The marshland air was ripe with the smell of piling garbage as Grub neared the fence that led into the landfill, spotlights illuminating shiny trinkets he was eager to pick through. And then a sudden shift in the surrounding shadows made him turn his head, the bell lodged into the empty eye socket of the badger pelt he wore jingling as he did. He was not alone out here. But who else would rummage around in the trash but another rogue? And if it were another rogue, surely they would be part of the Crew...

'Invasion Dice' :

Perhaps it was paranoia, but Badgermask had taken it upon herself to make visits to the Carrionplace every few days since the Clan had returned to their territory. It was hard not to be nervous - recalling the patrol she had taken with her mother after the swarm of rats only to find the Carrionplace empty - not a piece of crowfood remaining. Even now, the piles barely piled up to what she remembered from her trips out this way from before and...And she would make sure they never disappeared on them again lest the rats within choose to swarm them once more.

Speaking of rats... She patrolled the outside piles, ears perked for any sound or traces for one she could hunt - to try to keep their numbers in check and remind them to fear the cats. As she stalked, dodging the odd tiny suns - movement on the outside of the fence caught her eye, moonlight illuminating the fur of a white and black beast. Her breath caught in her throat, recognizing it for what it was - a badger. That was until it turned its head slightly towards her, an odd noise echoing it as there was a glimmer where its eye should have been - something unnatural. She stalked forward, sticking to the shadows as she tried to make out this...Thing.

Something was wrong and it wasn't until she got close that she realized it was far from a proper badger, it was the pelt of one. She was used to this - her sister had a badger pelt she had treasured after all...Well, had until... Her eyes narrowed as she studied the pelt that was draped over the cat's back - before a snarl escaped her as she realized it was an one-eyed badger...Just like the one that had been stolen. "Well, well," she growled as she stepped from the shadows, eyes glimmering dangerously as she bared her fangs. "What a strange pelt you have there, dare I ask where you found it?" Her tone was sharp, venomous and her muscles were bunched - ready to launch an attack if the cat so much as hinted that it could be Heatherberry's long missing pelt.

If his fur hadn't been attached to his body, Grub would have jumped out of it at the sound of an unknown voice growling in his direction. Out of all the clan cats to return, he really hadn't thought about the one that stalked the shadows; especially not near dumping grounds. His whiskers twitched, causing his teeth to show in a nervous grin. He quite liked his one-eyed badger pelt that fit a jingling relic he had found inside the marshland camp. "Why? Is it yours? The colors kind of clash with your pelt, don't they?" His fur was also a mixture of orange, black and white so he was one to talk. He just enjoyed how he could hide beneath it and pretend to be a lumbering beast.

He stumbled slightly as he caught a glimpse of muscles beginning to bunch beneath that multi-colored fur. "Finders keepers, loser. Get your own." He hissed back a warning, claws unsheathing as he met her furious scowl. The thought of running did cross his mind... But he had been attacked by her kind a few times before to know it was never that easy.

The pelt slipped off his lanky shoulders and into the dirt as he launched forward, the jingling bell dislodging from the one intact eye socket. Claws glinted from the glare of the spotlights.

A snarl escaped Badgermask as the tom questioned why she cared - that the pelt didn't match her. She wanted to scoff at that - if anything, using the black and white pelt to hide her orange bits would actually be useful. But it wasn't hers...And she was starting to consider that it was the one-eyed pelt that her sister had been missing so dearly. She was ready to attack, but she didn't quite expect him to make the first move.

Claws glimmered in the fake sunlights as he leapt, claws sinking into her back as she yowled in anger and annoyance. She knew the easiest way to break the pin, but it came at the risk of exposing her belly...So her eyes fell onto the fence that surrounded the Carrionplace... And rammed into it, turning her body so that Grub was forced between her and the hard surface. It wasn't the most graceful way to deal with him, but she managed to use his no-doubt shock and pain of being squished to slip free, turning to face him with bared fangs. "I think you'll find that I'll be walking away with it before the night is over," she growled, an almost purr following it at the thrill of the idea of bringing her sister back good news for once. "But I don't quite care if you'll be walking away at all if you keep this up."

