Lightningbreeze was finding she quite liked the longer, breezier days that came with the warmer weather. Newleaf rains gave way to Greenleaf sun, and between patrols and sparring and spending time with her friends she was doing her best to live each day to the fullest.
But Lightningbreeze's high-speed and high-energy existence typically came with the tradeoff of frequent naps, which found her curled up in a particularly sunny patch of camp or lazing about in the lower branches of a nearby tree.
"This is pretty sweet, don't you think?" she said lightly, not particularly paying attention to who exactly she was speaking to. "Just, y'know, existing."
Foxtrot flipped over on his side to make eye contact with the other warrior, "Yeah I 'spose." he responded, he had never thought of joy on such a simple level, he usually found joy in the activities or the people in his life rather than the fact he was simply alive. Though he figured if he weren't alive he wouldn't be able to experience all of the things that made him happy. "Seen Mistflower anywhere today?" he inquired flippantly, a yawn stretching out his maw for a moment.
Ploverkit's tongue swept over her chest fur which mimicked the nice day’s clouds. Light winds blew the thick fluff dry and lifted it up from her skin, cooling her down during that sun-filled day. Though a solo kitten sharing tongues with no one but herself, she couldn’t seem more content, evident by her squinted eyes and tiny grey tail waving. But, having someone to share this breeze would be much better...
Her sight opened up slightly more in search of a companion. Across from her in a sunny part of the camp were a pair of cats, lounging just as she was. With a shake of her scruff, the kitten left her shaded hideaway and carried over to the two adults.
Now she didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but neither did she want to interrupt. And so she simply took in the sun, existing as a small, warm, sleepy puff. It was okay to wait for just a moment.
"Mistflower?" Lightningbreeze recalled the cat in question, a nervous warrior who she mostly tried to keep her distance from- not because of any hard feelings, but because she knew the other cat found her enthusiasm a little overwhelming at times. They were familiar with one another in passing, but not close. "Not recently. Why, did you need her for something? She's probably around here somewhere."
One of the few things she did know about Mistflower is that when the shy warrior was around other cats, it was usually one of three cats: her sister, her former mentor, and Foxtrot himself. So she figured it wouldn't be all that unusual if Foxtrot was looking for her.
The rest of the warrior's attention was captured by the approach of a kit, and she waved her tail. "Heya! You come out from the nursery to play in the sun?"
Foxtrot shrugged in response, he had been looking for her, but if Lightningbreeze hadn’t recently seen her then it wasn’t too big of a deal. The warrior relished in the sun, leaning his head back and allowing its rays to penetrate his thin coat until it was nearly too hot to bear. His dark pelt always absorbed any amount of sun, it made it hard for him to stay out for too long but the sun in small doses was always nice, especially if there was a breeze.
As Lightningbreeze addressed the kit that had approached he turned towards it looking at her curiously as he waited for a response. He hadn’t met Ploverkit before nor any of Juniper’s children but he had heard they were born within the past moon and Juniper had a troubled birth and was in the medicine den with his sister and Plumleaf.
