A Revealing Patrol [C]

OOC: The plan for this topic is to hunt for a little bit and if we don't roll a 10 within 1 roll each then I'll force a pred!

Blackbear was mad. Madder than usual, even. Her fur stood on end, her tail lashed with unusual fervor and her face was drawn into a tight scowl. She'd been mad now for 3 days, her mood not lightening up for a second. Everything she did, from hunting to eating to sleeping, was done with an unmistakable feeling of malice and spite. How dare Fogfeather? How dare he? She growled just thinking about the stupid mangepelt. For moons, moons, she'd believed him. Followed him around, begging him to tell her more and show her how to fight. She'd hunted herbs! All so he'd tell her about his past as a murderer. And now, it turned out that not only was he a liar, he'd never even lifted a claw against anyone or anything in his life. On the one paw, it gave her some satisfaction that she could indubitably beat him in a fight. On the other, the fact that he'd led her on for so long and humiliated her made every atom of her being flare up with rage. She needed to get revenge. So, for three days, she plotted. A more... intellectually inclined cat than Blackbear wouldn't have needed that much time to come up with what she came up with, but it was a workable plan nonetheless. She was going to make him admit it. Admit that he was a liar and a bad fighter. And then, she'd never speak to him again. Probably.

The hardest part was not confronting Fogfeather right there and then and demanding an explanation. It was ever so tempting, but Blackbear didn't let up. Instead, she ignored him for the three days she was concocting The Plan. Then, with everything all laid out in her mind, she forced herself to reel in how angry she looked and entered the medicine den. There he was, talking to his sister about something. Which one was this again? Truffle something. Didn't matter. She turned to Fogfeather with a steely gaze. "Fog. You took me herb hunting, I'm taking you hunting. Come on." She looked back at Truffle...snap! That was it. Maybe she ought to come too? It would be satisfying to watch Fogfeather admit his lies in front of his sister, too... She tilted her head slightly. "You can come too, if you want."

Inviting no further discussion, she turned tail and loped out of camp making sure that at least the medicine cat was following. To her pleasure, both of them were. She slowed down until she was next to Trufflesnap and Fogfeather. "You ever hunted, Fogfeather? You must have." She knew he'd never caught anything, of course. He grew up in that stinky medicine den of his. "Trufflesnap, wanna see who can catch the bigger prey?" Despite her anger at Fogfeather, some hunting before she enacted her plan would be fun. Competing at hunting was something she was good at.

She split off from the group once they got sufficiently deep into the forest, sniffing around for prey. Then, just above her, she heard a cawing noise. A crow! Perfect. It was sitting on a low branch, eating some kind of berry off the tree. It was too distracted to care about her. Bunching her legs up beneath her, she sprang upwards to catch it. Her jump was slightly too low, however, and she snagged the branch instead of the bird. It cawed in alarm and took off, leaving Blackbear to fall back to the ground with an annoyed hiss. That was embarrassing.

Blackbear attempted to catch a crow but failed, costing 3SP.
