After so many ceremonies for her own kits, it was a surprisingly nice change of pace to perform a ceremony for someone that was not her own child, biologically or adopted. After she made sure that a queen was looking after Sprucekit and Reedkit, she made her way up onto the Willow Branch and called, “Let all cats old enough to catch their own fish gather for a Clan meeting.”

Poppyshine smiled down at Gingerkit, who scampered up. She gestured for the kit to step forward for the ceremony. “Gingerkit. You have reached your age of six moons and are ready to be apprenticed. From this day on until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Gingerpaw.” She smiled again, hoping that Gingerpaw was excited about the ceremony. “Your mentor shall be Owlshriek. He will pass his knowledge to you and help you grow into a formidable warrior.” With a final nod, she stepped down from the willow branch to join in the celebrations.

Minkpaw had skidded to a halt at the edge of the crowd, just as her mother seemed to finish the ceremony. She had only heard bits of what she had to say, but she caught that whoever the lucky cat was, they got Owlshriek as their mentor! He was a close family friend, especially to Poppyshine, and excited eyes quickly hopped around. The moment they began to cheer the new apprentices name, she also joined. "Gingerpaw! Gingerpaw!"

Poppyshine trusted him enough to give him yet another apprentice. Owlshriek nodded towards her, then stepped towards the newly named Gingerpaw. Nose pressing with her's, he mewed; "Sunrise Tomorrow, your training begins." The warrior took a step back. "Being in a new den is exciting, I know. But get enough sleep for tomorrow." Owlshriek nodded towards Minkpaw. "Go meet your new denmates, Gingerpaw."

With a dismissive twitch of his tail, the tom retreated back into the crowd, calling her name with the rest.
