Perchstar held in a sigh as she leapt atop the Willow Branch. It was greenleaf-- supposedly the most peaceful season. Abundant prey, warm sun, gentle weather.... So why did the stars seem intent on cursing them with an influx of predators? Three separate fox attacks, not to mention a plethora of weasels, geese, snakes and more. It didn't seem normal. Surely, all her Clanmates had noticed too. So, she and Poppyshine had agreed to have a meeting about the situation, and especially warn the apprentices and young warriors about what might happen if they decided to sneak out. Hopefully no one would be so reckless... and yet, she had been proven wrong time and time again. So it was to be; better safe than sorry. "Let all cats gather for a Clan meeting," she called.

Dovesight was tired straight to the bones as she walked out to join the meeting. Part of her felt like falling asleep right then and there, but Perchstar had an announcement, and Dovesight wasn't one to ignore her leader's words. Still, she wished she had a break. Even with Sandypaw in the medicine den with her, as well as a plethora of warriors willing to help, the constant attacks from predators was so taxing on her body. And even worse, she had no news from the stars about it.
Despite her best efforts, Dovesight's eyes did on multiple occasions close for a few heartbeats before she jerked herself away. No, she refused to let herself fall asleep. She chose to be a medicine cat, she chose this life, she would make it work out.

Minksplash had heard the call echoing just beyond the camp's walls, the prize of her recent catch focused squarely in her maw. Readjusting the pelt that hung around her shoulders using the tips of her paws, Minksplash trotted into camp, quickly placing the fish into the fresh-kill pile. It wasn't often that Perchstar called meetings during this time of day. Usually, they were towards the evenings, when most of the Clan was already back, in celebration of an apprentice or kit gaining their name. Something about this felt... different, though. As if it were much more serious in nature, rather than jubilate.
Furrowing her brow, and keeping her paws hooked into the very edges of her pelt, she pulled on it just slightly in curiosity and anxiety as she scanned around the camp. Her gaze was certainly honed in on searching first for her mother, secondly for her siblings.

Sprucepaw awoke from the call of the meeting in his med cat den nest. His wounds were healing very nicely thanks to dove and sandy . Still, they had ordered him to stay in camp until fully healed up and the good rule following fellow would do just that. Poking his head out of the den he saw everyone gathering around and he went out slowly to go join them. He saw his sister minksplash and went to sit by her purring in a friendly greeting mink he meowed happily looking at her cool pelt that she had as a scarf oh it’s so pretty he meowed in awe. it looks very soft. May I feel it? he asked. He was very formal and polite so he asked of course not wanting to mess with her stuff.
How’s warrior life? he asked curiously. He was so proud of his littermate and wished that he too could join her. Once his injuries were healed up he probably could he thought positively.
Glancing around he purred quieter any idea what this meetings about?

Reedpaw turned his ears to Perchstar's call- a clan meeting? The time of day was a little surprising, but he thought nothing of it-- most announcements were positive; and today had no reason to be anything different. Turning his attention to where he should actually sit, he noticed two of his siblings already gathered under the Willow Branch. The tabby tom quickly decided to join them, long legs striding between the duo. "Hey Spruce, hey Mink!" Reedpaw greeted with a friendly flick of his tail. His bright smile faded somewhat as he looked closer toward the tortoiseshell tom. He'd almost forgotten how unlucky his brother had gotten with predators, recently.. "..You holding up alright?" At least it looked like Sprucepaw was well enough to leave the Medicine Den.

Perchstar had spoken with Poppyshine about the situation at hand, and they agreed that some warning was warranted. She hated seeing her clanmates—especially her own children—continuously being beaten down by the predators that prowled in the forest. The sooner they receive an official warning—and some parameters to follow—the better.
She stepped up near the Willow Branch, settling down in her space as deputy. She lifted her chin and observed the cats coming to gather and gave another glance to Perchstar. Poppyshine offered a tiny nod, confirming she was ready when Perchstar was to give the announcement.

Yarrowblossom sat near the back of the growing crowd, trying very very hard to keep his face blank. His leg ached, Martenpaw rested in StarClan, his best friend blinded in the medicine cat den— Yarrowblossom felt like a swollen river in a storm, threatening to overflow. How much more could he and his clan take? Would more cats have to die, be attacked, get hurt? Dovesight swore it was because of the season and the weather, but the longer the predators stalked the forest, the quicker Yarrowblossom’s hope for an end to this faded.

Sootspirit had heard his leader's call from his spot near the fresh kill pile. The tom had taken some time to relax a little with a good meal, but it seemed his time would be cut short. Not that he minded that is. When his leader called, he would answer. So the tom shoved his fish aside for now, swearing in his mind to come back for it later, and joined his clanmates over in front of the Willow Branch, unsure of who to approach at this current point in time.

Willow Branch
Sandypaw followed her mentor out into camp, though she was practically dragging herself. As fun as learning with Dovesight had been, all the predator injuries was tiring. She’d never complain, but she’d try to ask for a break or two when she felt really down. Hey, at least everyone’s alive. We're doing good work, she yawned to herself before glancing over at her aunt.
The older molly seemed much more exhausted than her, which she felt bad about. Maybe I can watch the den for a bit while she gets some rest. Normally her stomach would turn at the thought of no guidance, but over her moons of training she felt a bit more comfortable being independent. And if it was to help someone she loved, she’d just have to tough it out.

