Flutterpaw’s moonstone journey

Batsong was in her den preparing traveling herbs for the journey that she and flutter paw would soon take. Flutter paw was a good apprentice, had taken some introduction to herb lessons that she had taught and from what she had seen was a responsible young Tom with a good sense of direction. Now it was time for him to get any guidance from starclan he might need before his soon warrior ceromony.



With the herbs ready she walked to the apprentice den and gave some to flutterpaw here eat the shy she cat meowed quietly. She didn’t warn him how bad they would taste… he would find that out soon enough. All part of it she supposed.


When they had done that she led him on the relatively short journey given that their clan was by far the closest to the spot. It was pretty uneventful trip and was over somewhat quickly. She paused at the entrance of the cave that eventually led to the magician stone. She pointed her tail to it. The reserved she cat saying nothing else but gave him a little nod . She sat down and let the apprentice go on his way. Part of this was letting them do things on their own she figured. She would wait by the entrance for when he was done but from here on out it was his.

Flutterpaw smiled at Batsong, ate the herbs with a small grimace, and then followed her pawsteps on the journey to the Moonstone.

The caverns were long, lonely and dark. Flutterpaw felt enclosed in them, as if the ceiling would fall in on him at any second, and he would be trapped underground forever. Never being able to run on the moors in the sun again... that would be a fate worse than death. Yet, thanks in part to Batsong's directions and in part to the faint hint of moonlight that caught his eye every so often, he managed to make it to the central cavern. His jaw dropped. A tall crystal rose up from the center of the room, shining brilliantly. Overhead, a hole in the roof let the moon shine down, and its light was refracted endlessly off of the crystal's facets. The Moonstone. The warriors weren't kidding when they talked about how beautiful it was! It took a few moments of staring to remember what he was actually supposed to do. He shook out his soft black fur, then lay down on the cold stone floor and slowly pressed his nose to the shining rock.

Gustpuddle small yet bubbly form soon appeared, dazzling with stars that streamed elegantly in every which direction. Flutterpaw would soon awaken in the land of the stars, and she was (extremely) proud to be the cat to greet and speak with him. The star-spotted moors stretched out behind her, fading into glorious, shimmering willows and oaks at the edges of the territory. Her focus, however, remained on the young tom fading into view before her eyes. She painted a big, warm smile onto her muzzle and waited as patiently as she could, tail tip flicking about in anticipation. When, finally, the tom’s eyes blinked open and his form showed signs of movement, she cleared her throat and meowed, ”Welcome, Flutterpaw! My name’s Gustpuddle, I was a WindClan warrior many, many moons ago, even before the great flood. I’m so happy to meet you!” Her tone was sweet and warm, just as it had been in life, as she beamed at the young tom.
