A tufted ear flicked as he heard the ceremony call, the tom peeking out from the nursery's entrance. Boarpaw had been growing like a weed, filling out and certainly not helping with the crowding issue. Boarkit had also been counting the days for when he would be apprenticed, every night glancing at the moon to watch it shrink and fill with the passage of time. He knew he was getting close, if he wasn't already the right age, and had started paying much more attention to each ceremony Sablestrike called.

He padded over to the growing crowd on oversized paws, amber eyes locking onto the deputy. Perhaps this one was for him, the kit itching to leave the confines of camp.

Boarkit instantly perked up at the sound of his name, his heart skipping a beat in surprise and excitement. Eyes wide with awe, the young tom stepped forward to receive his name. Boarpaw. It was such a little verbal change, but it granted far more permissions than -kit ever did. A small purr rumbled in his throat.

His head twisted to search the crowd of cats for his new mentor, but she found him first, approaching him with infectious enthusiasm. His bobbed tail twitched back and forth, a sign of his own excitement that his face failed to emote. He pressed his nose to hers, kneading the ground as eager energy sought any outlet. "A little." He responded, a dead lie. His monotone cadence might have facilitated the bluff well if there weren't a multitude of other tells saying otherwise. "What will we be doing first?"
