With patrols heightened after the group of foxes attacked camp, the sole survivor had been found very quickly. Wolfblossom had been quick to organize a patrol, and it had surprised her how quickly her clanmates volunteered to join. It filled her with pride to see how quickly Skyclan rallied to defend itself, and while she wished she could keep the apprentices home, she would not deny them their right. A patrol of 6, split evenly between apprentices and warriors, should have little trouble... She hoped.

The fox had fled from the camp of the cats it had attacked, hiding among the large, jagged stones. None of his family had returned, and alone and injured, he was scared. Never had the russet-furred creature thought cats of all things could be so vicious... But as he watched his family fall one by one, self-preservation had won out over his relatives' desire for retribution.
The scent of the cats was generally faded here, an area they didn't seem to frequent. Until the scent suddenly grew stronger, and the fox shivered, tail between his legs. They couldn't just leave him alone, could they? Well, the fox thought, resigned, he would try to take one of the smaller creatures down with him. If this was how he was to go... One of those cats would go to the afterlife with him. He owed his slain family that much.
A low growl escaped the fox as he stepped from between two rocks, hackles raised. Though he tried to appear menacing... The fear beneath still shone through.
You will have 48 hours when it is your turn to post before being considered knocked out. Bearpaw, Ploverpaw, Sorrelpaw, Stormwatcher, Juniperheart and Violetsky make up the patrol sent to finish the last fox. I will be controlling the fox. Good luck, Skyclan.

When Wolf was looking for volunteers for this fight, Stormwatcher signed up right away!
In the past, Storm would not have been one to pursue a fight or even want to fight at all.
But, now he had more to fight for, he had been making friends in his clan more now and seeing the foxes attack the apprentices had made him want to finish what he had started earlier. He and his former apprentice had fought this fox and had it beat before it took the easy way out and ran away. He would have chased it then but the rest of the foxes had to be dealt with first. Now would be jsut fine as well.
When he saw the fox he hissed and looked right at it. He wanted it to remember it was him who sent it running with its tail between its legs. It was him that had it down and was beating it with heavy paws and almost ended it the first time. "remember me? he taunted flicking his tail towards himself daring the fox to come on over and fight.
"You come to my home? Try hurt my apprentices? Then have the nerve to run away?
Stormwatcher narrowed his eyes "Yeah you probably dont understand any of these words but heres something a bit more universal. He flexed his long claws out showing the fox. He wanted fox to see the things that would be the cause of its downfall. Wanted it to see what attacking skyclan would lead to.
Leaping at the fox charging directly at it he hit out at it as hard as he could. Stormwatcher was not very technical in his fighting: he didnt use what he called "fancy" pins or take things to the ground much. He just went for big smacks and punches until his opponent got so hurt that they fell to the ground naturally.
So in his true fighting style he smacked the fox with front paw strike. He dug his claws into the foxes face wanting to make sure this fox never hurt any of his apprentices again.

Had that been…It? All that fear, blood and noise was over almost within a blink, though the damage would last. The foxes were dead, their putrid smell lingering in camp.
But what about the one that ran away?
Sorrelpaw didn’t hesitate to volunteer to join the patrol. The same way she had scrabbled to her paws during the invasion, though this time she felt…Nothing.
When do I wake up?
It all felt too real to be a dream but she couldn’t ignore the emptiness in her stomach. Ever since that fox had desperately clawed at the apprentice den entrance and she had seen the horrified expressions on her littermates, a numbness had washed over her.
She both welcomed and hated the feeling. It had prevented her from growing too panicked, from being too distracted to fight. It had also yet to leave, filling her with an emotion she had thus far been a stranger to.
It was no surprise Bearpaw volunteered - she was, for a moment, surprised at Ploverpaw’s readiness though the memory of her sister at the fox’s other leg flooded her mind. It filled her with pride to fight beside her siblings and admittedly, the first draw of blood had been exciting. It was their mother she was most concerned for; recently out of the medicine den and to Sorrelpaw, still fragile.
The never ending thoughts swarmed her mind as they pursued the sole survivor, their patrol slowing down as they tracked its scent towards large rocks. There it loomed; an ugly creature, hackles raised as it crept out from the protection of the rocks. It had fought for its pack, as she had fought for her clanmates; though it was difficult to feel sympathy for a creature so eager to slay her loved ones. If they didn’t deal with it, it could come back with more — and so the battle restarted as Stormwatcher threw himself towards the fox, spitting out taunts. Sorrelpaw took a moment to stare at the beast, her body cold as it stood there. Her claws unsheathed and she lurched forward, slashing at the beast.
Maybe in defeating the last fox, she would know peace. That the numbness would leave, find a new host.

