hornetkit's apprentice ceremony

Mottlerose found herself smiling brightly as she lept atop the Highrock. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!"

As birds chirped the little tom woke up. The sound of the Mottleroses voice instantly made him jump out of the den. The only thought in his head was: Is it the moment? He made sure to attend each and every meeting, listening carefully just in case.
Well, this had to be his day- Every morning that thought hogged all of the space in Hornetkits mind. He was born such a long time ago and yet... he wasn't ready for so long. It was massively frustrating. Really? He, Hornetkit? He that just wished oh so much to finally leave the camp? Without the new name and without a mentor. Just a big kitten.
That was the reason why he just couldn't let himself pass any occasion of showing up. Just like the stars couldn't let themselves sparkle and shine during the night.
But he knew that he shouldn't keep his hopes up. Maybe there was something tragic to be announced? It wouldn't even be such a big deal if he stayed in the nursery for longer. Not like the family would be able to say anything bad about that anyway. The small paws stomped in one place looking up at the she-cat with a slightly open mouth.

As soon as the kit in question had appeared, a warm smile widened on Mottlerose's maw. "Hornetkit, you have reached the age of six moons old. It is time for you to be an apprentice. From now on, until the day you receive your warrior name, you shall be konwn as Hornetpaw. I trust Specklewish to be your mentor, as he will teach you all that you need to know." The tom mentioned had once been her own apprentice. Despite any physical limitations, he always showed his strength and dedication. There was no doubt that he'd accomplish training the young apprentice just fine.

For a heartbeat, he stared... having no clue if that was seriously this! He smiled back with newly gained confidence and looked around before getting one step closer and lowering his head as a sign of respect.
Yes- yes! Finally, he'll be the star of a story and have fun! The training worried him a bit tho. Not the fighting bit but the hunting one. After a couple of deep breaths, little tom found his mentor's pelt and trotted over.
"So when will we go on the first training? I want to fight like a real warrior!" Hornetpaw beamed with excitement. And his new name shined in his thoughts like his brightest treasure.
