Herb Training

The sun beat down on Lichenpaw's fluffy back. He curled his toes and lifted his pink nose towards the light, warmth flooding his entire body. His tail twitched in content and he lowered his head and opened his bright green eyes to the wild and crazy river. The water swirled over the rocks and the reeds in it's path. Lichenpaw was stretched out in a patch of soft grass waiting for his mentor to join him for training. He loved being a medicine cat so far. However, all of the rushing around rumpled his pelt, and this was his first chance to actually clean it. He felt much better now.

Morningfur pushed through the tall grass around the river. She broke out of the reeds, stepping on the pebbles. Glancing around, she spotted Lichenpaw lounging by the river. She trotted towards him, at ease next to the rushing water, not bothered when it sprayed her. She stopped next to him, looking down at him with her bright green eyes.

"Hello, Lichenpaw," she meowed. "Ready?"

Lichenpaw nodded before stretching. "Yup, ready. I can't wait; herbs are so exciting!" Lichenpaw paused to stroke his paw over his head once more. "Will we have to get dirty though?"

"I don't think so, but I'm not promising anything," she said, her eyes sparkling with amusement. She stepped over Lickenpaw and padded down the bank, glancing back to make sure he was following.

Lichenpaw jumped up, and trotted after Morningfur with a content look on his face. "What are we going to learn first?" he asked once he had caught up with his mentor.
