Sagekit's Apprentice Ceremony

A black form stood at the apex of the Jaggedrock, staring down at the camp below with a single golden eye. Few heads turned to meet his gaze, a sign that he should begin.

"All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, please gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!"

Sagekit shook out his pelt and stretched before he left the nursery. He reminded himself to be patient and wait, but the longer he did, the harder it was to be patient. He sat down beneath the jagged rock and looked up Sablestrike for what felt like the millionth time in a week. Many kits were getting their ceremonies. This one had to be his!

Spotting both the kit that would receive a new name and the warrior that would mentor him, Sablestrike began the ceremony. "Sagekit, please step forward."

"You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day on until you earn you warrior name you will be known as Sagepaw. Your mentor will be Sunflare. He is a loyal warrior with skills to match, I can think of no better warrior to take you on. May he guide you well."

Once again he was to guide the paws of a young cat called Sage, this time as a mentor rather than a father. Sunflare could only hope this venture would meet with less tragedy. He stepped forward and touched noses with the ginger tom. “Take the remainder of tonight to celebrate. Training begins tomorrow at dusk.”
