This topic counts as one of two required topics toward learning the move 'Ankle Biter'!
Muse enjoyed following ShadowClan patrols around on occasion, but she'd really found her most comfortable place hanging around the camp and entertaining the kits--and whatever apprentices had finished their training for the day, and even any warriors that weren't too busy.
Her easygoing personality and her place as the youngest meant this was easier than trying to make them take her seriously in a real fight, though she'd already proven herself more than once. "Alright! Let's play a game today!~"
She looked over the group that had gathered in front of her, and then gestured to the dead raccoon at her side.
"I want you all to attack this, just like it's a real enemy! I caught it just for you to practice on, so make sure you aim for its weak points. I'll tell you how well you did after, 'kay?~"

Another evening in camp, and Briarkit found that she was restless. She wasn't yet six moons old, and watching as some of the other kits had become apprentices had made her feel a twang of jealousy. She knew it was unfair of her perhaps, but couldn't Leopardstar and Sablestrike just let her become an apprentice a little early? It couldn't be that terrible, right?
One of the cats with strange names had come into camp dragging some sort of beast, and Briarkit watched from near the nursery, fascination and a bit of fear in her light green eyes. What was that thing? It must've been difficult to bring down, these cats were clearly as skilled as any Shadowclan warrior!
Gingerly, the little tortoiseshell padded forward with a couple of her denmates, ears pricked as the older she-cat spoke. Attack it like a real enemy... Maybe if she did well that would show her mother she could become an apprentice early? Her fear was quickly abandoned as she nipped at the gray and black pelt. The beast's legs were heavy and strong... Needle-like kitten teeth would hardly do real damage, of course, but did that really matter?
Briarkit uses Ankle Biter on dead raccoon for -30 sp, dealing -4 damage. Half damage for 2 turns.

The tom apprentice found himself standing in the middle of camp with no destination in mind. There was no training tonight since his mentor needed a break. There weren't any patrols for Fernpaw to join- except one, but it didn't include any members of his family. He'd rather spend time trying to improve his skills, and so he joined the nearby group of cats waiting to 'play a game' as Muse had just announced. A game? This fourth of Shadowclan's temporary guests seemed a bit young, giving him the impression this was a class for kits. Perhaps that was most evident by the kits gathered before her. Yet as she revealed she had caught the raccoon lying cold next to her, the tom quickly adjusted his expectations. After all, Muse was a member of the Riders of the Storm and likely just as capable as the rest. Still, Fernpaw struggled to disregard the rather kiddish nature of practicing on a dead animal. How could he use the element of surprise or test his reflexes if the opponent couldn't even breathe? Nonetheless, practice makes perfect, and these lessons for the younger clan cats were invaluable.
A kit strode forth toward the raccoon. Their difference in size sent a chill down his spine. She bit into the carcass's ankle eagerly, not seeming to do much damage. Good effort. Fernpaw stepped ahead of the crowd, waiting to take his turn next. Once Muse reviewed the kitten's attempt he moved up to the raccoon, and quietly told Briarkit, "Keep practicing. Your teeth will strengthen as you grow, so make sure that you train your muscle memory."
Fernpaw studied the raccoon. Its corpse bore sharp claws and beady eyes. He could hear its horrible hiss in his head and was glad this creature wasn't out in the swamp ready to harm a passing clanmate. The Shadowclan tom crouched a short distance away from his target, hiding in the nearby shade. If the raccoon were able to move around he would wait until it was distracted, but since it was in fact very deceased, Fernpaw easily sprung towards its limp hindlegs and caught the tender space just above its dirty paw. He bit hard enough to pierce the tough hide of a toad before retreating. If there were a real threat of harm the apprentice would take cover, however, he did not feel the need to demonstrate that scenario. Fernpaw looked to Muse with an unblinking, curious green gaze.
Fernpaw used Ankle Biter on the Dead Raccoon, dealing 8 damage and costing 30 stamina. The Dead Raccoon deals half damage for 1 turn.

