le Herb Training

While the she-cat was still sleeping, most likely just waking up, Mintberry appeared in the den; looking around. She actually hadn't set foot in this place in a long time. Well, here's to firsts. "Morningpaw." She meowed, prodding the she-cat with her paw, though it couldn't move her; the apprentice would have felt the small shove.

Morningpaw blinked awake. "Mintberry!" she said excitedly when she saw the medicine cat. She instantly sat up, wide awake.

"Good morning, Morningpaw." Mintberry purred, "Are you ready to begin your training?"

"Yes!" Morningpaw said excitedly. "I've been ready for a long time!"

The she-cat smiled and nodded her head, getting up on her feet in a dainty manner. "That's good." She meowed, "We have a long day ahead of us. You'll want to stock up on as many herbs as possible before leaf-bare starts." The she-cat headed twords the entrance, before pausing and flicking her green gaze back at her apprentice. "Oh, and remember that you're the only one who can see and hear me." She felt it was necessary to add. We didn't want Morningpaw to look like she was randomly talking to a ghost~.

Morningpaw nodded. "So what kind of herbs do we need?" she asked.

Okaay, Sorry. D: I've been so busy these past few days.

"Leaf-bare always brings bad cases of the cold, which could always lead to whitecough... and even worse, greencough." The she-cat explaining, looking solemn for a few moments. "It's always important that you watch out for the signs of the sickness. Froststar just lost a life to greencough, as a matter of fact. The best cure for it is catmint."

Morningpaw nodded. "Catmint for greencough," she murmured. "And what about whitecough? Do I treat them with catmint, too?"

Mintberry nodded, "You have to watch how much you give the cat though. If you give them too much catmint, it'll knock them off their tail - and you'll be out faster than you wish." she explained, "Until it turns to whitecough, you can use things like feverfew to fight it off."

Morningpaw nodded. "What can I find catmint?"

"This way." Mintberry padded out of camp and meowed, taking a direct turn away from camp and quickly bounding away. "They grow some in the two-leg place by the top of the river." She meowed.

Morningpaw followed, running happily alongside her mentor.

Mintberry was leading her apprentice up the way before stopping suddenly. "Oh, wait." The she-cat paused and prodded her nose against a soft, bright green plant. It has large stems and leaves, but very tiny white flowers. "You might want to gather some of this. This is chickweed. It normally grows at Sunningrocks. If ever you don't have catmint to treat greencough, this is the next best thing."

Morningpaw nodded. "Can we get it on our way back?" she asked.

"Once we pick the catmint, I prefer we'd get straight home as soon as possible." She meowed.
