Welcome to SkyClan Patrols and Duties: Predator Hunt! For many generations, Skyclan has actively hunted predators within their territory. Since SkyClan's arrival back to the forest territories, this tradition is being re-introduced. Wolfstar and Honeydew seek to neutralize these threats in the name of making Skyclan's territory safer for the clan. Recent patrols have reported the scent of fox near the Halfstone. Investigate to make sure that the threat noticed within Skyclan's territory is no longer within Skyclan's borders, and if they are, dispatch them swiftly.
RULES: At the beginning of the topic, during your first post, roll one Hunting Dice to investigate with your character. Your character will use their senses to determine whether or not they can detect signs of the predator still in the area. After each participant writes out an investigation post and rolls, the predator will make its appearance and the battle can begin! 1-3: Fails to detect signs of the predator. 4-6: Detects minor to moderate signs, such as a faint scent, territorial scratch marks, etc. 7-9: Detects strong signs, such as droppings, tufts of fur, etc. 10: Discovers the predator's wearabouts - get ready for an encounter!
Timer: You will have 48 hours to post after combat starts when it is your turn to attack. Similarly to the 36-hour rule under Official Group Battle Rules, if you take longer than the allotted time, your character will be considered knocked out or fled. For ALL rules, be sure to read the SkyClan Patrols and Duties post in its entirety!
Recently, many patrols had returned to Honeydew with reports of fox-scent near the Halfstone. She had ordered increased patrols in the area, but it seemed as though the fox wouldn't leave SkyClan territory on its own. Most likely, the creature had a nest there, and may even plan to raise kits come newleaf, which was a threat that SkyClan could not afford. Honeydew promptly organized a patrol to chase off or dispatch the creature for good.
Foxes were nocturnal creatures, so Honeydew knew to set off in the morning, before the sun reached its highest point. Hopefully, it will be exhausted from being out all night, and it'll be asleep when we get there, she reasoned to herself. She knew she had to choose strong warriors for this patrol, as foxes were powerful opponents. She had chosen Stormwatcher to lead the patrol, and she would accompany him along with Shatteredsky and Mallowpaw.
Together the patrol set off through the forest in the direction of Halfstone. Anxiety clawed at Honeydew's chest, and it felt as though she'd swallowed a rock. This would be a dangerous battle, and the first predator hunt since SkyClan returned to the forest. It was a returning tradition that Wolfblossom had made her aware of as she was promoted to deputy. Her blue eyes flickered between the members of the patrol: Stormwatcher, the eldest warrior among them, and a fierce fighter, would be a great choice to lead the patrol. Shatteredsky was one of the strongest warriors she knew, and just as fierce in battle. Mallowpaw needed the experience, and Honeydew enjoyed his company. He was a comforting pillar of support for her while her heart was weighed down by worry.
As the patrol neared Halfstone, Honeydew slowed her pace, allowing Stormwatcher to take the lead. Her pelt brushed against Mallowpaw's.
Honeydew is allowing Stormwatcher to take the lead, and will roll for investigation after everyone else posts.

Stormwatcher was a bit shocked at first. Honeydew wanted him to take lead on this? Moons ago the warrior had been the laziest warrior in the whole clan if not the whole forest. However, with a lot of recent prodding from Wolfblossom and Birdstar when she was alive the warrior had a turnaround and was now actually trying.
As he slowly thought about it more and more his mindset shifted from being shocked at the given role to content and even pleased with this. He found himself grateful that Honeydew saw the growth he had and the fact that she was going to rely on his older experience even though she could have taken lead due to being deputy made him respect her even more.
He gave her a silent nod and narrowed his eyes as he turned forward towards where the fox was last reported as they left camp.
"Stick close, look for signs, everyone on high alert. We aim to kill this thing once and for all, foxes kill kits and apprentices if they can. We are not going to let it get away just for it to come back in a moon" he whispered to the patrol that followed him. He would fight to whatever it took to ensure everyone got back from this. With the recent Riverclan and Thunderclan battle he had been itching for a fight or spar anyways to take out his frustrations on. His sister (adoptive) had died, that rotten Perchstar had taken every last one of her lives when she had claimed they were only there for beechface.
What a liar, just thinking about that grey and white chested molly had his claws digging into the ground already in anticipation for the fox fight that was sure to come.
He sniffed at the ground for any new scent of their enemy.
Nothing. He glanced back and forth his narrowed eyes focused for any signs of movement, but so far he had picked up no scents from over here he looked over at his patrol mates currently investigation ready to spring into the fight if they had stumbled across it yet.

Shatteredsky didn't know why everyone insisted on having Honeydew join a patrol where their only job was to fight, or why she had agreed to it. It should be obvious to anyone that hurting or killing something was not something she was meant to do, but then again no one had protested when she was sent to war or when she was made deputy, so why would they care now? They were either mouse-brained or didn't care whether Honeydew lived or not. Well, he'd do the caring for her, and that meant finding that disgusting predator before she did.
A quick scan of the area revealed tufts of ginger fur caught in brambles. Shatteredsky gave them an experimental sniff, and true enough, they belonged to a fox. "Stormwatcher!" He called over the patrol-leader, jabbing his paw at the clear evidence he had found.

