Dawnpaw as an apprentice

Dawnpaw padded into the apprentice den full of excitement. " hi everyone! I'm Dawnpaw. " looking around the den, she added, " where can I sleep?"

Giving a big yawn, Mousepaw looked up at the new apprentice from her nice little nap. She had been running around quite a bit earlier in the day, but suddenly she was interrupted by this new apprentice? Blinking herself awake, she finally glanced up at Dawnpaw before glancing around the den. There were a few empty spots here and there but it was a fairly full den. "You can choose anywhere you like! As long as the spot is empty." The tiny apprentice looked around one last time before seeing an empty spot not too far from herself. "If you want, you can make your nest right over here next to me!" she replied, flicking her tail towards the empty area.

Dawnpaws gaze drifted over to the empty spot Next to mousepaw and smiled. "That would be great! Thanks mousepaw!" She sat down and began grooming herself. Dawnpaw stopped licking and Mewed to mousepaw, " if your done with your nap, would you like to go hunting?"

Standing up to shake the remnants of sleep out of herself, she stretched for a second before looking back at Dawnpaw. Hunting sounded like a great idea. "Yeah! We can go hunting! Maybe I'll finally be able to catch that one squirrel that's been avoiding me for a few days now!" she said, suddenly excited about their plans. How awesome would that be? Surely Specklefur would be proud of her for that.

" great!" Dawnpaw turned and lead the way through the camp and our to the forest. Lifting her nose in the air, Dawnpaw smelled a vole scrabbling in the under growth. Signaling to mousepaw that she got this one, Dawnpaw slowly walked in a wide circle around the vole until she was downwind of it. Crouching low to the the ground, she waited and then pounced on the vole, killing it with one swift bite.

"H-Hey, wait up!" Mousepaw shouted as she quickly tried to follow the new apprentice. When they finally got into the territory, the she-cat looked around and lifted her nose in the air. After Dawnpaw had found the scent of something, Mousepaw decided she was going to try the other direction. But, with it being so cold, she didn't know if she was going to find very much. After hearing Dawnpaw catch the vole, she turned around and looked at Dawnpaw with a happy look. "Great job, Dawnpaw! Now... if only I can find something..."

Dawnpaw lifted her nose to the air and sniffed. " mousepaw I think I smell a rabbit, it must have strayed over the wind clan border." Dawnpaw meowed, pointing her tail in the direction of the wind clan border. " you can catch it. "

Looking around and still sniffing the air, Mousepaw finally picked up the scent. In fact, it actually was a rabbit. Or at least, that's what Mousepaw thought it was. It was a very strange smell, something that the young apprentice was not familiar with. "Alright I'll get it!!" crawling towards the smell until she saw the tiny animal. Leaping towards it, she was heading straight for the rabbit until it dashed out from underneath her paws before she could land on it. Mouse dung!!" she grumbled as she watched the rabbit run off.

Dawnpaw watched the rabbit run off towards the windclan border and Mewed, " that's okay. Rabbits are the hardest to catch. Lets try by the training hollow. With any luck, we'll get a squirrel or two. " careful not to scare any prey away, Dawnpaw crept through the undergrowth and toward the training hollow, making sure mousepaw was close behind her the whole way.
