What are the duties of a medicine cat?: The primary duty of a medicine cat is to protect their clan. This is achieved through, of course, gathering and using herbs to heal their clanmates. However, this also consists of helping their clanmates through their darkest times, being a cat that others can lean on for emotional and spiritual needs. Part of protecting their clan means communing with Starclan, by keeping their relationship with Starclan positive so that they can continue to use Starclan's wisdom to help their clan. A medicine cat must be able to shoulder the burden of their clanmates' wounds, both physical, emotional, and spiritual, and do their best to heal them so that they can continue to be the best warrior they can be.
What would you do with this position?: Sparrowthorn is quiet, matter-of-fact, and grumpy. Not only would her seemingly consistent annoyance be a fun addition to Batsong's personality, but I feel like it's been too long since Windclan had a medicine cat who didn't like their other medicine cat. Sparrowthorn is pretty upset with Batsong for the whole gathering business, so having to suddenly turn around and train with her will cause at least a little conflict. Combine Sparrowthorn's very possible unhappiness with her posse of brothers, and the potential for a bit of inter-clan conflict goes up. In general, though, Sparrowthorn is highly protective, and while this originally just was for her brothers, as a medicine cat she'll be forced to open up a bit in order to best serve her clan. Also, as fun as spiting Starclan is, Sparrowthorn is an avid follower of the Warrior Code, following in her father's footsteps, and probably will never have a forbidden romance. She would also actively speak out against forbidden romance, at least when she does speak. So cats that want a forbidden romance, beware! With Sparrowthorn as MCA, no one is safe.
Why do you think you deserve this position?: I've been around the block as a High Rank before, and while being leader was fun for the time I was in the position, my activity decreased severely, and I had to step down. Medicine cat, while it of course demands activity, doesn't quite require as much as leader, at least in my own ranking of time. Granted that summer is here, and my classes have wound down, suddenly I am left with all this muse, and nowhere to put it! Jokes aside, I have never been in the MC position before, and I would love to be able to experience that with yall. Not only that, but I love grumpy MCs, so being able to play one would be interesting, and not only for me. Anyway, good luck to everyone else applying! Whichever one of us becomes MCA, it'll be fun <3
