Dragonpaw- Learning to Hunt

The day after their border patrol, Heathersong allowed Dragonpaw to wake up of her own accord. She was a quick learner, and therefore wouldn't need much training. However, it was getting dangerously close to sunhigh, and the apprentice still wasn't up. Her mentor strode to the entrance of teh apprentice's den, planning on waking Dragonpaw up.

Dragonpaw woke up from her sleep and found Heathersong at the entrance of the apprentice den.

"Alright, are you excited to learn how to hunt?" Heathersong asked cheerfully.

"Yep!" the young apprentice purred.

Heathersong took her apprentice out onto the territory again.
"So, what prey can you name?" she asked, testing Dragonpaw.

"A mouse?" Dragonpaw asked.

Heathersong nodded, stopping their walk momentarily.
"Yes, we have mice," she agreed, but that wasn't quite the answer she was looking for. "What prey do we have that no other clan is really known for?"

"Rabbits?" Dragonpaw meowed.

"Good!" Heathersong purred. "Now, scent the air. What do you smell?" They were in the middle of the moor, and a small movement had caught the warrior's eye a short distance from where they were standing.

Dragonpaw smelled and caught the scent of rabbit. "I smell a rabbit," Dragonpaw meowed to her mentor.

"Yes, it's right there," she indicated with her tail. "Now, would you like me to demonstrate, or would you rather try it yourself first?"

"I would like you to demonstrate," Dragonpaw mewed.

Heathersong gave her apprentice a smile, then slunk off into the grass. She left Dragonpaw on a small hill, giving her a good view of her mentor. Heathersong demonstrated; she crept up on the rabbit, staying low to the ground, downwind of her prey. Too late, the prey's ears perked up, right as she pounced on it, delivering a quick bite to its neck. She then carried it back.
"Think you can do that?" she asked.


OoC: I didn't use the dice here, purely to show the technique of hunting, but it's good to know how to use the dice. Do you have an idea of how to?

Ic: "I think I can," Dragonpaw purred.

"Alright, go ahead and show me," Heathersong mewed, smiling at Dragonpaw's excitement.
