Ivykit's Apprentice Ceremony

Acornstem's shoulders quaked as she stretched the best she could in her sitting position - afraid that if she didn't move a tiny bit she would freeze to the stone she had found to serve as her announcement spot. They were getting closer and closer to home and it was inspiring a new warmth within the deputy. They would reach the camp, take a moon to recover and things would be fine. She would focus on the apprentices, get them used to a normal life...But before that, she had to name even more. Part of her wished to put it off, to wait until they were in the familiar forest... But that wouldn't be fair - the other kits who had reached six moons old had been named. Ivykit wouldn't be made to wait - no, he would get his name even if they weren't home yet.

"Let all cats safe from the bramble's thorns gather for a Clan meeting!"

Ivykit stopped playing mossball and turned his head towards Acornstem, sitting on the rock. It was a clan meeting! He dropped his mossball and raced towards the gathering cats, squishing himself in between them. His eyes lit up as all the cats hushed, and he stared at the deputy, Acornstem. Every ceremony that went by made him wish more that his was the next. His small legs ached from the journey, and he was more than ready to become an apprentice. All the other kits in the nursery were becoming apprentices each passing day, so when was his turn?

"I've called you all here to celebrate - every passing sunrise is seeing us closer to home...To achieve a semblance of normalcy once we've reclaimed our territory. But there is no ThunderClan without our cats - current warriors, apprentices...And soon-to-be apprentices. Ivykit, please step forward," she called out with a swish of her tail and a gentle smile.

"Ivykit, you have reached the age of six moons and so I bestow upon you your apprentice name. From this moment on, you will be Ivypaw. Your mentor will be Vinecrawler," she meowed as she glanced at the tom. There had been some temptation to give Vinecrawler one of the kits he had brought into the Clan to remind him the responsibility he had for them, but she suspected that neither of the kits would be thrilled to learn how to fight from the tom who had killed their mother... But with that settled in her mind, it still meant he was open to have an apprentice.

There was no real reason why she had chosen to pair the two - other than it seemed like a good pair... And perhaps she was amused by the paring of Vinecrawler and Ivypaw but she wouldn't admit that outloud.

Vinecrawler stepped forward to greet Ivypaw and congratulate him on his name. He had lost a particularly troublesome apprentice already, though he would hardly call that his fault. "Training begins tomorrow as the sun rises. Hunting."