Woolywing heard Perchstar's call from the medicine den. At first he assumed it was an apprentice ceremony, but Perchstar's tone of voice was far too serious for that. Perhaps she'd be addressing the elephant in the room: the predator attacks. Everyone was tired and weak, not least of all himself. The medicine cats were working double-time and many were scared to hunt. Hopefully Perchstar had a plan. He got to his feet gingerly and located the wall of the den, walking along it until he found the entrance. He knew pretty well where it was by now, anyway, but the wall helped.
He sat at the mouth of the den, ears pricked up to hear what the leader had to say. She was probably going to be angry with him again, he realised to his chagrin. She had been the last two times, anyway.

Stormdance heard Perchstar’s call from within the medicine den. It took him a minute to convince his aching body to get up, but he did so. His leg was still giving him plenty of trouble, but Dovesight and Sandypaw were doing everything they could for him. It’s why he was careful as he made his way to the entrance, not wanting to undo any of the work that they’ve done for him and make their jobs harder. He gave Woolywing a soft mew of greeting, alerting the other tom to his presence as he passed by before he took a seat near Woolywing not far from outside the medicine den.
Despite his own injuries, he was far more concerned for Woolywing, and though Rowanpaw’s injuries had been thankfully lighter than his own, he was still worried for his apprentice too. He was just… so tired, a knot of guilt and anxiety a constant in his chest. He lifted his gaze towards Perchstar atop the Willowbranch, wondering what this meeting was for, though he could suspect the answer. It would be difficult not to acknowledge the constant attacks by predators that had been afflicting their clan.

Perchstar returned Poppyshine's nod as her deputy arrived. They had already spoken about what was to be said... all that was left now was to tell the rest of their Clanmates. As she looked at the clearing, she could see injuries on at least half of the other cats there. Stormdance, Sprucepaw, Rowanpaw... and Woolywing, who was now completely blind. Dovesight looked like she might collapse to the ground in a daze at any moment. It hurt to see all of her Clanmates like this. So tired and beaten down, not only physically, but emotionally... it had been a hard moon. And that was why it was necessary for her to address this.
"Cats of RiverClan," Perchstar began seriously, flicking her tail, "I'm sure I do not have to tell you that this greenleaf has been more difficult than usual. For some reason, be it the warm sun or the influx of prey, a large amount of predators have been terrorizing our territory. Among them have especially been a few foxes. Injuries have been more frequent than in the past, and this has caused more work for not only Dovesight, but other warriors to pick up the slack. I commend you all for working through these hard times." She scanned the crowd below, looking at the warriors who were healthy as well as those who were injured. They had done their best... most of them. And those that had caused problems would hopefully not be able to anymore, with these new rules.
"With that said, in light of these new dangers, there are a few changes that need to be made. We do not know when the predator attacks will stop. So, until we can be certain that we are safe, we will act with extra caution. From now on, until I say otherwise, no one may leave camp alone. All warriors must be accompanied by at least one other, and each apprentice must be accompanied by at least two warriors. Kits and queens will stay in camp. The larger our patrols are, the better. Our strength lies in numbers." Momentarily, her eyes narrowed. "Many of these unfortunate injuries have been caused by apprentices or young cats going off on their own. Hopefully, these kinds of foolish decisions will end. RiverClan lives are not to be thrown away so carelessly."
Perchstar's face returned to its neutral state, and she glanced at Dovesight. For a new medicine cat, she had done remarkably well. "Another change involves giving more assistance to our medicine cats. Dovesight, and her new apprentice Sandypaw, have been wonderful help to our Clan. They have treated many injuries and potentially saved lives. Along with normal warrior duties, such as hunting and patrolling, a contingent will be added to offer assistance in the medicine den. Warriors will accompany the medicine cats when they look for herbs, and every day, one or two will be assigned to help with menial tasks such as making poultices and applying cobwebs. Hopefully, this will ease the unusually large burden that they have had to bear." The leader nodded and flicked an ear. Hopefully she had said everything right... hopefully this would help her Clanmates. "That is all. Thank you for your time. If you have any more questions, you may ask me or Poppyshine."

❒ Brookstone was going to sit with the rest of her clanmates as they all assembled for the clan meeting. However, she settled down next to her best friend, Stormdance. He had been injured alongside Rowanpaw and Woolywing recently and Brook couldn't help but worry. Even her own apprentice, Sprucepaw, had gotten his own injuries. All this was due to those stupid predators that had been popping up everywhere without any rhyme or reason. She had placed her faith in her clan's medicine cats to get them back to decent health. For now, she'll be checking up on them whenever she could.
❒ She offered Stormdance a half-hearted smile before turning back to watch the meeting. She had a suspicion about what the topic would be about—which one of them was seated beside her. She hoped he didn't push himself too hard. He was still recovering. She wished she had gone with them. An extra cat maybe would've prevented some of their injuries. Well, it was of no use to dwell on what could've been. They could only move forward from here and learn from their mistakes.
❒ As Perchstar spoke, Brookstone felt the corners of her mouth twitch upward. She appreciated the precautions their leader was putting in place for their safety. She agreed that they needed to stick together. It was important to do so now that there has been an influx of predators and other dangers in their territory.
❒ Brook cocked her head as she listened to the second half of what Perchstar wanted to say. It was another thing Brookstone agreed on. Dovesight and Sandypaw needed as much help as they could get. With so many injuries lately, they had their paws full. She was actually quite excited to help out with herb patrols and getting to learn some of the basics of healing.
❒ As the meeting concluded, she looked at the tom beside her from her peripheral vision. 'Don't worry, Stormdance. I'll do my best to help get you better. I'll do my best to help everyone. Rest for now.'
