fourth times the charm? [solo-hunt]

Dawn broke, and Louse rose with it. Today he would spend dawn until dusk hunting, until he was perfect, and until no nasty critters pounced on him. With dawn came the chatter of birds... Plucking them was annoying, but he didn't plan to eat them today. There were a few trees nearby, and plenty of pigeons were roosting in the lower branches. He wasn't much of a climber, but he felt certain he could jump that high...

... Amber eyes watched... Waited and then Louse released the power coiled in his back legs in a massive spring. He struck out wildly, and he felt his claws connect with a feathered body. He'd got one! The rest scattered, but Louse didn't care, he'd finally caught something. Now he just had to catch a few more.

Louse dropped the pigeon, once he connected with solid ground. Time to move onto his next target. Amber eyes scanned the area, and conveniently there was a burrow hidden amongst the roots of the tree his catch had just been roosting in...

... Louse approached, whiskers twitching curiously. He poked his head in, but alas it was abandoned. The scent was stale, and he made a note to remember what empty burrows smelt like so as to not waste his time again.

There was a slight haze to the morning, but as the sun rose higher so did the cloud. The calico padded a little further into the woods, he supposed there would be more prey away from where his companions rested. All his senses felt alive as he waited for a sign to appear...

For Spring, when prey was suppose to be popping up everywhere it was surprisingly desolate. Louse grumbled quietly to himself, not wanting to scare them more than he was. It was incredibly annoying... How was he suppose to get better if there was no prey? he'd promised to spend all day hunting, but this was growing tedious and boring. No wonder his stupid father had made them eat bin slop it was much more abundant than a decent meal... Which he'd just discarded, and now his stomach was beginning to ache. He was going back and he'd put up with plucking a few feathers...

... Luckily he didn't have to. There was a ribbit and then a flash of green. As the frog jumped across the path Louse traipsed, he lunged forward, capturing it between his paws. Lunch had really just come to him as he willed it! He killed it with a bite, and then dug in.
