Longpaw's Assessment

Twistedfoot paced around the camp, his tail swishing back and forth as he waited for Longpaw to appear. Guilt pricked at the tom's fur due to the fact that Longpaw should of been a warrior by now, but with Twistedfoot's litters of kits and the death of Patcheye, he had lost all will to train Longpaw...But it owed it to his sister to complete it, after all, Longpaw was Patcheye's son. It was time for Longpaw's assessment.

"I'm ready Twistedfoot, what are we going to do today?" Chirped the apprentice as he bounded up towards his mentor and relative, a grin painted on his face as he stopped a fox length away from his mentor.

Twistedfoot looked t his nephew with a smile as he stopped his pacing, before turning and nodding toward the moor with his head. "Come on, I'll explain on the way." He trotted into the territory, only looking back once to make sure that Longpaw was following him. "Today we are at the final stage of your training; your assessment. The rules of the assessment is simple; try to catch five pieces of prey before sundown. I will be following you as you hunt, but I will do my best to stay hidden. Even if you think you see me, just act like you didn't and keep going." He finally came to a stop as he turned to face Longpaw. "Got that? If so, then your assessment starts now!"

The apprentice burst forward, his orange fur flying and tugging at his form as he ran, his focus set on catching as much as he could, a slight look of determination painting his features, and soon enough the apprentice stopped and crouched his fur blending nearly perfectly in the long grass as he waited and smelled for prey, his green eyes narrowing to slits as his vision focused on a brown to beige ratio, but next to it was a peach to white colored, this apprentice was going to aim to get the two at the same time, Longpaw crept slowly towards the two rabbits, as he neared close enough he tightened and followed a leap aiming for the two rabbits. He let out a hiss of unsatisfactory as he missed one of the rabbits, he really wanted both of them but he had missed, but thankfully he had gotten the first, so the apprentice buried it and continued on his way to find another rabbit or field mouse.

As the apprentice ventured further and further into the moor he was bombarded by smells of prey he soon crouched, his maw open as he traced another fresh scent of prey, it smelt of mouse as he focused on the trail to find the prey, his green eyes now resting on the mouse as he crouched, his paws slowly moving forwards as he leaped. His claws swiped forward onto the mouses head, successfully killing it, repeating with his rabbit he buried it and continued on his way.
