Sablestrike lingered in his spot overlooking the rest of the clan. With a few words he would set one of his kits on the path to becoming a warrior. He should have been excited to send his own daughter off to train, and yet the thought of doing so left him feeling anxious. If he could, Sablestrike would have trained *all* of his kits to ensure their bright futures, but that just couldn't be done. Not now, anyway. Whatever warrior he chose to unleash feisty daughter upon would have to do.

"All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, please gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!"

Her pelt had been groomed to near-perfection. She'd even tried grooming the silver out of her rump, but it had been impossible to do so. She was now six moons old, and had been for a sunrise or two. It was only a matter of time before her father had called the Clan to meet together, and she hoped it would be her ceremony. Though her kittish excitement was consistently growing more and more distant, it didn't stop her from being excited. After all, if there was any day to be excited.... this was it.

Wide, flower-yellow eyes stared up at the deputy with wonder, hope, and resignation all at once. Her fate was in his paws... and she was, admittedly, going to be crushed if this was not her ceremony.

The tom caught those yellow eyes staring up at him in anticipation and held Hollowkit's gaze for a few moments. Stars, he didn't want to leave her in the paws of another warrior. No other could prepare his daughter like he could, but he couldn't be stuck with four, possibly five apprentices, and if he were were to take of his kits it would be unfair to the rest. With a sigh, the tom began. "Hollowkit, please step forward."

"You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day on until you earn you warrior name you will be known as Hollowpaw, and your mentor will be Sagefeather. He is a talented young warrior that was swift in earning his name. May he train you well, little one."

He called her name. He did it. He called her name!

Impossibly wide eyes somehow got even wider as that fact sunk in, and her paws were moving before she herself could even register it. She would heed his call, easily weaving between her clanmates. Her eyes shone with the enthusiasm and love that she had for her father, and that love was expanding to her Clan, even if slowly. She would do right by him.

As she was announced as Hollowpaw, a little sway came over her in jubilee. Weight shifted from one forepaw to the other, almost as if she were humming a tune. "Thank you, sir." Calling her father sir felt particularly weird on her tongue, but she was in front of the rest of her Clan. It wouldn't exactly be fitting for her to call him Dad as she so-often did. Hopping to all four paws, and following where his gaze tracked to her mentor, she made her way over to him and dipped her head in greeting, before sitting beside him. Mentor and apprentice. She would train hard under Sagefeather.

She remained in his memory simply as the most plaintive and poignant of a line of ghosts

Pale green eyes peered out from the darkness of the nursery, watching the ceremony with quiet interest. Voices, beautiful and ugly, soft and loud, kind and harsh, mingled to weave a blanket of murmur which carried through the procedure, and she personally thought that it was this exact blanket that kept her father's voice higher than the rest, like waves pushing a piece of wood to the top.

Hollowkit stepped forward. Juniperkit's gaze traced the light of her sister's outline as the whispers softened soft enough for the finishing words to conclude it all. Her sister... was Hollowkit scared? She knew she would be, if so many eyes were to snap onto her. The sudden increase of volume, like the voices had broken free of a dam and now comes crashing down, jolted the she-kit, sending a brief flash of fear to her eyes. They chanted a name. Hollowpaw.

"Hollowpaw," Juniperkit joined her voice, soft as a whisper, to the torrent, green eyes blinking at her littermate with a sort of soft excitement. She pushed herself to her paws, pushed herself forward until she stood by her sister's side. Hollowpaw stood taller than her, as she always did. "Will you fetch me berries and pebbles, now that you're free to venture out of camp?" She asked, standing on tip-toes to whisper her request into her sister's ears. The thought of new materials sent a quiet thrill down her spine, and her tail flicked in excitement.
