These idle paws (s)

A snowy canvas stretched out in front of the thick-pelted molly, tiny smatterings of color poking through the snow being the only indicator that this was where the molly thought she was. She had been told that a beautiful flower field bloomed on the moors, though she had been too late to see them. Alethea had known before she had set out to see this sight that it would be covered in snow by now, but that hadn't stopped the slightest bit of hope from worming its way into her chest. Hopes dashed, the molly turned herself towards a more productive activity. She wouldn't be able to see the lovely vibrant colors that had been described to her in their natural beauty, but she could still use this opportunity to test out her (lacking) hunting skills. The snow offered her an easier time finding prey, but with a pelt like hers that stuck out just as much Alethea didn't have that great of an advantage. Positioning herself downwind Alethea began prowling the moors, probably trampling the poor hidden flowers as she went. A silent apology went out to those poor things. Brown flashed in her vision momentarily and the molly leapt, and missed! Somehow she had ended up missing the fuzzy little beast by a wide margin, alerting it to her presence easily. Alethea watched as the squirrel disappeared somewhere in the field, a frown appearing on her face.

Skulking further into the moors Alethea found a familiar scent. Somewhere out there a juicy rat was waiting for her, and the molly wasted no time in setting out towards the scent's origin. Sticking low to the snow she crept closer and closer to the squirming figure. She stepped more carefully now than she had before, hoping that would be the missing piece to this whole hunting thing. Closer, closer, then she snapped! Lashing out with greedy paws Alethea found herself coming in contact with something larger than a rat, though just as ugly. Nasty sharp teeth glared back at Alethea. This ugly rat had just poached her hunt! A clawed paw swiped at the creature, and as it made contact the weasel twisted itself over Alethea's paw, needle-like teeth sinking into her arm.

No matter how she tried shaking the weasel from her arm it didn't seem to have an effect, other than making the beast bite down harder. Letting out a sharp hiss Alethea swiped along the weasel's length once more.

Sinking her teeth into her enemy finally seemed to make its grip loosen, and soon enough it was completely detached from her.

After a quick examination of the bite marks that had been left on her arm the molly deemed it to not be too serious. Still, she wanted to return home and do what she could for it. Setting off towards home the molly couldn't deny herself one more chance at catching something, another pleasant scent hitting her nose. A darkened bird seemed to be busy digging in the snow, a ripe target for her to sneak up on. Even as she flew at the bird with her paws at the ready Alethea knew she wouldn't have any luck with this one either. Then the unexpected happened, her paws landed on top of it! Alethea almost lost herself in the moment and let the winged-beast escape her, but a swift bite stilled it.

Triumph! She had done it! Almost a full moon of having to eat what was brought to her instead of what she had caught had finally paid off, tonight she would be feasting on her own hard-caught prey! Prancing the rest of the way to camp Alethea had to restrain herself from letting out yips of joy. Already she was planning on showing her impressive catch off to Forest and A- no! A vigorous shake of her head shuttled those thoughts away. Crunching brought her back to her senses, and Alethea was rushing towards the sound without a second thought.

Fast, this thing was fast! It easily eclipsed her pace and disappeared beyond the rolling hills of snow. She could care less however, she had got what she came for anyway.
