Batkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"ShadowClan! All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, please gather around for a Clan meeting!"

Leopardsun's voice carried easily over the open area they'd settled in, and she kept a watchful eye out for the kit who would be apprenticed during this meeting.

After Moonpaw's ceremony, he was sure his own was next. His face held zero excitement as his freshly groomed-a-3rd-time self dragged paws (not literally though! He wouldnt dare get anymore rocks stuck betweennhis toes again) to Leopardsun's voice.

He sat down with chest puffed out and his head turned at a certain angle. All of his sides were perfect, but his left more so.

Leopardsun choked back a laugh at the sight of her son: as amusing as it was, he certainly seemed to be preoccupied with his own appearance. Where any of her and Echomist's children had gotten such vanity from was beyond her.

"Batkit, please step forward."

She waited for him to move himself forward, watching with interest.

"You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Batpaw. Singedfox will be your mentor, and I trust that he will pass all that he knows on to you."

It took everything in him not to let a groan escape. Great. Now he really did have to do all the dirty work in camp... He grimaced at the thought of cleaning the elders den and getting the blood of his prey on his tidy paws.

Instead, he bowed his head to Leopardsun and his new mentor respectfully. This wasn't going to be that easy, though.
