Kits From a Demon

Nightpaw ran to the wailing"Scarletfire whats wron....can i help I've seen one of the queens lick the kits after their born?"

Upon hearing the cries from the queen and the squeaks from the kits, Shadowstar rushed out of her den trying to blink the sleep out of her eyes. She quickly squeezed her way into the nursery until she saw Scarletfire and her two already-born kits. Trying to help, she pulled one of the kits closer to her and licked it furiously to keep it warm in the freezing weather. She only looked up for a second. "Nightpaw, grab the other kit."

Nightpaw quickly pulled one kit closer and started licking it.

"Come on Scarletfire, You can do this." Dawnpaw mewed.

The last ones finally appeared, and the queen licked them as well. "Thanks," she said between long, heavy breaths. She let the newborns nurse before setting her head down. "I wonder... where Goldenflame is?" Her eyes drooped with exhaustion.

Dawnpaw smiled at her mother. "You did well."

Scarletfire nodded. "Come here and look at your new siblings," she said, purring loudly. She was happy for the moment, but a ball of ice still lay where her heart should be.

BIC: Goldflame rushed into the nursery, just back from a border patrol. "Scarletfire are you o...kay?" Goldflame paused mid sentance, seeing four newborn kits. "I can't believe it. They're... so cute." Goldflame rushed over to his mate, licking her proudly. He began to lick a small, tortise-shell she-cat that was squealing and reaching forwards. "I think they're hungry," he said, carrying over two kits at a time. He entwined his tail with Scarletfire's and licked her ear happily.

Scarletfire allowed their new kits to nurse, and she didn't respond. She couldn't even muster up a few couple words to say to Goldflame. After a few minutes, her breathing slowly faded to normal. "Gold.... flame. What should we name them?"

"Well, this one-" Goldflame nosed a gray kit with a white patch on its left eye, underbelly and chest, ears, underside of tail and muzzle with violet eyes. "Violetkit. And maybe this one Harekit?" Pointing his nose to a hare-like kit, white tail underneath, lighter underbelly, green eyes, white ears with black tips and a main pelt color of a dark brown-beige colour, basically like a hare.

"Then these two males are Happykit and Inkkit," she said, nosing two gray kits. One was squirming around energenically; happily. The other was still, sleeping soundly.

The grey and white kit was squirming, pawing her mother's belly as she tried to drink some milk, her tail making rapit motions. She had not get opened her eyes, but Goldflame thought they were very similar to his mate's. She was definatly the smallest kit in the litter, but seemed to be very energetic. She let out a tiny, slightly fierce, mew and then began to stay still and drink. "That one reminds me slightly of you, Scarletfire," Goldflame smiled at his mate fondly and gently licked Violetkit's ear gently.

Scarletfire nodded. She noticed a small tom the same size as Violetkit. "Happykit seems to be a bit small as well," she pointed out, licking the kit. After a few more minutes that had passed by, the kits were fast asleep. Curling a fluffy tail around them, she stared at them long and hard as if she were plotting something. "I hope they grow to be loyal warriors."

Goldflame nodded, but looked questioningly at Scarletfire.
