| RiverClan September 2023 Newsletter Current Happenings The former Murkyripple of ThunderClan has now joined RiverClan as Murkypaw. Though ThunderClan is an allied Clan, many cats are uncertain of welcoming an outsider into their ranks. Others are happy for the chance to make a new friend and ally. Some are simply concerned about the ramifications this might have on the ties between the two Clans. What does your cat think? And will they speak to Murkypaw, or even Perchstar, about it?
Morningpaw died tragically in an accident at the Twolegplace Farm, leaving his family to grieve. Perchstar has reiterated her rule that no apprentices are allowed to leave camp without one warrior present to avoid such disasters. Swanpaw has mentioned that a rogue named Felix was involved... but that this rogue bears a different description to the “dark-pelted loner” that many have sighted nearby the territory. What could this mean? Is it simply a coincidence, or is there something strange going on?
Topic Spotlight of the Month Every month, we will be spotlighting a topic within the RiverClan territory that we agree is particularly well-written, insightful, or eventful. If you have recommendations for that topic, then you can always feel free to reach out to Ash or Xaandiir during the month at some point! We are open to suggestions, and we love reading topics from you guys.
This month, the topic we are spotlighting is “to guide these lives we see”. This topic features fantastic posts from a handful of roleplayers: Ash, downfive, moonazyne, and isla. Each user flexed their writing prowess through lengthy posts that explored their characters’ mindset while out on this patrol together. Perchstar provided good insight for how the RiverClan leader thought of her apprentices, acknowledging their strengths and where they could improve, and thus how Perchstar could better herself as a mentor. Rookpaw has always been a quieter cat, and so their internal monologue provides the best look at their true feelings, which is demonstrated well as they consider their fellow clanmates. Cinderpaw’s nervous nature provides her some difficulties on her journey to becoming a warrior, and that is explored well as she defends her friend and battles her own anxieties when a predator arrives. Lavenderpaw also gets a wonderfully in-depth look of how he has been handling his apprenticeship, which has been working differently from his fellow classmates, and the love and protective nature he holds for his friends by protecting them from the sudden appearance of the goose.
