Finally an Apprentice!

Minnowpaw stretched in his nest and flicked open his eyes. Yawning, he stood up wearily and arched his back in a relaxing manoeuvre. Minnowpaw swivelled his head round the body filled den, Silverpaw snoring very softly in her sleep like she was having a good dream. Other apprentices were beginning to stir as Minnowpaws belly rumbled.

Stormpaw rolled over from the sound of stomach-rumbling, away from her sister, who she had curled up ext to for the night. She yawned but did not awaken, though her ears perked instinctively in her sleep.
Hailpaw's eyes flicked open, being a rather light-sleeper. She raised her head quickly and glanced over at Minnowpaw in curiosity. She tipped her head questioningly but said nothing, not wanting to wake up the others.

Silverpaw woke up at the sound of stomach rumbling. She lifted her head up and looked at Minnowpaw. She got up and stretched lightly before she padded from the den.

Minnowpaw watched Silverpaw exit the den and followed. "So, how's your mentor?" He asked, blinking in the harsh light which turned Silverpaws' fur to a dazzling sparkle.

Stormpaw yawned and got up, glancing at Hailpaw. Silently, the two followed the others outside then paused. There were quite a few apprentices!
Hailpaw nudged her sister. "Maybe we should try to make some friends." She mewed quietly. Stormpaw nodded in agreement.
"Yeah. Hey!" She called out, flicking her tail tip in greeting. "You're Silverpaw and uh..."
"Minnowpaw." Hailpaw whispered, helping her out.
"...and Minnowpaw!" Stormpaw finished in a friendly tone.

""He's fine"Silverpaw mewed looking at Minnowpaw smiling lightly at him. Then looked at Hailpaw and Stormpaw"hello"she mewed.

Minnowpaw turned his silver and white splashed head over his shoulder to their denmates. "Hi, whats it like having the clan leader as your mentor?" He purred, trying to hide his slight jealousy.

Stormpaw smiled excitedly at the mention of their mentor. "It sure is exciting to know we'll be training under one of the best, but I don't Think Reedstar thinks of us any more than the other apprentices." She purred.
Hailpaw nodded and put on a small, gentle smile. "Which is fine of course, since we're not exactly special or anything. How about your mentors? What's it like training with Littlelight?" She asked, sincerely interested in what Minnowpaw thought of the smaller warrior who was mentoring him. Since they first met Littlelight as kits, Hailpaw had always looked up to him. He seemed kind and courageous and brave. She wanted to be like him someday!

"I haven't trained with him yet, but I bet it will be great!" He meowed. "Anyone else starving?" Minnowpaw put in, tilting his head to the fresh kill pile.

Silverpaw watched them talk quietly. She looked at Minnowpaw when he asked if anyone else was starving"I'm sorta starving I'd rather not exaggerate"Silverpaw mewed.

Stormpaw nodded eagerly and turned to run towards the pile when Hailpaw leaped in front of her.
"Wait." She meowed urgently but still rather quiet due to her shyer nature. "Don't we have to hunt for the clan before we can eat? Though neither of us have had hunting training yet, and Minnowpaw says he hasn't been trained either."

Stormclaw padded into the clearing, the patrol dispersed in many directions. He padded over near the new apprentices, which were talking to Minnowpaw....and Silverpaw. He had recently become a warrior, leaving behind Silverpaw. 'Fox-dung, why does she differ from the rest?' he had no idea. But, he wanted to socialize with the new apprentices, Stormpaw and Hailpaw. 'Wow, and I never want to socialize' He heard them talk about hunting. "I can take you out to hunt."

Silverpaw looked at Stormclaw at the mention of hunting. She looked away quickly and went to the fresh kill pile.

Minnowpaw looked over his shoulder and sat down at the foot of the mountain of fish. "Whats on the menu today?" He meowed and sniffed a plump trout. "Like to share?" Minnowpaw asked Silverpaw as she padded over.

Hailpaw wistfully watched the two walk away. "But...The warrior code says...!" She murmured helplessly. With a sigh, she turned to look gratefully at Stormclaw. "I'd love to learn to hunt, i-if it's okay."
Stormpaw basically flopped out as Stormclaw appeared. "Hunting?! Yes! I wanna go! Will you really show us how to hunt, Stormclaw? You're so awesome!" She squealed, now ignoring the fact that the other two had walked off. They were missing out!
Hailoaw shuffled her paws. "But Sleepystar's our mentor, so is it really okay?" She whispered. Her sister tipped her head. "He may be our mentor, but apprentices are helped trained by all the warriors. Reedstar is really busy with leader-stuff, so I'm sure he wont mind." Stormpaw explained. Reassured, Hailpaw nodded and quieted down.
