Prologue
A black cat emerged from a throng of bushes, and approached a large group of starry warriors. A spiky brown tom stood up. "Your late," he growled. A slivery gray she-cat, whom was sitting at the head of the group, hushed the angry cat with a flick of her tail. "Hush, Thorntooth." She gave a nod, indicating the black cat joined the group. The newcomer dipped his head, and sat down.
The silver she-cat cleared her voice, and began to speak. All fell silent. "You are all aware of this... coming disturbance in the land below?"
Nods were seen from all cats.
"Well, I've made my choice. We will send a prophecy." Thorntooth shot up, and lashed his tail. "Have you gone
mad, Starshine? Those Clans below need no more trouble then they've already got!" Murmurs of agreement erupted from the crowd.
"Silence!" Starshine hissed, and the murmuring ceased. "I have found no other options aside from this, and this it shall be! Thorntooth, do you have any
better ideas?"
Thorntooth sat down, grumbling.
"I didn't think so." Starshine sighed, and closed her eyes. "We all know how special this cat will be, and we know what things the future holds. We also know that without this prophecy, nothing will make sense to those who realize this cat is different than the others. Is that clear?" she inquired. The group just exchanged nervous glances with one another. Starshine shook her head, and looked at her paws.
This is going great, she muttered under he breath.
The black tom from before stood up, looking embarrassed to be speaking in front of so many. "When will you send this, and to whom?"
Starshine looked up, her bright gaze thoughtful. She remained silent for a moment. At last, she spoke.
"I will send it today."
A cat gasped.
"The sooner, the better." Starshine paused, to allow this to register. "You will see." She rose to her paws, and dismissed the group of cats. As she walked, thoughts spun through her head like a whirl of leaves in Greenleaf.
