Icepaw's Border Patrol

Flamestar sat by the camp entrance, waiting for his apprentice to arrive. Today they were going on a border patrol. Icepaw would see the territory and learn to properly patrol.

Icepaw came bounding up.

"Today we're going to explore the territory and mark the borders. You're ready, I hope?" He mewed.

Icepaw looked, down and sighed. "Um, sure." hmph, I'm sad for no reason.... He clawed at the ground

Flamestar blinked skeptically but ignored his random depression.

He led the way out of camp, ducking under low trees and bushes, crossing grassy paths. The undergrowth was getting very thick by now, so it was obvious they were getting closer to the Thunderclan border.

Icepaw sniffed. "UGH!? What's the reeking smell?!" He snuffed up his nose.

"Thunderclan." Flamestar answered. "Stay away from them. They can be a bit touchy."

As they padded trough the territory, the trees began to him out and the ground grew muddy. "Stay alert. We're approaching Shadowclan." He warned.

Icepaw looked around, as he saw a bird fly by. "Okay."

The smell of mud and slimy things began to waft into Flamestar's nose. "Shadowclan are even more touchy. They'll claw your ears off the moment you step over the border!" He chuckled. "Some say it's because the cold air and dark surroundings of heir territory cools their hearts."

Icepaw pressed close to flamestar. "Why don't we leave, I'm afraid ."

Flamestar just chuckled. "There's nothing to be afraid of as long as we stay on the right side of the border." He meowed. "But alright. Let's move on."

After marking the borders, Flamestar led his apprentice towards sparse grassland. "Up ahead is the edge of the territory, and our last stop. Have you learnedly much so far?" He asked as they drew closer to the edge of unknown land.

Icepaw nodded. "Lots!"

With a smile, he led his apprentice to the edge and stopped. "The territory beyond the lake is dangerous and unknown. Unless you knew what you were doing, anyone could easily die out there." He murmured.

Flamestar led the way into camp after the long border patrol. He was glad his apprentice has learned well, though he felt they could have done more. He turned to Icepaw and nodded in approval. "You did well." He purred in satisfaction.
