Greenleaf had brought with it a monstrous heat that threatened to melt the long-haired cats, and for once Silverwing found herself glad for her shorter fur. This way the heat seemed somewhat manageable, coupled with the endless amounts of shade Skyclan's trees provided. Perhaps Skyclan did have some advantages over Windclan. Silverwing had been too excited for this day to sleep. The first time training her new apprentice, and though she wasn't an official mentor to Littlepaw it would also be her first time training her daughter! That word filled her with happiness, something that had also stunted her sleep for a few nights.

Silverwing emerged from her den to find the sun not even rising yet, and while it was nowhere near cold out it was still the coolest it had ever been since the arrival of Greenleaf. The silver warrior poked her head inside the apprentice's den. "Whinchatpaw Littlepaw, get up it's time for training." Silverwing padded toward the camp's entrance to wait for the two apprentices.

Littlepaw yawned as she padded out of the nuersy at her mother's call. She was very excited but wasnt much of a morning cat. It usually took her awhile to fully wake up so thats what she did. By the time Whin walked out she was running aroubd her other in circles, excited to train with her mother.

Silverwing tried in vain to keep her eyes on Littlepaw, giving up after only a few laps. "Morning Whinchatpaw." The molly purred. "We should get going. I'd like to get our lesson over with before the day's heat truly sets in." With a flick of her tail Silverwing lead her apprentices out of camp. Their first trip out of camp would be a short one. Silverwing had a habit of frequenting pretty spots whenever she took an apprentice out to train, and there was no spot prettier than the Moonlit Creek just a couple bounds away from the Riverclan border. She would use this chance to show off the border and her favorite hunting spot.

The warrior arrived at the destination with apprentices in tow. "This creek is a great spot to find prey. Prey will always seek out a good water source, and if you're lucky you might be able to catch something while it's drinking from the creek." Er, maybe she was getting ahead of herself. These were Skyclan cats, and before she taught them how to hunt there was something more important they needed to learn.

The spotted molly padded toward a tree with a low branch, turning back to Whinchatpaw and Littlepaw as she started her demonstration. "Climbing is very important for a Skyclan cat, so I'll teach you that before we get to hunting. When climbing you need to watch where you place your paws, and you'll need to pay attention to your surroundings." Silverwing placed a clawed paw on the tree, finding a decent hold as she started her ascent. "Just put one paw in front of the other and keep an eye on where you're going." The silver she-cat reached the low branch, finding herself a nice spot to perch on as she stared down at the two. "It's pretty tough for first timers, so don't feel bad if you don't get in right away." Well, it had been extremely hard for her but these were Skyclan born cats. They had tree climbing in their blood, Silverwing was sure they would have an easier time at climbing than she did.

Littlepaw followed after her mother, well more like bounding around. Her mother was being slow so Whin could catch up but littlepaw wanted them to go faster. As they left camp and headed towards moonlit creek, Littlepaw finally started to slow down as she took in everything around her. The vast forest looked so huge compared to her and she wondered how far it went.

As they arrived at the creek, silverwing showed them how to climb trees. Littlepaw looked at her friend with a teasing look as she remembered his adventuring as a kit. When silverwing stopped on a branch and looked down, littlepaw took that as her cue to head up. She bounded towards the tree and with a mighty, well mighty for apprentice, leap she landed on the trunk, with her claws dug into the bark. She took careful steps as her clawed paws took her higher and higher up the tree. Right when she got to her mother, a thought struck her head and she fearfully looked down. How was she going to get down.... Silverwing hadnt talked about the down part yet. Littlepaw slowely padded towards her mother and sat down, waiting for whin, hoping her mother knew how to get down.

Silverwing nodded as her daughter joined her on the branch, pride showing in her eyes. "Excellent job Littlepaw! You're a natural at this!" Then it was Whinchatpaw's turn. It was strange, but she almost felt jealous of the two. She had been through countless nights of failed climbing attempts just to be able to seem mildly competent at it, but both Whinchatpaw and Littlepaw seemed to take to climbing easily. Silverwing didn't dwell too long on her feelings, shooting the tom a wide smile as he perched above them. "Training without me? I'd be upset with you if you didn't show such clear skill, Whinchatpaw!" She mewed playfully. "When you get used to climbing you can do all sorts of things. Wolfblossom tells me that we can hunt in the trees, but that doesn't really seem safe to me."

Abandoning her perch, Silverwing leapt off the branch. "Alright, time to start your training. We're gonna be hunting today, but we'll be hunting my way. I don't feel comfortable with you two trying to hunt in the trees like a couple of birds so we'll be grounded today, got it?" Silverwing stared up at the apprentices, waiting patiently for them to join her.

Littleaw watched as her mother jumped down perfectly. She was a little scared but knew if her mom could do it, so could she. Littlepaw bent her legs as she got ready to jump down, then when she was ready, she jumped. To her it felt like forever but to everyone else it was only a few seconds. Like instinct, littlepaw angled her body and tail to the perfect postion and landed on all fours next to her mother. "I did it!" she mewed cheerfully at silverwing then turned to watch whin do it.

The warrior offered her apprentices a nod of approval. "Alright, first thing's first you both need to learn the right stance for hunting." Silverwing demonstrated a proper stance for the two, lowering her body nearly to the point of touching the ground. "Keep your tail off the ground while you move and keep an eye on your surroundings. You never know what kind of beast might be hunting you." Not that either of them would have to worry about that at the moment though. Silverwing would keep them safe from harm no matter what.

There's a lot to learn, so just watch what I do." Silverwing stalked along the creek, pausing every few moments to scent the air with an open mouth. The creek was always plentiful when it came to prey, which meant the molly didn't have to travel far to catch the scent of something. A bushy tailed creature had perched itself at the base of a tree. It was fidgeting with something small in its paws which seemed to be thoroughly enrapturing the poor beast. Silverwing crept closer and closer until the fidgeting stopped, at which point she broke from her silent stalking into a break-neck sprint at the squirrel.

The small item fell from the squirrel's grasp as it turned to ascend the tree but Silverwing had already closed the gap between them. The molly delivered a swift killing bite to the creature before padding back to her apprentices. "Ith weally eathy- un secon." Placing the squirrel at her paws, Silverwing continued. "It's really easy to catch prey. Try to approach from its blind spot, and if you see even the slightest hint that it knows you're there, go for it! As long as you're quiet most prey won't even notice you until it's too late. Now I want the two of you to try catching something."

Silverwing attempted to catch a squirrel and was successful! -3 SP