Mallowpaw had been trotting along quietly, ears pricked for signs of danger. This was his first predator patrol, and he'd been excited to be picked to be part of it. Honeydew had chosen him, right alongside Shatteredsky and a Storm watcher. If they ran into anything, he was certain they'd be fine; it was practically a patrol full of warriors. Mallowpaw just had to earn his warrior name now.
He moved closer to Shatteredsky after he called out for the patrol leader, but maintained his distance. He wanted to make sure there wasn't anything hiding out either...
But he'd found nothing. He turned to the hot-headed warrior, mewing quietly. "What'd you find?"

Stormwatcher's patrol fanned out over the area, tensed and ready for battle at the slightest twig snap. Each and every one of them was on high guard, their senses alert for signs of the fox. Honeydew scanned the brush, jaws parted to drink in the scents of the area, her hackles raised and eyes narrowed.
Rolled a 10... uh-oh! o_o' Prepare for an encounter!
Fox
It had been a peaceful rest, until it was interrupted by the sounds of some creatures snuffling about outside the den. The vixen raised her russet head, nose twitching as it detected the scents of not one... not two, nor three... but four of those wretched cats. Something about this didn't feel right. She got to her paws quickly and silently, streaking towards the mouth of its den, and poked her nose out between the rocks to peer out into the clearing, a growl raised in her throat. Her amber gaze was met by the hostile eyes of several tresspassers. Her instincts kicked in, and the desire to protect her unborn kits outweighed the obvious threat of being outnumbered. These cats would pay for intruding on her territory.
And she leaped out of the cover of her den, her lips raised in a warning snarl. Get out, she hissed, back off! But foxes had never been able to understand the tongue of cats, nor vice-versa. Her fur raised, making the vixen appear nearly twice her original size as the patrol of cats surrounded her.
She lashed out at the closest one - a golden-and-white colored she-cat, her teeth flashing in the sunlight.
Fox used Iron Bite on Honeydew, dealing a whopping 17 damage and -30SP!!

Honeydew screamed in agony as the russet figure shot out of its den and caught her front leg with its sharp teeth. She had no time to react before she was screaming, spitting, writhing in the creature's iron grip. She could not pull her arm free.
"ATTACK!" she yowled at the top of her lungs, her high-pitched voice drenched in agony and urgency. It seemed she had been the bait all along.

(oh shoot... I think by the strictest of rules we all just timed out... I had this on my list but I took my lunch at work later than I planed to originally TwT... Hopefully UwUbers you are okay with us being a little late? idk it is totally up to you. I will post hoping that the timer can be extended but I understand if not)
Stormwatcher spun around on his paws. The rear of their patrol had been attacked and outflanked. His heart sank as he heard the young deputies cry in pain.
How had he let this happen? He had tried to be so careful and actually plan ahead and they were still taken by suprise.
He muttered under his breath as he flung himself at the fox
Reaching the fox he bit at it and did not let go Stormwatcher uses snap for 7 sp and 10 dmg
Mallowpaw snapped up when the vixen broke into view and his ears were filled with the pained cry of his closest friend and deputy. He had never been in a real fight, he had never shed blood or anything of the sort but now would be different. He whipped around to the fox and charged towards it, forepaws outstretched to rake his claws down its flank in a fierce snarl. "Get your filthy jaws off of my friend!"
Mallowpaw used Front Paw Strike on the Fox, costing 7SP and doing 6 HP for damage!

Too late. Somehow, he didn't notice the fox until the creature had closed it's jaws around Honeydew. For one moment, the tom stood still, starring as the beast's fangs ripped at his sister. And then he was off the ground, teeth digging into the foul creature's tail and yanking it backwards, away from his sister who he had failed to save. He need to work on his awareness skills, but before that this fox would pay for what it had done.
Shatteredsky used Tail Yank, dealing 8dmg and -15SP Fox is stunned for 1 turn

The fox was ripped off her, and Honeydew bounced backwards, hissing with pain as she shook out her leg, punctured and bloodied by the fox's sharp teeth. She turned on it, slashing out wildly with one paw and then the next as it lay on its side. I have to protect Mallowpaw, she decided. She crinkled her nose from the scent of blood as it poured over the earth at her paws. This fox is a threat to all SkyClanners.
Honeydew used Front Paw Strike + Desperate Blows, dealing 13 (8+5) damage and costing -12 (5+7) SP! The fox was suddenly surrounded on all sides by angry cats. She hung onto her prey, shaking her head from side to side. Blinded by fury and rage, and the desire to protect her unborn kits, the fox would not let go. One of them flung itself at her, digging its claws and teeth into her pelt. The smaller one sliced down her flank, the heat of blood pouring onto her fur. At this, the fox let go, turning to face the little creature, but not before her tail was yanked and her legs buckled beneath her. The fox stumbled, falling onto her side, her paws flailing as she struggled to protect herself from the onslaught, teeth bared.
The fox is no longer stunned! Fox 23/60 HP (-13 HP) 130/180 SP
OOC: This battle has timed out! Going forward, instead of a battle timer for Predator Hunts, if a hunt is not finished before the next round of patrols are posted, the predator escapes. In this case, we can say that the fox escaped, and was the mutilated body later discovered by the clanwide patrols.
