Twisted's, and Shade's Assesment

Raccoonstar sat at the entrance of camp waiting on Falconfang, and their apprentices. Today was their assessment, and they need to do well because they would soon be made warriors if they did well.

Falconfang padded up to the entrance of the camp with his head held high, and he hoped his apprentice would do the same. It had been a rough few sunrises, with the fire and all, but there was always new growth, and the deputy was proud to have his apprentice ready to have her assessment.

Shadepaw followed her mentor looking proud. She was almost a warrior! About time too, she thought.

Twistedpaw grinned as he limped toward his mother; his tail flickering. He knew what they were doing today; and boy was he excited. If he could pull this off; he would be getting his warrior ceremony soon! He stopped before Raccoonstar; standing tall as he awaited orders for the assessment.

"You are too catch three pieces of prey. While you are doing so Falconfang and I will be following you, but you won't see us. Start when ever." Raccoonstar mewed looking at the two apprentices.

Twistedpaw titled his head; nodding. Three pieces of prey? He could do that; hopefully...He spun and darted off; wanting to be the first one back with all three pieces. He finally slowed down after getting a bit farther into the territory; his mouth open for any sign of prey. The soft scent of a rabbit washed over him; causing him to grin. He was going to rock this thing. He dropped into a crouch and pulled himself forward; getting as near as he would dare before judging the jump; made sure his twisted paw wouldn't mess him up on the jump; before he pushed off of the ground and sailed toward the soft grey rabbit that was nibbling on the ground. The rabbit's ear twitched; and it quickly looked up to see Twistedpaw flying toward it and quickly hopped down a hole that it was near. Twistedpaw hit the ground with a mutter; stumbling a bit on the landing before stalking off for more prey. He wasn't going to fail this assessment cause because he missed one piece of prey.

Shadepaw ran off a bit slower than Twistedpaw, but still pretty fast nonetheless. She stopped by a bunch of long grass, sniffing to see if a bit of prey was in it. Surely enough there was. A small mouse cleaning itself. Shadepaw prepared to pounce on it. A small breeze blew, rustling the grass. The mouse got startled and ran off. Oh well, Shadepaw thought, at least it wasn't me scaring it. That wind was blowing the wrong way for that to happen.

Twistedpaw glanced around; his ear flickering. He noticed a small black bird pecking at the ground not far from him; a raven. He grinned as he dropped into a crouched and pulled himself forward. Once again he went though his checklist before jumping. A bit to late. The raven looked up as it took into the air; letting out a cry and flying away; leaving Twistedpaw to tumble to the ground with a hiss. The apprentice sat up with a mutter; shaking his head. Couldn't he at least catch something?

Twistedpaw sat down, his ears flat on his head as his tail flickered. Ugh; he was getting tired of not catching anything. His ears suddenly perked as he saw a rabbit nibbling on something not far from him. It hadn't noticed him? He dropped down into a couch and pulled himself forward; making sure that the rabbit didn't even know that it was in trouble. His tail flickered in the air as he shook his rump, before thrusting himself from the ground with his back paws and leaped though the air. Ha; stupid rabbit. The grey rabbit hadn't even noticed the shadow of death fall over it  until it was suddenly crushed by the weight of Twistedpaw who finished it off with a quick blow to the neck; swift and bloodless. Finally; he had caught one! He picked it up in his jaws and hurried over to a stray bush in the territory and hide it; before heading off to catch more prey.
