A Gentle Approach [C]

Nectarflower opened her eyes, blinking slowly as the horizon began to lighten. It was early in the morning...so early that the dawn patrol hadn't been sent out yet. However, Tigerdance was in the center of the clearing with a few warriors, presumably doing just that. Lifting herself to her paws, Nectarflower approached the deputy after the patrol left and quickly let him know of her plans for the day. Once that had been taken care of, she turned and padded towards patch where the apprentices slept.  

Her gaze landed on Eveningpaw almost instantly and she picked her way around the sleeping apprentices to her daughter side. "Good morning, love." She gently shook the younger she-cat, her voice soft so as not to wake the others. Once she was certain that Eveningpaw was at least lucid, she continued. "When you're ready, meet me out in the clearing, I want to take you somewhere." With a swift lick to the top of the she-cat's head, Nectarflower turned and maneuvered around the other apprentices until she was back in the clearing.

It was a good thing Tigerdance was willing to let her steal his apprentice for the day. Though, with everything going on, he might be glad for a short break from training. Humming to herself, the tortoiseshell warrior looked around, watching the sun rise from her spot in the center of the camp. Most of the clan was still fast asleep...hopefully Eveningpaw wouldn't be too upset about being woken up so early. Surely, once she revealed what they would be doing, any qualms would be silenced.

At least one of her kits was bound to share her interests of anything floral, right? Well, if Eveningpaw didn't, there was always Finchpaw. Of course, even if Eveningpaw did enjoy the flower fields, she would still take Finchpaw soon. It would be absolutely wonderful to spend some time with her kits now that they were apprentices. And, hopefully someday soon, she would be able to take all of her kits together as a little sort of family outing. Nectarflower purred softly - that sounded nice.

Nectarflower beamed at the sight of Eveningpaw approaching and got to her paws, a purr in her throat. Any cat could easily mistake them for the same cat if it weren't for Eveningpaw still being so young. A cat who was familiar with them would easily be able to tell the difference due to the different patterns of their fur and their demeanor, but otherwise, not really. It was nice having relatives in Windclan once more. After her mother passed, it seemed so empty and hollow. Then after the tragic loss of Ferntwist, Rosepaw, and Weaselfoot, even more so.

Looking down at Eveningpaw, however, Nectarflower felt all of her worries and sadness melt away like snow in the spring. She had kits of her own now, kits she needed to protect, there wasn't time to wallow in self-pity anymore. After a moment, she dipped her head to nuzzle Eveningpaw's cheek before pulling away, smiling softly. "Yes! I'm going to take you somewhere very special to me. It's a little bit of a walk, but we can catch up along the way."

If she were a more responsible cat, Nectarflower might had insisted on hunting together - given the food shortage - but she wasn't. Today, she just wanted to spend time with her daughter. Grinning, the warrior beckoned for Eveningpaw to follow before turning and making her way out of the camp, nodding to the guard as she went. "You might've already been to where I'm taking you, but after this, I promise you'll love it even more." She meowed brightly.

Leading Eveningpaw out of the hollow and uphill, Nectarflower turned in the direction of the flower fields, paws sure. She'd gone their countless times throughout her life - from the very first time Ferntwist had taken her to only a few days ago. It was almost a sacred place to Nectarflower who had, in all honesty, likely been named for her affinity towards the delicate plants. After a few moments of silence, she hummed under her breath. It was hard being a mother all on her own. What was she supposed to say? Finally, she opened her jaws, somewhat uncertain but wanting to try regardless. "So how's training been going? Is Tigerdance treating you well?"
