Whitepaw's Border Patrol

At around mid-day, Dewclaw entered camp with a few freshly caught pieces of prey. Not very much for a warrior, but because she was mostly a fighter she was pleased with her day's work. Dewclaw looked around camp, hoping to catch Whitepaw for a patrol around the territory.

Whitepaw walked around the aprentices den wondering what to do. Then he saw Dewclaw and ran over to her. "Are we doing some training today?" He asked.

She smiled warmly after putting her prey in the fresh-kill pile. "Yep. Today, you get to learn about the other Clans and their borders." She flicked her tail towards the camp entrance, and started off with a slight limp.

Whitepaw followed Dewclaw to the camp entrance. Clan borders, I can't wait! He thought.

They padded into the forest and were walking a while before they came to the border with SkyClan 'This is the SkyClan border-" she interrupted herself so she could mark it. "-the cats may have stayed with us, but we still have to watch our backs. They use their strong legs to hunt birds and squirrels in trees, and are clever in battle. Surely you remember the smell."

Whitepaw sniffed the air and he recognized the smell."Yes I remember it"


OOC: I don't know very much about Skyclan and I'm also using my phone.

"Good. Kind of hard to forget, huh?" They walked on until they reached the rocks by the river. "The rocks here belong to RiverClan. They used to be ThunderClan's territory, but.... well, let's just say the lack of Clanmembers of late hasn't helped us much. As hunters, their main food is fish from the river. It's well-stocked year-round, so they stay big and fat throughout the many seasons. The saltiness of the fish contributes to their salty smell. It also affects the taste of their blood, making it saltier- assuming you ever get the chance to taste it and find out for sure. Sometimes they hunt small prey like water voles on the shoreline or in between the rocks." Her whiskers twitched in amusement. "It's quite entertaining to watch them try to fir their clumsy paws in between the Sunningrocks. Now, RiverClan and ThunderClan have never quite got along. It's understandable, though, since the constant quarreling for territory. We need it to hunt, but they want it to bask, and show off that they have more territory. Their battle strategies are simple. Usually, they have larger warriors; they focus on using strength as their main attack, using large paws and strong jaws to push you around. They can be easily beaten by speed, but be warned: if they get a good hit on you, you'll be out cold, seeing your size." Dewclaw joked.

"Riverclan sounds strong. I don't want to get in a fight with them" Whitepaw said to himself.

She affectionately flicked his ear with her tail and carried on towards Fourtrees. As they came to the hill looking down on the clearing she said, "This is Fourtrees. The five Clans meet herd every full moon. Under StarClan, they meet in peace and socialize with each other, sharing news of deaths and ceremonies. Across from us is WindClan territory. They are nimble and chase rabbits on the moorland for prey. There's nothing on their lands to protect them from the weather- it's just rolling hills with long grass. Feels very exposing. They fight with speedy slashes and are best defeated with a sharp blow to the head."

I wonder when I will get to go to Fourtrees. And see Windclan. "When is the next time the clans go to Fourtrees?" Whitepaw asked.

OOC: You could probably slip into the gathering now, if you wanted to.

IC: "Next full moon. The last passed a few nights ago. I didn't go so I could give my shoulder extra time to heal." Which is starting to bother me some... I should hurry this up. The she-cat kept this to herself. "Let's keep going." She hurried along, eventually coming out of the forest to a hard black path with a foul smell. "Keep your distance," She warned. "the creatures that travel along this path are called monsters, and they carry twolegs in their bellies. They will mercilessly attack anything that steps paw on the path, and many great warriors have died here. I will personally skin you if I catch you anywhere near that path!" She hissed, purely out of concern. "Do you understand?"

"Yes, I understand." Whitepaw said as he backed a little away from the path. "Can we go somewhere else? This path smells foul." He asked.

"Good. I'll tell you about ShadowClan on the way." She led him away, back into the forest. "The Clan that shares the Thunderpath as a border are secretive cats. They come out in the dark and sleep in the day, which makes them very dangerous if you are being attacked by night. They eat marsh creatures- slimy toads and frogs and scaly things such as snakes and lizards." She jumped over a fallen log blocking the path in a single fluid motion and carried on. "The elders once told me they were good hearted cats with actual souls, but the cold northern winds swept in and hardened their hearts." It was obviously a tall tale, and she knew this, but there was nothing that felt better than belittling a rival Clan. "They use sneak attacks and tricks to fight. Generally, they are around the same size and speed as us, and so the best way to counter them is using well-planned tactics."

"Shadowclan sounds strange." Whitepaw said as he followed his mentor. I wonder if I will ever have to fight them he added silently.

"Even so, it's their way of life and we should respect that." She pushed her way through the gorse tunnel, as they were now home and the sun was setting behind the trees. "Now go grab some prey and rest up; I expect you to be up the second I call your name tomorrow for dawn patrol!"
