Mosspelt's Leader Ceremony

Mosspelt sat in the middle of the clearing, staring up at the stars while waiting for Brightpaw and Lionstar. He was extremely nervous, not sure what becoming a leader was like. His responsibility was one thing he was nervous about, not sure on how he would be at being leadr. He would have Lionstar around for a little bit to help him, but not forever.

((@Lion: Do you want to give him his last life?))

Ooc: I'm not sure it works like that since he's not dead, but why not?
Anyways, we'll move on without Brightpaw. Bright was deleted.

Ic: Lionstar, who would soon become Lionheart once again, lumbered over to Mosspelt, who would soon become Mossstar. "Ready to go?" He asked with a quiet yawn, following the tom's gaze. "We'll have to head out very soon and keep a quick pace. It's already getting late."

Mosspelt nodded "Yes Lionstar. Are you ready?" He joked lightly, looking over at the older tom with a slight bit of humor in his green eyes. He rose up and walked a few law steps forward and waited for Lionstar to follow in suit.

Lionstar nodded, following a bit slower. "Let's go then." He chuckled, and kept walking. As they padded through the territory towards the Thunderpath, he decided to ask something he had been a little curious of for a while. "So, have you an idea of your new deputy?" The tom queried, taking a side-long glance at Mosspelt.

Mosspelt padded into the forest, keeping a steady pace with Lionstar. He shrugged at his question "I don't know...I'm leaning towards Dewclaw. She's a very loyal warrior." he said, sort of hoping the elder tom could help him with his choice.

Lionstar grunted. "She's an obvious choice, despite being a senior warrior for quite some time. But I don't want to interfere with your choice." The tom agreed, going silent after that. Soon they reached the Thunderpath, and thank Starclan it was quiet today. The old leader quickly made his way across so Mosspelt didn't have to worry about him.

Mosspelt nodded as Lionstat spoke, now knowing the deputy would be Dewclaw. He stayed silent even once they got to the Thunderpath. He watched as Lionstar went across, then once he was over Mosspelt followed him, running across. Then he started again, a little slowly at first so Lionstar could catch up.

He followed rather quickly. The stars were shining a little brighter as they began to traverse across the small stretch of Windclan territory that separated them from Highstones. Lionstar picked up the pace, wanting to make it there before the moon was too high in the sky.

Ooc: In case any Windclanners want to stop and question them for a sec, I'll go ahead and pause there.

Mosspelt matched Lionstars pace, also seeing the moon gaining in height. His stomach felt weird in his body, nervous about how getting his lives would feel like. Would it hurt? Would it feel good? Would it feel like anything at all? He asked himself these questions, but he didn't know.

Soon they had successfully passed through the small stretch of Windclan territory separating them from Highstones. As they passed by the old abandon barn, however, it was becoming noticeable that Lionstar had grown tired with exhaustion. Still, he pressed on, not wanting to ruin this for his deputy who deserved it so much.
As long as they kept the steady pace, it wasn't long until Highstones came into view. Lionstar sighed in relief and relaxed, previously growing worried since the moon was high in the sky now. "Quickly, we must climb through the tunnel inside and get to the Moonstone. It's already Moonhigh." The tom rasped, the urgency in his voice pressing himself on.

Mosspelt kept a steady pace, the feeling in his stomach growing stronger and stronger. As we neared Highstones he looked up at the stars, feeling as if StarClan was with him already, watching his every move. He nodded to Lionstar then took a step towards the tunnel which bore his leadership, his future.

Lionstar led the way quickly into the tunnel, knowing the path from several visits. "Use your whiskers to avoid the walls and follow close behind. It's incredibly dark in here." He warned, walking on. The path would turn and slope occasionally, but it wasn't too long before light began to filter into view.
"Here we are. The moonstone!" Lionstar purred, padding into the small, lit up cave. The small hole in the roof allowed moonlight into the cave which lit up the large stone, making it sparkle in all its greatness and beauty.

Lionstar padded up to the stone, lying down in front of it. He turned to look at Mosspelt and beckoned him forward with his tail. "Lie down in front of the stone, close your eyes, and press your nose to it." He instructed, waiting for him to go first.

Mosspelt nodded and followed in suit with the leader, he felt his whiskers brush along the wall as he walked, the darkness seeming unending. As the light suddenly filled his eyes he had to blink a few times just to focus his vision. He listened to Lionstar then laid down in front of the stone wearily before he closed his eyes and pressed his nose to the stone, sleep overcoming him instantly.

Lionstar too, pressed his nose gently to the stone, unconsciousness quickly taking over. The tom opened his eyes again to find himself in a grassy field; what he recognized as Starclan territory. With a sigh, he turned around to be greeted by the approaching silhouette of a cat. For a moment he wondered if it would be Snowbreeze, who had been there when he lost his most recent life, and who was also his father. But it wasn't the slick, white, short-haired tom that was Snowbreeze. In fact, this cat was much fluffier and not as tall or well-muscled, but strong nonetheless. It was a ginger tabby she-cat whom he quickly recognized as his mother, Goldenfur. She padded up to Lionstar, a smile on her face.
"So you've finally decided to give your poor deputy a chance at leadership, eh? You have a lot of lives you're giving up, but I suppose that just means you've been strong and kept your clan out of too many battles. I've been watching, you know. I was a little worried that deputy would retire before you did, what with your worrying he wasn't ready." She laughed. "I'm proud of you."
Lionstar chuckled. "You've never stopped worrying about me yourself. Now let's get this over with...I don't want to keep them waiting." He purred, sitting down. His mother padded up and gently rested her muzzle on his forehead. Pain seared through the tom, and he struggled not to howl out in shock and terror. It hurt so much his body was shaking, as he felt the conscious deaths of all of his remaining 7 lives except his last one be torn away. He couldn't even focus on what was killing him. All he could do was let out a horrid screech in his head while trying hard to be silent in his physical body. As it came to a slow, harsh end, he collapsed, trembling, onto the grass. He gasped, panting roughly.
"Calm down Lionheart...It's over now. We have work to do." Goldenfur meowed, softly coaxing him to his paws. Lionstar -- no, Lionheart --followed obediently as they made their way towards another clearing, where Lionheart thought he could see the figure of Mosspelt in the distance. His mother held out there tail though, making sure they were unseen.
"We'll come out when it's time." She informed him, patiently lying down.

Mosspelt awoke, not in the cavern with the Moonstone, but in the clearing of Fourtrees. What the... he began to think before he saw starry forms of cats begin to form before his eyes in a straight line. Most of them near brought tears to his eyes, as they were family which had died. One cat that he actually had to choke down a kit-like mew from seeing was his mother, Nightstrike. He thought he saw a small smile begin to form on her face as if she could read his mind.
