Dawnkit peeked into the den, which was technically a cave covered by a bush of some sort. It was even bigger than the apprentice den! However, recalling Tawnyshadow's words about how she will be so exhausted after her training she won't have time to appreciate the space in the den, Dawnkit seemed less eager to grow up and become an apprentice since being an apprentice seemed very tiring.

However, she still smiled cheerfully to Tawnyshadow, since it was not everyday she could explore the camp, and the sun would be setting soon. "This den looks quite big, but the sun is going to set soon... why don't we move on and look at other places?"Dawnkit suggested, trying not to let Tawnyshadow notice her sudden loss of interest in becoming an apprentice and sleep in dens.

Tawnyshadow nodded absent-mindedly, then suddenly mewed, "Sorry, but I have to report for a hunting patrol now! How about you go back and practice those moves I showed you earlier?" She then quickly turned and bounded away. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy being with the kit; she did. She just found it a little bit... tiring

Hunting patrol? Dawnkit wondered. Didn't Tawnyshadow do a hunting patrol sometime earlier in the day? Watching the silhouette of the she-cat bounding away, Dawnkit thought not much of it and decided to practice the battle techniques she had learnt from Tawnyshadow earlier.  

After raising a paw and slashing it through the air multiple times, Dawnkit reared on her hindlegs and slashed at the air before landing back on all fours a few times. Soon, she tried combining those two moves together. She spent the rest of the evening raising a paw, slashing it through the air, falling back on the ground then rearing on her hindlegs instantly after her paws touched the ground, slashing at the air before landing back again on all fours. Soon she mastered that combination of moves.

She continued with adding some changes to the moves, and at the end she came up with a move where she raises a paw, slashing it through the air, falling back on her hindlegs then rearing and slashing at the air before landing back again on all fours gracefully. Satisfied, she started to go back to the nursery,

Dawnkit’s little adventure wouldn’t be over yet. A black-and-white she-cat approached, not blocking her path but clearly intending to talk to her. “Hey there, kiddo,” she purred. “We haven’t met yet, but I’m Snowfoot. I just wanted to check in on you. I noticed Tawnyshadow’s been training you already.” Always eager, that one. Snowfoot sat down and swiped a paw across her whiskers, not flinching as she brushed over her many scars. She’d gotten used to them by now. Maybe she was ugly by some standard, but she was okay. She’d survived.