The moment he heard the news of one lucky fox's escape, Bearpaw had been chomping at the bit to go after it. It was only Wolfblossom's orders that kept the brown and white tom from racing after the fox's scent and now, with his clanmates surrounding him, he somewhat regretted not going after the fox on his own. It was unlikely he would earn any recognition for his part in fighting the fox - much less get the satisfaction of dealing the final blow.
Bearpaw, as it turned out, was oddly fascinated with the power that came from feeling the life drain from his prey. He was convinced that taking down a larger, more dangerous creature would feel several times as good. So, of course, it was natural for the tom to volunteer for the patrol. It was his job to take care of Skyclan and his family. He was their self-proclaimed protector after all.
As such, Bearpaw was surprised to see two of his sisters ask to tag along as well. In his mind, they were still delicate flowers in need of safeguarding. They lacked the same resolve he had - the same...ferocity. Regardless, if anything happened to either Sorrelpaw or Ploverpaw, much his mother, he would personally hunt down every fox in the forest and eradicate them. Juniperheart was, in Bearpaw's mind, still recovering - it seemed far too soon for her to be joining battle patrols but, then again, he was no medicine cat. Thank Starclan for that.
Suddenly, in a blur of motion, the red-pelted fox was before them and before the young tom could act, Stormwatcher lashed out with unsheathed claws, drawing blood and sending tufts of fur into the breeze. Sorrelpaw wasn't far behind the warrior, much to Bearpaw's shock, and after waiting a moment for the right opening, Bearpaw leapt between the two cats, throwing himself into the fox's side with teeth bared.
Despite still being smaller than the warriors and even some of the other apprentices, Bearpaw fixed his fangs into the fox's pelt, his teeth sliding easily through muscle and sending a satisfied shiver down his spine. Blood began to pool in the young apprentice's mouth, and he kept his jaws clamped down a little longer than necessary before finally tearing himself away.

So this was what warriors felt like. The cats around her strode swiftly, full of purpose or anger. Or both. Something dark radiated off of her brother, something Ploverpaw did not like to feel, but knew she should. Sorrelpaw was still in a daze, somewhat like her own. Her sister was more than brave, but Ploverpaw dearly wished it wasn’t at such a cost. Still, Sorrelpaw’s muffled, foggy emotions helped her remain just as removed from her own fear. She stayed near both siblings, drawing on their mindsets to prepare for battle. It was harder to understand exactly what her mother was thinking. A certain protective instinct set close to both of their hearts, leading them both to join this patrol. Ploverpaw was here because of how these vile foxes had made her sisters panic. She remembered how awfully scared Bubblepaw and Thymepaw had been. So petrified. So distressed. She couldn’t stand it. This fox had to go.
The patrol came up to a large boulder that was cleaved in two. Something powerful must have split it, like a storm. The rumbling of thunder soothed her mind and its loud crack focused her. Her body tensed in anticipation of the inevitable fight. Ever since the camp’s invasion the smell of rotting foxes had never quite left her nose at any given time. She’d become so used to it that it was hard to discern new from old.
Ploverpaw gasped as the young fox emerged from the cracked boulder snarling and yapping crazily. She was stunned. Her sky eyes locked on it. Claw marks raked across its back, surely from one of her clanmates. Blood was barely discernable from its dark ginger fur. She thought the fox looked like maybe it actually had a fully snow-white coat, simply stained red. Its growl reverberated through her ribcage, making her legs tremble as she backed away. Her senses begged her to flee. She didn’t want to go through this again. She couldn’t! Fear reflected in both of their eyes, but it was clear one pair was desperate. It would kill to survive. Ploverpaw was on the cusp of hyperventilation- or crying. She needed it to stop. Her mind howled, Get it to STOP! But how? Fight! You’re supposed to fight!
The apprentice watched her sister strike. In turn, Ploverpaw kicked her feet off the floor, right behind Sorrelpaw. Recalling what little training she had she positioned herself at the beast’s side in order to avoid its frantic snapping jaws. She clung low to the ground, her heart and mind racing at the possibility of getting hit by those killer paws. The apprentice sprung up toward the fox’s neck. But she was too hesitant. Too fearful. She pulled back at the last second, her claws slashing only its shoulder.
[Ploverpaw used Front Paw Strike on the Fox, dealing 6 damage and costing 7 stamina.]

