Murkyriver found herself particularly ambivalent to the forest's inability to hold a consistent temperature for any pattern of days in a row. Newleaf was on the horizon, and she still had the thick pelt to keep her warm. There'd come a time particularly soon where the thick tufts of her undercoat would suddenly decide they no longer wanted to cling to her frame, and at that point, they would become a fantastic addition to the moss bedding used for the kits and elders. For the time being, though, they kept her warm. It meant she could simply continue forth, leading the patrol that she'd been given. Her growing seniority within the clan meant that Perchstar and Poppyshine alike entrusted her with the ability to lead patrols, even if they often were as simple as: go do the thing.
Of course, it was an easy hunting patrol. Even as she was tasked with taking along a couple of apprentices, she had been experienced enough in guiding their paws to warriorhood that she had no issue feeling comfortable taking them with her. The only cat that had given her a slight bit of questioning was Pigeonpaw. The cat that her apprentice seemed to follow around like a shadow, and the younger sister to Dovetail.
Just as her thoughts had drifted to the apprentice, it seemed she sensed it, the frosty paw-stomp causing her to turn her head. A dim ember gaze assessed just what the apprentice wanted, and she blinked as the younger molly stated that there was a question that she had. Of course, she didn't have to wait long. She should have expected it - it was natural for family to question why their sibling seemed to have such a close companion for one reason or another. Had she been a more vocal cat, she would have chuffed. But she wasn't, instead, simple silent regard being what filled the space between the two walking mollies. She scanned her memory for what she knew about the apprentice before her, aside from the simple fact that she knew she was Dovetail's sister... and it was there that her response came to mind.
"It is no different than your bond with Scarletpaw." He seemed to follow the other apprentice around like a shadow. As she led them to one of Riverclan's many fishing streams, she took her place at the edge of the waters, ready to hunt. "Does that pose an issue?" Her question was delivered in a near-monotone voice, only the slightest uptick in her tone to indicate the question was to be delivered in good faith. She knew her apprentice regarded her with nothing less than absolute disdain, and she was just fine with that fact. However, she would find herself particularly disgruntled if an apprentice was going to regard her with hypocrisy for having a similar bond with a warrior. As her question hung in the air, her attention went back to the waters before her, swiping a paw beneath the surface to return a piece of prey. Though she held the distraction of her forced conversation-companion, the fish was still returned to her on the shore. An easy catch.
Murkyriver attempts to fish! Success! -5SP