Two fat mice dangled from his jaws as he entered the hollow, the broad tom making his way to the fresh-kill pile when he noticed a small group forming with one of the nomads. His head tilted, curious. Another game? He quickened his step to drop off his prey, his interest piqued. He was probably getting old for games, but each one so far had been to teach a useful skill. Was there going to be more hiding? Or maybe-
Why was there a dead raccoon?
Muse explained and it became clear what skill this game was meant to teach. The idea of attacking something dead seemed a little odd. There was no need to hide from something that could see you, nor were there any attacks you had to dodge when your target couldn't move. Yet, it would be a good chance to learn what anatomy to aim for. Figuring out where and how to latch your teeth onto an ememy was much easier when it wouldn't try and avoid your jaws.
He watched young Briarkit go first, then Fernpaw, his critical gaze taking in their actions. It seemed they were going after their joints and tendons, an idea he was shamelessly going to take for himself. After Muse had given her critique of the other tom's work, he gave Fernpaw a subtle nod of acknowledgment before stepping up to take his own turn. His eyes flicked over the cool corpse for a moment, eyeing a vulnerable spot as he dropped down low to the ground. He didn't waste time leaping forward, his claws outstretched to hook into the flesh of the raccoon's leg before his teeth followed suit. He latched just above the ankle, his fangs sinking in for a good hold, Boarpaw shaking his head to tear at the delicate muscles and tendons under the skin.
The moment he felt he did enough, he bounced backward as though avoiding an invisible blow. A corpse couldn't retaliate, but it was better to get into the habit of expecting one.
Boarpaw used Ankle Biter on Dead Raccoon, dealing 8 Damage and costing 30 SP. Dead Raccoon deals Half Damage for 2 Turns.
Boarpaw: 20/20 HP 30/60 SP (-30)
Dead Raccoon: 0/20 HP (-8)

Orchidpaw stared at the raccoon corpse with disgust, her nose wrinkling and her lip curling. What was that thing? It smells. She looked up from the raccoon to Muse, her eyes exploring the nomad's expression in hopes that this was just a cruel joke. To her dismay, it wasn't.
As members of her group took it seriously and nipped the ankles of the raccoon corpse - her stomach turned. She watched Boarpaw sink his teeth into the raccoon, and then take a dramatic bounce backward - landing in front of her. Did he think the raccoon was going to attack him? Her eyes sparkled with amusement.
I could bite him instead. She thought. Not a moment to spare to rethink her sudden scheme, she nipped at his right ankle, taking it firmly in her mouth and shaking 'violently', as demonstrated. She was careful to make sure she didn't hurt him - Boarpaw was one of her favorite den mates. But... It was favorable over a nasty raccoon.
Orchidpaw used Ankle Biter on Boarpaw dealing 8 Damage and costing 30 SP. Boarpaw deals Half Damage for 2 turns.

Larkshine stood in front of Muse and watched as her clanmates snapped at the dead raccoon. She decided to give it a try and snapped at its back leg as well…

Smokeykit perked up, finally bounding to the front to get a chance to try out the new move. Nothing ever happened around the nursery, and he was ecstatic to learn something new! And a battle move, no less - how exciting! As he neared the raccoon, he wrinkled his nose, appalled at the smell. "Miss Muse, can't we practice on something real and less smelly? Like each other!" He meowed, his eyes wide and glimmering with excitement.
But he'd take what he could get. He'd carefully observed everyone else, and he was sure he could do way better than they ever could. Smokeykit launched his fluffy grey form forward, sinking his teeth into the raccoon's leg with glee. He purred in satisfaction as his tiny fangs met flesh, shaking his head violently as though he were really killing the limp animal.
Smokeykit used Ankle Biter on the Dead Raccoon, dealing 8 damage and costing 30 SP! Dead Raccoon deals half damage for 2 turns.

Having completed his attempt, he was content to watch the others attack the dead raccoon. Watching the others could give him just as many tricks and ideas as the nomad's advice. He began to take a step back to give the others more space to work, unaware he was a target himself.
Boarpaw let out a rather shameful squawk of shock when he felt jaws wrap around his ankle, his thick coat. Just Orchidpaw, thankfully, but the lack of warning gave him a fright. He let out an amused huff, forcing his fur to lay flat. "I don't think I'm a raccoon. You may want to get your eyes checked," he teased, his voice monotone but his lips pulling into a slight smile as a sign of his jest. He pulled out of her grip, giving her a light, playful bop in the nose with his foot.

"Very good, Briarkit!~" Muse cheered as the little kit showed clear talent and understanding for where and how to attack. Sure, she was a tiny kit, and wouldn't be able to do any real damage just yet--but Muse was sure she'd be fantastic at it later on.
"Oh, not bad, Fernpaw! Maybe aim a little lower, though?~" Her nose twitched as she felt his gaze on her, unsure of how exactly to respond. "You can really catch 'em off guard if you get the position just right!~"
She nodded brightly at the next cat to step forward. "Great work, Boarpaw! Just like that--they'll be fighting back, most of the time!~"
The one that followed ignored the target Muse had provided, instead aiming for her fellow apprentice. "Good form, Orchidpaw! But, um, maybe don't demonstrate on your friends next time.~"
They were, overall, managing quite well; Muse was proud of the little group she'd gathered together here. "That's good, Larkshine!~"
The kit that stepped forward after her posed a question, and Muse considered it briefly. "Well, you won't be able to fight each other like this, since it doesn't really work well on cats; it's meant for fighting the big, scary, dangerous things. Like the raccoon! This one's just dead so it can't hurt you.~"
