Hollowkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the Tallbranch for a clan meeting!" More apprentices, finally! Bloodstrike sat on Tallbranch that chilly leaf-fall morning and watched his clan gather. Dawnfeather would be pleased with her new apprentice. He knew she'd been eager for one, and before he wasn't entirely sure that she was ready, However, she had served her clan well and he decided he'd let her have her shot at this. As soon as Hollowkit and Dawnfeather showed themselves, he'd begin the meeting. It wouldn't take long for Skyclan to gather, as this ceremony was taking place first thing in the morning. He wanted Dawnfeather and her new apprentice to start as early as possible. Leaf-bare was coming. Training could not wait.

Dawnfeather was sure this was Hollowkit’s ceremony. He was ready… he’d grown so much already, even if he was still a kit. The young warrior carefully groomed his silver pelt, making sure there were no stray bits of fur. Prima had done that to her, when she was apprenticed. Although she hadn’t liked it, it was something everyone did. Kits had to be presentable for their apprentice ceremonies, after all.

When Bloodstrike called the Clan, Dawnfeather shot to her paws. “We’d better go over,” she mewed, a twinkle in her eyes. ”You’re old enough to climb a tree now, don’t you think?” The young warrior trotted over, sitting near the front of the gathering cats. She couldn’t keep her smile contained… he’d grown before her eyes… and now he was about to be apprenticed.

Hollowkit bounded towards the Tallbranch looking back at Dawnfeather, head and tail high. He smoothened his fur but it kept popping back up so he stumbled as he tried licking his fur while running towards the meeting. His tail was twitching with excitement and his skin prickled and itched. I can’t believe I’m going to be a apprentice!. He looked around the crowd of cats, wondering who his mentor would be, he’d be fine with any cat really but he kinda had a little part of him that wanted Dawnfeather to be his mentor. Though he knew he didn’t have a say, all he could do was hope. He fidgeted with his tail and looked at Bloodstrike.

Once the two he'd been waiting for arrived, Bloodstrike began the meeting. "Hollowkit step forward! You have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From today until the day you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Hollowpaw. Dawnfeather will be your mentor." He nodded at Dawnfeather and hopped off of the Tallbranch. "Congratulations." He whispered to Hollowpaw. He stepped back and allowed the mentor and apprentice to greet each other.

Dawnfeather nudged him forwards gently, eyes sparkling with pride. She was glad she’d taken him under her wing, so to speak. He was becoming an apprentice today… the days went by long, but the moons flew by fast. She’d keep an eye on whoever became his mentor… she was so proud…

Oh. Oh. Oh! She was gonna be his mentor eeeee! Stifling her enthusiasm with a visible effort, she skipped forwards gleefully, beaming. The young warrior touched noses quickly, before stepping back with a grin. “I’m so proud of you already, Hollowkit- Hollowpaw! We’ll start training… as soon as you’re ready! It’s a beautiful morning, I can’t wait!” She exchanged a thankful look with Bloodstrike. He must’ve picked up on how nervous she was for Hollowpaw… not that he wasn’t capable of fending for himself, just that… she loved him, and she couldn’t stand it if anything happened to him.