Violetsky and Juniperheart have timed out.
The cats rushed forward with more speed and ferocity than the fox was expecting, and he yelped and snarled as fangs and claws tore through his russet pelt. Three small, young cats were led by one he recognized... And the fox would get rid of the annoyances before dealing with the older, more experienced tom. Whirling, his jaws snapped viciously at the first of the smaller cats that had attacked him.
Fox used Iron Bite on Sorrelpaw for -30 sp, dealing -17 damage.

One moment she had been clawing at the beast, the next it felt as though her body had been set alight. The pain that tore through her felt real enough. Nothing in her world could have prepared her for the sensation of the fox’s jaws around her body and her flesh being pierced; she was, for the first time in her life, the prey. It was unlike any sensation she had ever known, vulnerable in the beasts jaws. Sorrelpaw writhed until the beast released her, letting out a confused and pained cry. The apprentice avoided her sibling’s eyes, shutting her own tightly; hopefully the others would be able to strike whilst it was distracted. She clawed desperately, unbalanced on her paws as it eventually relented.
As she stumbled backwards, she wasn’t quite sure what hurt, the metallic tang of her own blood burning into her nostrils. She didn’t feel good.
Fear, an unwelcome friend, gripped her. A feeling that had abandoned her and returned at the most inopportune time, drawing shaky breaths from her chest. It swelled in her stomach, like an inescapable sickness. She wouldn’t, couldn’t, let them see that. With Violetsky and Juniperheart unable to fight, nerves swelled in her chest. It wasn’t herself she was nervous for - but her siblings. The last thing they needed were less claws. She was still conscious, still aware, even if her frame ached as she lurched forward. Sorrelpaw blinked stinging tears away from her eyes, inhaling a deep breath. She was a warrior in training, no longer a kit - there was time to be emotional later.
Stupid beast!
No hints of pity for the creature remained, desiring nothing more than to see the fox quiet and crumpled. The grey apprentice sank her fangs into a hind leg of the beast, letting out a low hiss at the putrid taste in her mouth. After a moment she relented and stumbled backwards, moving away from where she had stood moments before, unsheathed claws grazing the ground.

Bearpaw watched with surprise as Ploverpaw darted forward, her claws aiming for the beast's neck. He hadn't expected such violence from his usually tame sister, and, as it would seem, was right to have his expectations set as such. At the last moment, she faltered, perhaps hesitating, and drove her claws into the fox's shoulder instead. A flash of disappointment ran through Bearpaw, but he couldnt be upset with Ploverpaw. She was more delicate than him and some of the other apprentices. Not weak per say, she just had a softer heart and there was nothing wrong with that as long as she didn't hold Skyclan back.
Blue eyes calculating, Bearpaw ripped his attention away from his more docile sister, searching for an opening amongst the flurry of claws and gnashing teeth. Though, something was wrong. Where were Violetsky and Juniperheart? And what happened to Stormbreak? The eager warrior had seemed so ready to fight, but why wasn't he!? Bearpaw lurched forward, gaze widening with horror as the fox's disgusting fangs closed around Sorrelpaw. Where were the warriors!?
Fear, anger, and a little bit of loathing filled Bearpaw as he watched the blood well up and stream down his sister's gray coat, turning her fur dark. The wretched beast! Bearpaw's icy glare landed on the fox, a growl rising in his throat. It would pay for that. Regardless of the pain she must be in, Sorrelpaw reacted with the bravery of Lionclan! Bearpaw looked on with shock, suddenly proud of Sorrelpaw for defending herself despite the gruesome wound the fox had inflicted.
Once she reared back, Bearpaw saw his opprotunity to strike! Sorrelpaw had done well, but he didnt want to see her injured any further. He didnt want to see any of his clanmates injured, he was supposed to protect them! Snarling, Bearpaw barreled forward, his body low to the ground as he slid under the snarling, red-furred monster. Undeterred by the fox's strength and frantic movements, the tom raised a foreleg toward the fox's soft underbelly, determined to bring it the same amount of pain it inflicted on Sorrelpaw.
The path was clear and easy in Bearpaw's mind. Sorrelpaw had gotten out if the way just in time and the fox moved just as he had predicted. So, with surprising ease, the young tom's claws sliced through the fox's unprotected belly, causing hot blood to trickle onto his pelt. With a satisfied smirk at the fox's yelping, Bearpaw ducked out of the way, his claws, teeth, and pelt wet with bright red blood. It's time on this earth was limited - its fate sealed the moment it sank its teeth into his sister.

