November Gathering (2023)

There was a chill in the air as ThunderClan made their way to Fourtrees. Lichenwing ducked his head and followed closely behind Mottlestar, at the front of the pack. It had been a moon or two since he'd bothered to attend a Gathering. The less he saw of SkyClan, the better, probably. But that didn't stop his eyes from sweeping the clearing the moment they showed up, hoping to find Juniperheart among them. Tonight, as per usual, he was let down.

The rest of ThunderClan dissipated about the clearing, but Lichenwing stuck towards the edge. He wasn't particularly in a mood to socialize tonight.

Why they were wasting the night and the energy to drag themselves to Fourtrees tonight was beyond Sunfire. As he followed behind his mother, his annoyed gaze fixated on the ground just before his paws, he debated asking. What good would it do them to socialize with the other clans, when resources were so low they were practically starving to death? His stomach growled on cue, and Sunfire had to suppress a growl. He had half a mind to take his kits and turn around. But they were nearly there, now... and causing a scene would do no one any good. They were all tired and hungry, he had to remind himself... sometimes, that was easy to forget.

They finally reached the border, and Sunfire trotted down the hill, turning to follow his sister rather than Wolfblossom, who would obviously be going to sit with the deputies. There was a brief pause to watch and see which direction Bearpaw was headed, and then he turned back to see Graywind had already gotten ahead of him. Yellow eyes flicked past her, watching as a tom that was Very Not SkyClan approached to make conversation. Nostrils flaring, Sunfire quickened his pace, moving to stand just beside his sister. Slicked back ears and a characteristic glower greeted Rookfire as he finished his sentence, but Sunfire didn't allow Graywind time to respond before peeling his lips back in a low hiss, "Get lost, ShadowClanner. Find someone in your own clan to annoy, we're not interested."

Smokepetal hung back as the clans mingled, briefly considering and then dismissing the idea of sitting with the other medicine cats tonight. So much had gone on... the visions, the dream... she wasn't sure who or where to turn to. Wolfblossom and Birdstar had their own problems, and she hadn't made friends with any of the other medicine cats well enough to confide in them, or ask them what they thought about it. For now, she would find a quiet spot to settle down.

Smokepetal is minding her own business in a dark corner somewhere.

Tonight was her first Gathering, and Minkpaw, though she should have been happy and excited, just wanted to be home. The walk here under normal circumstances, she was sure was fine. But she was hungry, and the near constant rumble in her gut had made the journey uncomfortable. Nevertheless, as they reached Fourtrees, she couldn't help but think the sight of the oaks towering over them was kinda cool... and the opportunity to talk to a cat from another clan, peacefully, was pretty intriguing too. The others went their own ways, and Minkpaw thrust herself forward into the crowd, gray eyes searching for someone interesting.

She spotted a pair of apprentices sitting together, and, figuring that was a good enough place to start, Minkpaw padded over to join them, waving her tail as she approached. "Hello! This is my first Gathering - I'm Minkpaw, from WindClan!"

Vinecrawler padded in alongside his siblings, splitting off to push through the crowd. He was bigger than he had been last gathering. But he was also far skinnier and way more moody as his stomach growled.

Close behind Leopardstar was Heatherberry, her spirits higher than usual after the newest litter that had blessed ShadowClan. However, her thoughts still plagued her on this bone-chilling night: StarClan was desperately trying to warn them of something. Amd she had a feeling Burdock had been right in her assumption: a devastating plague could be on its way.

Almost every part of her had wanted to stay back at camp. Back where she could protect her home and make the best use of her energy, despite the currently-trying times. It was an easy assessment to determine the simple fact that the trek from Riverclan's territory to Fourtrees would use up many more of her reserves than she should have offered, but there was reason to go. For despite the challenges that plagued the entire forest, the slightest glimmer of celebration had inserted itself into her life. Her place had been solidified, her worthiness deemed true. It was a fact she wished to share with her brother sooner, rather than later, and given the gathering's timing, it had been deemed the perfect time.

While it would have also been easy to share such news at Sunningrocks, there was a simple fact: All attention was turned onto figuring out how they could survive the river's poisoning. Borders were still maintained, but attention had turned elsewhere. It had made use of her previous skills, but even then, that only went so far when most prey had even ran. They, too, knew what had happened and knew better. So beyond their source of hydration, their nourishment had also dwindled. Dizziness plagued the newly-named warrior, as did a haggardly thin frame that was as close to horrendous as it had been not too long ago. She had survived this state once... she would do it again. The only difference that served between then and now was the flower that stayed in her fur, and part of her kept an eye out for any fresh lavender that she could replace it with. Lavender was always her top choice.

That search did not stop her from seeking out the familiar pelt, the one scented of the brambles and valerian. "Thrushie," Her call was quick, the feline quickly noting the tired state her kin also was in. She would make her announcement brief, then, as she pressed herself right up against him. "I have earned my name. I am Murkyriver now." Had there been more energy, or another time, she would have shared the news of her moonstone with him as well. But that could be saved for another time, when the forest wasn't on the verge of breaking.

Mintglade had followed in at the tail-end of her Clan. She had been practically asleep for most of the walk, hardly able to keep her eyes open as her clan made their journey. It wasn't as if she hadn't been to a gathering before, and she had felt a deep bite of envy as her former mentor stayed behind to protect their camp and rest. From the moment she stepped her paws into the clearing, it was particularly obvious: there would be no clans attempting to go behind another's back and attack. There was always the threat of predators, but even they had been in the state that all of the clan cats appeared to be in. Much, much too tired and weak to do anything than they should have been for this time of year.

Falconmoon had kept his head down a lot lately, working his tail into the dirt and saying very little. His eyes traveled across the gathering and he sat away from everyone in silence. His brother Sunfire caught his eye, and his fur bristled ever so slightly at his brother's words to the Shadowclan cat. Falconmoon had witnessed enough tragedy at gatherings... and had been the cause of some... to know that it was best to keep your mouth shut and to be civil regardless of your emotions. With a sigh, he looked to everyone else, knowing that if he stepped in after being so withdrawn for so long, Sunfire might redirect his ire at him. Falconmoon mostly just wanted to blend into and fade away into the background like he'd been doing for moons since Bloodstrike's death.

Falconmoon is away from everyone, sitting and not saying anything but open to talk to.

Lionstripe wasn't his usual perky self. His ribs were showing, as were his hips. He was hungry and cranky about it. There was an angry part of him that felt that Starclan should feed them if they wanted clan cats to keep showing up to these foxing gatherings.

Lionstripe is open to talk to but don't expect more than snippy answers.

Darkspirit did not attend.
