Deathpaw's Herb Training

Ebonyroot bounded into the clearing, pausing and turning to see if Deathpaw was there.

Deathpaw padded silently after her mentor, taking in the sight of the huge oaks towering far above her.

"Alright, Deathpaw." Ebonyroot meowed, pausing and turning to look at the small red and white she-cat. "Limestone comes back to camp with bleeding scratches. What do you do?"

Deathpaw looked at her mentor. "We'd need cobwebs to stop the bleeding, right? But we'd need to check and see if it was infected first..." she trailed off, trying to remember what to use for infected wounds. "Horsetail, right?"

OOC: we'd use horsetail, yes?

Ebonyroot nodded her head in approval. "Right." she answered, "Horsetail is used for a wound that is already infected, and a wound will only be infected if left untreated for a sun or two."
She glanced back in their land's direction, "Marigold is what you should use before hand, it's bountiful in our land as well as RiverClan's, because it always grows close to water. " The she-cat sighed, explaining slowly, so she could keep up.
The medicine cat looked back at Deathpaw. "Tansy would also work, it grows near twolegplace; I'll show you some later. Do you understand?"

ooc:: ... What she said. cx Though, I do kinda get why you chose to replace marigold with horsetail. :P *shot*

IC: Deathpaw nodded, storing the information in her brainz.

"Great." She smiled, "To prevent infections from happening, they need to be washed thoroughly and made sure the herbs don't go bad. Cobwebs need to be changed if they're too dirty, and herbs replaced if they start to smell sour. It's very important." Ebonyroot paused, too wait and see if she had any questions.

Deathpaw nodded slowly. "Would horsetail or marigold work on infected rat bites? Or bee stings and such?" she asked.

"It might." Ebonyroot blinked, "In the case of a sting, the juice from a dandelion stem should be enough too sooth it, you wouldn't need those. Marigold and Horsetail, however, usually aren't strong enough to fight an infection from a rat bite."
She glanced around the clearing, seeing a small patch of the ideal herb on the edge of ThunderClan land. "Come here." she meowed, walking over to the plants. Sticking out of the ground in a spiral were pale, softly rigid leaves, large enough to span about a tail-length out. "Do you know what this is?"

Deathpaw breathed in, and a sharp smell hit her nose. "Burdock root?"

"Good, did you guess?" Ebonyroot praised and teased her lightly. "The leaves are useless, but make it easy to spot. It's very hard though, you need to chew it up well before you apply it too the wound."
It didn't taste all that great either, but wasn't that the same for most remedies? "Have you ever smelled a garlic patch?"

IC: Deathpaw grinned when her mentor praised her, and nodded when told to chew it up well. When asked about the garalic though, she shook her head.

"It's a vast spacing plant with cluttered, small, white flowers." Ebonyroot described the plant, "It's very sharp and odd smelling, once you see it, you'll remember it." She smirked, "Before cobwebs are put over the rat bites, it's best for a cat to go and roll around in the plant, it'll fight off the risk of any infection."

"Is it easy to find in our territory? That'd be a useful herb, with the carrionplace so close by."