Ploverpaw choked on her own breath as blood freckled her fur. She watched as filthy teeth punctured Sorrelpaw's healthy grey coat. Nothing came out as she tried to scream. Her veins flooded with shock, her stomach with terror, and her head with worry. Everything was moving too fast. She couldn’t get out the words she wanted to cry. Is she okay!? Blood poured from Sorrelpaw’s wounds. Her throat was clogged with tears. This is too dangerous!! Why are we fighting alone?? Confusion and fear rattled her head.
She yelped as Sorrelpaw dove back in, grasping its back leg. She couldn't let her be bitten again! The fox was still violent, whipping around trying to deal with her siblings. “Are you okay?! Get out of here!” she finally cried to her sister. Ploverpaw was shaking, huddled against the ground as she lashed out her claws uselessly. The molly could already feel Bearpaw’s disappointment behind her ears. She was supposed to be like them, ready to draw blood and risk their lives no matter their fear. Why wasn’t she the same way? Ploverpaw simply stopped breathing as her brother fearlessly slid under the fox’s torso. In the split seconds it took to slash its stomach she felt hatred, awe, and relief all at once. Bear please! she begged him silently, Don’t get hit!
For a moment she was stunned frozen, terrified for her siblings' lives. Her paws were glued to the ground. Complete fear struck her expression. But she absolutely had to help. She wouldn't just stand there and watch either apprentice lose their skin. She had to keep the attention off of them. The fox’s bristling tail flicked in front of her. Without thought she hooked her claws in its hot orange, white-tipped fluff and pulled. She desperately hoped at least Sorrelpaw would flee and treat her wounds. She knew Bearpaw would never stop until it was dead. “Kill it Bear!” she yelled through tears. Ploverpaw wanted to be anywhere else right now.
[Ploverpaw used Tail Yank on the Fox, dealing 7 damage and costing 15 stamina. The Fox is stunned for 1 turn.]

The fox snarled beneath the blows of the cats, teeth bared. The larger cats seemed to be of no consequence, but the smaller ones were tenacious. He would show them the error of their ways, though. Whipping his head around, the fox's jaws snapped toward the second of the trio, only to come up short, biting into empty air as something sharp sank into his tail and pulled him backward. Suddenly, rather than fighting the infuriating cats, the fox was fighting to maintain his balance... Leaving an opening for the cats that otherwise might not have been there.

Bearpaw never failed to prove his worth as a warrior and Ploverpaw’s bravery shone through stronger than her fear. She watched them attack the fox in turns, cheering as Bearpaw successfully tore into its stomach. It was impressive, the spray of blood staining his fur a display of his confident attack. It surely wouldn’t be long until the fox would succumb.
Sorrelpaw’s paws itched with a desperate need to throw herself at the beast, to punish it for the anguish it caused her sister - though it appeared their brother had done so. Ploverpaw’s cries filled her ears, ignorant to her calls. She wouldn’t leave. She couldn’t leave. The apprentice was almost drawn to tears seeing her shake so, wishing it would be over soon. It was hard to watch, though she overflowed with pride as both her siblings attacked the beast in turns; and it appeared the wish would be granted as the fox grew uneasy on its paws. As much as her own paws itched the ferocity in her brother’s eyes kept her back, watching him intently, admiration in her own eyes. Ploverpaw’s cry for him to slay the beast rang in her ears; she had no doubt he would answer the call.

