Mallardduck's transition to being a warrior was much easier than they had anticipated. Life came easy to him, patrols were something they could simply zone out and enjoy, and it always seemed that there wasn't much else to learn. It simply was evolving the skills that Whisperear had bestowed onto them, that he could continue to grow as a hunter, as a fighter, and just overall, as a warrior of Windclan. Part of that meant hunting, something that was... relatively simple, all things considered.

Excitement filled their paws in a gentle ripple, their lanky frame easily gliding through the tall grasses. A quick call to any clanmates who wished to join was given before they set out, and immediately, a nose took to the air to see whether or not a piece of prey could be found and captured. The signature scent of rabbit filled their nostrils, and quickly, they changed trajectory. The creature seemed ready to bolt, as Mallardduck stepped just a bit too close, but long legs had their advantage. Easily did they catch up to the creature, knocking it over before ending its life in a swift bite. It'd be a good start to the hunting trip, that was for sure.

Daisybreeze was having a much tougher transition into warrior life.  She was not even over grieving the loss of her brother goldenpaw when the news that her father and former mentor hawk heart died by the same method.  Foxes.  She hadn’t slept in nights and hadn’t eaten anything for days either.  The greif too much.  It wasn’t fair.  She moaped about camp no longer eager to do anything.  Her father was gone and he was her mentor too taught her everything she knew about hunting and fighting.  

An offer to go hunting was given by her friend mallardduck they were friends and had trained together and had the apprentice games together too.  She hesitated before joining them .

She almost didn’t join but if duck were to be attacked by a fox and hurt or worse… she couldn’t lose any more clanmates.

She filled him out but wasn’t in the mood to talk much.  She looked around but it wasn’t hares or rabbits she was looking for first.  If she saw any hint of orange or red pelt she would tear the fox to shreds.

Eventually an opportunity did arise to try and hunt


She saw a rabbit and went for it


However the second that she stopped thinking of predators and tried to get back into the grove of the hunt a fox appeared.  She hissed jumping up as it was charging right at her!  She was angry and upset and not thinking clearly .  This thing killed her father and brother and she would now return the favor!

Daisybreeze felt the fox bite her shoulder hard and the pain was severe.  She yelped as the fangs bit into her.  Was this how hawkheart and Goldenpaw felt moments before their deaths?

A fiery fury burned within her.  She wasn't gonna die.  Not today.  She was gonna kill this thing and any fox that she ever saw again.

Scorchtalon dragged himself to his paws at the call for a hunt, unable to shake the sour mood that had been plaguing him ever since his conversation with Shrikestar. He was eager to hunt, having had enough of sitting around feeling sorry for himself. He headed out behind the younger warriors, closing his eyes as he felt the familiar sensation of the wind in his fur. The days had been almost unbearably hot lately, and he often fund himself feeling sorry for the other clans who couldn't feel the wind due to the dense forests in their territories. He sighed, hoping against his better judgement that Marshmallow was doing okay after the flood, and coping with the heat well. His thoughts were interrupted by the bitter, rank scent of fox. He spotted it attacking Daisybreeze and forced himself to abandon his bad mood and help his clanmate. He raced toward the fox, raking his claws down it's flank and simultaneously releasing the frustration that had been building inside him the past few days. For a second he could even imagine he was an apprentice again, his head filled with nothing but the ambition to serve his clan the best he could. How long ago that seemed now...

Mallardduck's head whipped at the sound of a fox, ears perked and a healthy dose of fear quick to ripple through their system. "Oh, haredung..." They grumbled, both in a panic and in frustration. Why couldn't they just simply have a good hunt? Was there something that the Stars had against them in leading a hunting patrol? Even if he was a young warrior, Mallardduck was certainly trusted and qualified just as any other leader was. If anything, they were being extra safe by making sure to bring extra warriors along with them!

The long bicolored limbs quickly made their way over to where they were challenging the fox. Scorchtalon was there as well, thankfully, adding to their numbers. Making sure to put their catch somewhere safe, it was then that Mallardduck's speed really picked up, the warrior then bolting to close the distance. Teeth locked onto the fluffy red and black tail of the predator, and pulled with all of the might that they had. It was something that'd certainly daze the creature for a short time, that was certain.

Mallardduck used Tail Yank, dealing 7 damage and costing 15 stamina.
The fox is stunned for one turn!