A nervous giggle broke free into a deranged laugh as he found himself no longer upright and attached to the spotted molly's back, but instead pinned against the metal fence painfully. He did not find this situation funny, but he couldn't help it. It was too comical of a situation to hold it in any longer. He hated her. He hated the forest. He hated the clans. He hated them all! Finders Keepers was a thing with every wild running cat, yet a measly pelt that had been laid to claim for months was what these cats chose to fight over? Just get another one!

A flurry of kicks to the snarling - almost purring - she-cat as he broke free from he his pin against the rusty and jagged metal. He shrieked with anger as a back claw twisted itself into the fence and ripped free from his paw. "Before the night is over, I'll be wearing your pelt." He hissed into her ear, sinking his fangs into it and shaking his head. Whether it ripped into jagged lines or merely punctured holes into it mattered not. He was satisfied with the tang of blood on his tongue and he would be drawing so much more by the end of this scuffle. He leapt away, twisting his body as he landed so his eyes could latch onto her green ones with hatred mimicked in eithers gaze.

An angry hiss escaped Badgermask as the tom lunged at her - hissing into her ear before his teeth sank into it. Her reaction was instant - she likewise tried to shake her head to pull herself free but as he jerked his head in the opposite direction... There was pain, a sickening tearing sound and blood as they were stumbling apart - Grub managing an almost graceful leap while she barely caught herself as she twitched what remained of her ear - scattering crimson to the ground between them.

Her gaze shifted from the fallen blood to the tom before her, before she bared a toothy grin. She... She wasn't sure the last time she had felt such excitement. The wolves, the dogs... They had been terrifying, the threat they were to her family but this sorry scrap of a tom? It was just her and him, no other cats at risk. She hadn't realized it, the thrill of fighting for herself before a crackling laugh escaped her. All of the worries, the weight that had been a burden in the wake of her father's death was gone in the bloodlust that had washed over her. "Oh, now that is an idea," she said as she took a step forward, eyes glinting dangerously. "Make a pelt of you to so your rogues learn to stay off of territory that belongs to us," she snarled before she leapt forward.

Her movement was smooth, her body slinking low before she quickly raised her head, ramming it into Grub's chin to force him up as a paw lashed out towards his underbelly - scoring a hard hit as her claws raked down and left dripping crimson in their wake. Her eyes glinted - perhaps he would live once she was done with him and took what he had stolen... But if he did, it would be as a solid warning to keep off of their territory.

He examined the damage he had done to her ear, feeling only a little satisfied that a clan cat now paid for his missing ear. It had been a Wind Clan cats fault, but in his eyes? Every clan cat was the same. She deserved it. Her grin sent a chill down his spine that sent the grimy hairs along it to stand up. Infectious laughter surrounded the two as his anxious, dranged giggles kicked up in response to her eery cackling. He was in trouble.

It was as though the she-cat herself had become the very shadows that made up this land. She was fluid in her movements. Quick. Quiet. He misjudged her movements as he attempted to dodge, only for her to spring upwards and give his chin most vicious headbutt he had ever received. It made his teeth rattle - he was sure he had heard on one of them crack. There wasn't much time to hold onto that thought as claws tore into him from chest to belly. He yowled with fury, fear, and a little but of... Excitment? The prospect of losing his life here had suddenly become very real. Did it scare him or excite him? Maybe it was both. Though he was sure he feared death more.

With her in such close proximity Grub launched forward, scattering warm blood that melted the snow around them. He opened his aching jaw and clamped down the scruff she presented to him so foolishly, holding on for dear life even though he ached from tooth to belly. She would need to work for this win.

Her grin turned into a snarl as Grub launched at her before she could pull away, teeth sinking into her scruff. She yowled in anger and annoyance as she attempted to shake herself free but it was no use, she knew it - he wouldn't allow her to ram him into another fence or anything else. Instead, she was forced to slash out the best she could at him but she knew the odd position they were in meant her blows was less then she wanted. Her tail lashed as she squirmed despite it being in vain - sooner or later he would lose his grip and then he would pay.

She could feel the blood starting to run down her neck, coating the black and orange fur on her neck a bright red but she didn't care - the pain hurt but in the energy of the battle, it barely registered how bad it could be. She contuined to wiggle and buck, feeling the grip on her neck start to loosen and with some effort, managed to pull herself free as she turned and swiped at Grub as she stumbled - her blow still somewhat glancing. Her green eyes were narrowed as she stared, breath heaving as she quickly started to choose what her next move would be.