Bearpaw glanced over at Ploverpaw, his gaze briefly softening before he returned his focus to the battle. While not the most fiercesome cat, she had spirit, he would give her that. She was clearly afraid, but despite that fear, she was pushing through - for them. For that, she might be the bravest of them all. As she got behind the fox, he attempted a reassuring smile followed by a nod of approval. The fox turned suddenly, its blood-stained teeth gnashing towards him, but before it could pounce, Ploverpaw yanked it back with a powerful tug - its tail clamped between her jaws. Everything was moving so fast and Bearpaw just couldn't get enough of it!
A bolt of adrenaline coursed through the tom's veins and he called out, a little shocked but proud regardless. "Very nice Plover! It almost got me there!" He chuckled awkwardly and tried to ignore the dark thrum of fear he felt. For a moment there, he was actually a little scared. Nonetheless, there was no time to let fear dissuade him! If left alive, this fox would only bring more harm to Skyclan - to his family. He wouldn't let that happen. Not in a million moons.
Movement caught Bearpaw's attention and he spotted Sorrelpaw, still bleeding, staggering out of the way. Good, she would be safer if she was out of the way. He had no doubt that she was likely worried - no - terrified for their safety, but this was for the best. He swung his head back around, eyes narrowed and fixed onto the fox's own dark gaze. The fear, the way it struggled relentlessly for its survival...it knew that if it didn't escape that it would meet its demise. However, Ploverpaw's grip remained firm and the blood it had lost made it uneasy on its paws.
Breathing labored, Bearpaw slunk around the fox as it tossed its head to and fro. The moment it flung its head up, he shot forward, driving up from beneath the red beast and as though guided by the paws of Starclan, and sank his teeth deep into the fox's throat. Blood bubbled up, hot and tangy, from the deep, fatal injury and the white fur of Bearpaw's chest was stained red. The fox continued to struggle, but his grip was firm, and his teeth were burrowed deep into the predator's flesh.
It felt like ages, but in reality, it only took a few moments for the fox to jerk in his jaws, its body going limp. Grunting, Bearpaw tore his teeth from its throat and let the body drop the ground with a heavy thud. He hung his head, blood dripping from his jaws and staggered slightly, exhausted from the effort of the battle. He had just killed a fox - a creature that once had a family. And, oddly enough, he didn't feel a little bit sorry. It had deserved it. It had deserved every last moment of agony and suffering leading up to its death. After all, its own family hadn't shown mercy.

The fox could feel his strength waning, could feel each injury burning and shocking him with agony as the blood pounded in his ears. This was his end, he knew, he would soon join the rest of his family that these cats had stolen from him.
Fangs caught him by the throat and the fox let out a choking snarl, legs crumpling beneath him as he fought for air and lost, blood instead taking the place where the air should have been. His vision faded, going dark, and the fox hit the ground with a thud, body twitching desperately in the last throes of life. He'd wanted to avenge them, and had failed. There would be nobody to avenge him, he knew, not after that slaughter. The fox breathed his last breath, body finally falling still.

The fox snapped back mid-jump, almost taking Ploverpaw with it. Instead, her jaw locked tighter, afraid to let go. Warm blood poured from her mouth, seeping through her teeth. The monster’s blood-colored tail became matted. Each second became ten. It was hard to hear above the fox’s panicked screaming and thrashing, but she did unfortunately catch her brother’s words. “Very nice Plover! It almost got me there!” She nearly froze from the realization. Bearpaw could have just died. Tears flooded her throat. What an awful thing for him to say so casually. Hurry! she wanted to snap at him, if not for the deadly predator in her mouth. She just wanted this to be over!
Without permission, the molly’s head began to spin. The taste of blood was hot on her tongue, just like the rest of her burning body. Every bone felt wretched, and she could swear the fox was turning to yank her off its tail. Fear gripped Ploverpaw, making her let go. She didn’t see but could tell Bearpaw finally sprung for the monster’s throat from its gargled cry. She couldn’t remember it falling, but she knew how disgusting it smelled. The apprentice coiled back in disgust, staring at the corpse with red all over her face, chest, and paws. It looked just like all the other foxes in her dreams, twitching with a gash in its throat pooling sticky blood. There was always so much blood.
A clanmate’s voice disturbed her. She finally felt herself breathe, but her mind was still buzzing with distress. “Sorrel!” Ploverpaw ran straight to her sister, hugging her bloody neck against hers. “Are you okay? Does it hurt?” Her voice was wobbly, caught on heavy emotions and adrenaline. She must be in so much pain. Was she scared? Ploverpaw couldn’t decide whether to be angry or proud of the apprentice. Was she brave or foolish? The molly glanced toward their beaming brother, followed by a pit in her stomach. She felt so out of place amongst her battle-crazed siblings. But at least they’re okay, she said, shaking away those thoughts for the moment. “I’m so glad you two are safe. You both fought very well.” She was a bit relieved, knowing she’d been able to put aside her worry and help them. But her thoughts lingered on those awful wounds. “Sorrel, are you ready to go home? Would you like someone to carry you?” she asked quietly, offering to help her sister walk.
