw onto the grassy surface beyond the camp. Amberkit couldn't wait to see the sights and sounds of the forest beyond the nursery.
