Similar to the day that had preceded it, the night of the half-moon was warm and muggy, only a faint breeze present to alleviate the night's heat. The breeze's attempts to ease the humidity were proving to be futile, for not even the strongest gusts could dismiss the moisture that persisted even to the highest reaches of Highstones. Within Mothermouth, however, medicine cats could find temporary relief in the cool, stony caverns that stretched just beyond the cave opening.

Echosong was again the first to arrive at Mothermouth, his white fur was stark against the ebony rock faces, and surely would not be missed by the other medicine cats. The tom was not singing this meeting, his mouth was shut and his eyes were narrowed. He had experienced much loss in the past moon and the humidity was his last straw. The deep furrow in his brow would be shocking to most - especially those who had only seen him joyous and calm. There was no malice in his eyes, no hate or distain - his blue orbs were a calm blue sea, flickering with pain and loss. He would be leaning on Fawnshine during this meeting, dealing with death was still something he was trying to get better at, he hoped his colleagues would understand.

The cool, welcoming walls of Mothermouth could not have come quick enough. Thick, black fur did not handle well in this humid air. Her eyes did not miss the look on one ThunderClan medicine cats face, a wave of pity and understanding washing over her. No words would be shared by her tonight, her large paws already carrying her away from the gathering cats to be deeper within the cooling shadows of Mothermouth. She would, however, spare a nod to the others.

Burdockroot carefully followed Heatherberry to the meeting. The humidity was horrible with her long flowing fur. With a nod to the other medicine cats, she settled in next to her apprentice.

Alone, Sparrowthorn appeared near the entrance to the Mothermouth. Unfortunately, she had news to share. Though it would be good news for Burdockroot, no doubt. "Before we head inside, I need to share that Batsong has left her position as Medicine Cat of Windclan, and I am no longer an apprentice. Batsong also has left Windclan. Do with this information what you wish, perhaps it will bring some comfort to Shadowclan." With a glance at the two Shadowclan medicine cats, Sparrowthorn fell silent, waiting for the rest of the medicine cats to gather.

Her eyes lit up at Sparrowthorn’s words. Oh. Relief dripped out of her chest, yet quickly refilled with perpetual anxiety. Where's Batsong now? she had to wonder with terror, Is she out for revenge? Her tail flicked side to side. She wished she didn't immediately think that way.
Remembering to speak, she opened her maw, but all the wrong things came to her head. Instead, Sandyshell dipped her head respectfully, and in shame. She wished she felt more sympathetic. The tabby avoided anyone’s gaze, privately guilty for her feelings towards Batsong’s disappearance.

Highstones
Wrenpaw shifted uncomfortably from the humidity in the air as she walked beside Sandyshell to Highstones, but at least she was not nervous like the last time they took this walk, able to chat with Sandyshell on the way with her normal cheer. Once closer, she immediately noticed as they approached the rapidly growing collection of medicine cats that there was no sign of the quiet humming there had been last time, and an air of grief hung over the Thunderclan medicine cats, particularly Echosong. She tried to offer Echosong a small smile, but there wasn’t much she could say or do to help, so she kept quiet.
Sparrowsong delivered news of the other Windclan Medicine Cat, Batsong. She had not really met Batsong directly, only heard her name in passing as the one who’d started all that trouble between Shadowclan and Thunderclan. She noted Sandyshell’s relief at the news, and followed her mentor’s lead in giving a little respectful dip of her head. As they sat to wait for the others, Wrenpaw pressed gently against Sandyshell’s side.

Fawnshine padded alongside Echosong to the Moonstone, her gaze a solemn stare that reflected a lingering bitterness from the recent events that had transpired inside of their clan. With the continuous waves of news washing upon Thunderclan, her eyes matched Echosong's own, not quite empty—not quite deep in thought.
She only nodded at the other medicine cats as they came, raising a brow at the report of Batsong's absence. Though, with how much conflict occurred between her clan and the heavy burden of reputation that came with it—Fawnshine didn't take it as much of a surprise. If she was too much of a coward to face the responsibilities occurring in her clan and the result of her actions, perhaps that shame wouldn't suit a medicine cat. She wouldn't miss her. And, strangely enough, she didn't feel guilty for it. They've not been on the best of terms.

Echosong met each gaze with his own, offering a slight dip to his head to each of them in greeting though did nothing more. He couldn't help but relax slightly when Sparrowthorn announced Batsong had left Windclan. His sentiments mirrored Fawnshine's and too wondered if Batsong was out for revenge or if she was simply looking for something new. While he had never been slighted by her directly, she had brought shame on the role of a medicine cat and he didn't tolerate anyone who went against the stars.
"Shall we?" After a moment of silence the tom nodded once more and got to his paws to enter the cave, he assumed that Skyclan would come soon and if they didn't he would make sure to tell Mottlestar. But the tom wanted to be home, he wanted to be in the comforts of the den.
His paws were swift in the darkness of the cavern, the stones familiar - he swore he could navigate them with his eyes closed at this point.
Without hesitation, the tom lay next to the shining crystal and touched his nose to it.

There was both relief in not having to look at the cat who started all of her heartache, and irritation that there had been no true apology before Batsong fled her duties. Wherever she was now... Heatherberry only hoped the previous WindClan medicine cat had learned her lesson. For the very first time since the deaths of her siblings, Heatherberry gave a nod of recognition to Sparrowthorn. Whatever the future held, she hoped it wouldn't mimic the WindClanners mentors path.
"After you, Echosong." She allowed the two ThunderClan medicine cats to pass by first before tapping Burdockroot with a fluffy black tail. Wide shoulders brushing the pitch-black walls that led to the glittering moonstone, a silent sigh of relief that the cave held cooled air rather than the sticky heat outside.
Pressing warm nose against cool stone, Heatherberry closed her eyes.

The mixture of relief on everyone's face was semi-gratifying for Sparrowthorn to see. She was glad that the news seemed to bring some level of peace, even if she hadn't been there to apologize. At least they knew she was gone. It wouldn't be easy for Sparrowthorn to rebuild Windclan's reputation, but she'd have to, and hopefully Smallstar would make it easy to.
Following behind the rest of the medicine cats, Sparrowthorn gently pressed her nose to the Moonstone, laying her body down next to it. Closing her eyes, she wondered what the ancestors would have for her this half-moon.
